Based on everything I am seeing right now, it really appears to me like the price is ready to take off! (no moon talk... too cliche) but, I think the price would move significantly if it weren't for a few big fish (one?) splashing around in the pool causing Noobs and others to panic whenever they see their trademark sell wall.
I'm kind of surprised that we haven't beat this bully up, taken away his lunch money and sent him home to momma yet. If you can't tell... I Hate being manipulated like this! But other than that, once his games are done, we should make some pretty massive moves unless, he's tainted the waters for too many people.
There's manipulation happening on both sides, possibly by the same party(s) as on the sell side. That's why you can sometimes see bids jump from 5,200 BTC to 7,400 BTC, then drop to 6,200 BTC, all within a few minutes. Understood... I guess I really dislike how blatant it is. And quite honestly, with holding a margined long position, I can't have someone cutting off my ability to get out of the red when it was his manipulation that forced the price down in the first place. My main point was however, that if you just look at the basics in the chart you get the feeling this is ready to take off again which IMHO would be a good thing for the community in general.

..holding a margined long position...
Paying polo margin rates is crazy. At least mortgage your house or something. Sell your children, whatever.

Paying polo margin rates is crazy. At least mortgage your house or something. Sell your children, whatever. So for several days I will pay between .045% to .0945% Interest per day. Now that is .00045, times the amount, divided by the portion of a day(s) that I hold it. I should mortgage my house for that? Now, that's crazy! Or was that sarcasm... sometimes I can't tell!

Just wanna say how much I enjoy reading this thread, it reminds me of the good old days when I first discovered this forum around 2011 and was learning a great deal about blockchain tech, Libertarianism/Anarchism, Austrian economics and the mathematical wonders of public/private key encryption, from like-minded and intelligent posters. While many of the old-schoolers seem to have gone AWOL, the posts by you guys in here are inspiring and educational. Compared to the majority of BCT which has basically turned to dogshit, this thread rocks. Big ups to Aminorex, Anon136, TrueCryptonaire, Risto, nanobrain and of course the dev crew (deBruyne, fluffypony?). Plus all the other posters I've forgotten that post informative stuff here. I don't post much because I haven't got a lot to give and don't want to decrease the S/N ratio. But I'm always lurking (mwahaha ) and try and add my 2 XMR when I have something to say. As far as trading goes, I'm still holding some from buying at 0.0035 before the rise, but just threw in a couple of BTC worth at 0.021. Seems weird getting almost 10 times less XMR for the money, but I really believe in this tech so what the hell... One question: What is the maximum amount of XMR one should safely hold in a mymonero web wallet? I have most of my holdings in there and now they're worth a reasonable amount, I'm getting a little sketched out. Transfer to paper wallet maybe? Finally, shameless plug - I am selling some nice Casio G-Shock watches for XMR, I know this isn't the place to advertise goods but I'll just link the thread one time and then never speak of it again. PM me for more info/offeres etc: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1610064.0

Whatever you need for routine spending IMO. No web wallet can be 100% secure. Best is to transfer to your own paper wallet or (if you need spending access) a conventional wallet on your own well-secured computer/media.

Btw, the dump seems to be induced by some shorters (possibly the bear whale). See lending offers here: http://monerodice.pd.to/polo.phphttp://monerodice.pd.to/polo_snapshot_compare.php?id=442946&id2=442966You can be certain that some of the bids that were dumped into were shorts trying to cover. Thus, the amount shorted might even be bigger than depicted by the lending offers statistics.

Gold is the the tip of the liquidity pyramid. It is timeless, immutable money. It is money as decreed by the laws of nature and the universe its self. ... bet you could buy a space faring vessel from an alien species somewhere with gold. Try doing that with monero or apartments.
Given that gold can be synthesized with energy, and also may be found is superabundance in asteroids, I think that eventually it will lose value. Probably not in our lifetimes, barring substantial life extension tech. But I would take the other side of that bet. And yes, unless they wanted ongoing trade with humans, they would have no use for Monero. Once we set up the quantum entanglement protocol for galactic networking our alien neighbors may indeed find a use for Monero. I still wouldn't sell more than 1 or 2 percent of my holdings though...

Aaaaannd back over 6000 BTC buy orders. Are the shorters of that dump going to get wiped by the rebound? Its getting harder and harder to tell. Glad I whittled my long way down a while back. What's left is still afloat, but I might have to hold my breath for a bit in the near future. Playing with profits only is SO much less stressful!

Very much appreciate your posts and guides. Follow up question, for a 'conventional wallet" would I need to download the whole blockchain to sync the wallet (I am using 4g mobile internet atm so that wouldn't be possible atm, I would have to create paper wallet if that is the case).

And regarding the recent dump, I just threw my last 0.5 BTC (of trading allowance) into my first ever margin long at 0.02 - lets see how it pans out!

Looks to me like there is a better chance for XMR to take a breather here than anywhere so far. However in the face of extreme fundamentals it is a little hard to say how much that equals. The fundamental situation is SO strong.
But from several technical angles I would not be surprised to see a pullback soon.
1. From an Elliot wave perspective we could be seeing the A impulse starting. 2. We have just started seeing lower lows and lower highs. 3. It's a little frankenstinian but this looks little like a H&S over the last 32hrs or so.
That said even with all the big selling there seems to be steady buying pressure. If we can make it from here to a decisive area >.025 then all that stuff is out the window.
Disclosure: I am long and holding my core Monero, but my swing trading bankroll is all BTC at the moment.

This could also be a midweek slump similar to the one we saw a week ago. Given the seemingly cyclical and repetitive nature of this bull run, we might be going sideways/down til Friday, then back up. Or not.

That's my read of the situation too. I hope so anyway, I want back in after selling too early!

... Really the only universal currency for the universe is energy....
I would postulate time. Time:energy and position:momentum are the classic quantum informative pairs. I would describe information as the underlying universal value. God acts to maximize freedom. So should we. I would agree if the information was limitless as it would therefor make any other factor moot, but if not I'll take time any day! AFA price, SSDD. We're seeing the same thing we've seen for years only on a much larger scale. Gonna be another shakeout and moon. Really hate myself for being out at the wrong time. But at least I'm man enough to admit it. Enjoy the ride and don't get squeezed out guys.

its going to be tough to put it back at 0.026. things looks messy at the moment. the 50k xmr whale got pissed everybody was taking a chunk of his show off balance, he crashed the price. also i believe he was taking loans. everytime he comes showing off, the loan section is busy. but still, even at 0.020 seems little support. and after each dump support becomes less

There seems to be more sell support than buy at the moment - but I'm sure that wont last.

Over the past, I dunno, 6 months I've put together node.moneroworld.com, which is a collection of open nodes that anyone can use to synchronize their wallets and push transactions to the monero network. All you do is start simplewallet with: simplewallet.exe --daemon-host node.moneroworld.com
