Anyhow I think the demand energy is close to breaking out.  Can it wait until Friday this week?  I am beginning to doubt it.  It's only showing up in deep book bids right now, but the spring is coiling...  When bear talk begins to dominate, in a long-term accumulating market, it can't be long before an impulsive move.

I hope so... for two reasons:

My immediate BTC trading stash now spent in the 180s

..and elrippo will be crowing if we hit the 170s

My XMR is 95% cold storage, but I try to keep the rest of my crypto roughly balanced between BTC and XMR, and conservatively make market or rarely speculate in a small way.

I was trying to resolve to refrain from the market, to save time for other endeavours, but the movements were so attractive... speculation is a bad habit - when reinforced by occasional rewards it is like mental crack.

I have pretty well given up on restricting myself to a fixed maximum share of market cap.  It's so much easier to distribute coins than it is to acquire them... Why worry about distribution?

Anyhow I think the demand energy is close to breaking out.  Can it wait until Friday this week?  I am beginning to doubt it.  It's only showing up in deep book bids right now, but the spring is coiling...  When bear talk begins to dominate, in a long-term accumulating market, it can't be long before an impulsive move.

Note that most of the decline is due to big shorts market selling, which subsequently results in traders panicking on Poloniex. In addition, these shorters put up asks to make it look like there is a lot of supply. It's highly likely our bearwhale (the sell wall guy) took a new strategy and is simply market dumping now. Bear in mind that shorts have to buy back eventually, thereby providing additional liquidity to the market.

That is not good... I am not sure why you guys are happy with XMR being used for shady stuff. I get that is might raise the price a little, but it will hurt the coin long term imo.

Frankly, one could've expected this to happen. "Criminals" and other people working in grey areas (e.g. porn) are almost always pioneers with respect to new technology. An example is VHS vs Betamax, where porn contributed to VHS prevailing, see:

https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/3089/vhs-vs-betamax-how-influential-was-the-pornography-industry-in-the-format-war

EDIT: To add, similiarly, cash is also used for a lot of illegal stuff.

If your currency doesn't work for shady stuff, it's not fungible currency. And shady stuff for you might be selling credit cards or drugs online. Shady stuff in some countries is just sending an email to a reporter or buying a religious text. If you can't transact privately online, it can be a life or death situation.

So yes, we have to be happy that XMR works - for everything. Let law enforcement do their jobs without needing the world's banks to do their work for them.

Look guys BTC price in China is not going up.... price in USA manipulated or going up due to people buy BTC to support Monero.  Or whales buying little more BTC to fuel the frenzy!

2 hr candles on
Bitstamp = 328 BTC
Bitfinex = 527

Polo XMR BTC dump 2 hr candle = 3500 BTC

So you buy a little BTC on Bitstamp to help raise the price and fuel the fear... use it to buy more cheap monero.

MANIPULATION... STOP BUYING BTC   ha ha ha

Long Live Monero

I've been conflicted as to what I believe the whales have been up to. Right now, it looks to me like 2 big whales battling it out.

Bids approaching 8 k. Epic.

Mr McScroge what a pleasant surprise.. I have filled my bag with cheap monero.
Buy support is at the strongest during the dumps so whales get all the cheap coins people dump and yet prevent the coin from collapsing... what a dirty play on the little guy..

And amazing to see the BTC price go up on tiny usa exchanges with tiny buy volume while China is holding...  People on trollbox inflicting panic due to BTC rise etc...

Yes BTC will go up but when China says so!

Very sleek manipulation taking advantage of the current scenario.

Very smart move to buy now. In my opinion it is always better to have more Moneros than less.  Wink The price doesn't matter.

Honestly I feel like Darknet markets will be the first adopters of any good cryptocurrency.
I didn't realize some had started accepting Monero.
I've been looking into it, hopefully I'm not too late to get some and make a little profit...

Looks like it might be a little bit of a buying opportunity right this very moment. Could go down from here sure. But you wouldnt be buying at any where near ATH. Something to be said for that.
