Looking at the big picture, it feels like XMR fair price should be around 60-80USD. At least. Not saying is going to happen overnight, but it seems this is the direction. If we can do it at steady, slow pace, better.

Hey can someone knowledgable here post a quick synopsis of the situation with XMR LENDING on Poloniex?
I've never done it but just looking around there today noticed that entire section of the site... curious what the actual PROs and CONs are about this.
My XMR stash is basically sitting in a cold address so I'm just thinking maybe put a little of it to work?
That is, as long as the risk isn't too great (?) and/or the reward is worth it (??)
What do you guys think? Anyone around here doing the lending-thing, or have opinions on it strongly one way or the other?

Indeed. I'll take a nice gradual appreciation over some ridiculous *cough* DASH spike. In fact, if those coins switched prices (XMR=$63, DASH=$21) over the next 18 months I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.

I lend when rates are high. It's not even peanuts lately though. A few husks and some salt, thats it. When rates get above 0.1% consistently it aproaches worthwhile, IMO. Looks like people are starting to short, so keep an eye on it, but not yet. ADD: Don't neglect to consider the PITA getting funds back OUT of Poloniex.

Currently the return on best offer is .0001%. Presumably such offers are made short term in order to hook a short borrower, and will be withdrawn later in order to squeeze them. I haven't been watching but my guess is that the lending rates are hyper-volatile.

Available loans shrinking substantially in the last week or so though, so as the price and volume increase, so should the lending rate.

The rates for XMR lending are minuscule. However, if you decide that earning a very small rate is better than nothing and it's worth putting your XMR on the site and locking them in a loan (default is only 2 days, but you can adjust that), then that's the right choice for you. I know all of the warnings about keeping funds on exchanges, and those are valid warnings, but Polo was hacked around 2 EDIT: 3 years ago and they restored people's money. They admitted it up front and did the right thing. I believe the most serious problems they've had since then are DDoS, which they mitigate as good as anyone from my experience. They say they keep the majority of their funds in cold storage. I have a lot on there and don't lose sleep over it.

Funny how this really differs from person to person, I can't sleep having my very own monero/bitcoin over there for even a day (after purchasing). Cryptomoney to me, it may sound cliche, is about being able to be your own bank. I very much like having full control over my own money.

Looking at the big picture, I would say XMR is the most evil cryptocurrency of date. I've never witnessed a lower-level bunch of twisted sociopaths use every neuron of their brains to figure out how to make the world a worse off place for their benefit. Theyre truly no better than the likes of Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo. But yeah I know, if you make a lotta money, regardless of how you made it, you're a legitimate pimp, right?? Wrong. If you cause more harm to the world than good, you're a shit person. And that best summates the entire XMR development crew and their rabid brainless hooligan following. If you knowingly cause pain to others for your own gain, you're not even a modern human. You're just an neanderthal ape, guided by those shitty reptilian instincts which occupy a farther bigger portion of your brain than the normal, decent human being. judgmental much there? There's your clue on what to work on. Poor tormented soul.

Looking at the big picture, I would say XMR is the most evil cryptocurrency of date. Not only that Monero is according to https://moneromonitor.com/episodes/2017-04-10-Episode-002.html ( currently seems it is off to me) actually an only cryptocurency in existing. All the rest are just digitalmoney. Cryptography means "hidden, secret". And everything in Monero will be hidden soon.

Being anti-XMR is not only the domain of pro-Dash people... this kind of posting strikes me as some kind of grassroots attempt to begin to TAR the reputation of Monero with "evil sounding" but totally unsubstantiated words. The purpose of this probably intending to scare off newbies or casual readers who come here to learn about XMR. So, let's think: WHO or what "entity" or "power" might be behind something with this purpose, "Qui Bono"? Frankly, posts like this indicate to me that Monero is getting stronger If Monero is becoming more threatening to the Powers That Be, then it's doing something right

You guys are reading too much into this.
For the newer guys, nutildah (aka MonkeyChanger in Polo trollbox) has been consistently hating on Monero in BCT and trollbox for nearly 3 years now. As far as I can tell, its been hate at first sight.
nutildah likes to pop into the Monero thread every now and then (in-between his tirades against XYZ) to reaffirm his hatred of Monero. Its just par for the course. Normal.
Just ignore and don't quote.

I didn’t check his history, I guess I just assumed that he was a DASH fan that hated Monero since he was trolling us. I guess he could had other reasons for hating us.

Yep, that user has been on my ignore list for a looong time. On price speculation, I was convinced the next big leg up for XMR would take us to 0.04, but these recent moves in LTC, Ripple, etc. make me think it could well be both higher and more sudden. I'm not prepared to leave a big stack in Polo though.

LOL nutildah used to be regular guest in this thread, like 2 years ago and more. He have stash of DASH, NXT and NEM. Not sure what he is doing lately. But yes, in general there are only few on this forum that defend DASH. And simple reason for that is that there are not many that use it or believe in it overall. Monero is one of best coins and as I said in my previous post the only true Cryptocurrency in existence. So lots of people that got their favourite coin for almost free are getting frustrated about it.
