I bet it got pulled from the store due to that Donald Duck image in their screen shots, Google doesn't mess around with copy-write. Hopefully they can get it back up and running on the play store soon.

@Daniel, you should upload a clean .APK to getgems.org, and verify the hash publicly so people know they're installing from a clean source.

Most Google searches include results that it says have been removed for copyright breaches. Google has to some down on copyright infringement like a ton of bricks or risk getting sued itself.

I don't know how hard it is to switch to bits, but hope you guys make this happen soon aswell since bitpay officially changed to bits. Besides is more user friendly to deal with bits that bitcoin. Cheers.

Question about the "Delete account" after 6 months of inactivity (default) under "Privacy and Security" - What happens to the GEMS and Bitcoins in that account.. besides wanting only active users in the network I don't see any reason why accounts should be auto deleted.. it worries me because I have several phones, might want a separate account on each phone, travel a lot and I do often enough leave phones untouched for months on end (that explains why I had to update the OS on the Galaxy S2 to get Gems Messenger to work as mentioned in my earlier post).

What's the reason this auto delete account is added, if the phone is comprimised or stolen auto deletion of the account after 6 months has no added value at all, or am I misunderstanding and will the account remain available / accessible on the network and is the account only deleted on the phone itself.. leaving GEMS and Bitcoins floating untill someone reactivates the account with their account name and pass-phrase?

 

I really don't like the idea of accounts being automatically deleted. Maybe if they were inactive with a zero balance? Even then.

When I registered it didnt give me an opportunity to put the actual messenger code into the app? It by then starting asking me for who referred me?

Does this mean my wallet is not in operation?

I was one of the few that downloaded the app from Google Play before it was flagged, but now I am wondering if it will update automatically when the updated version hits Google Play again.

OK this app is awesome, i have a couple points don't know if the first one is a bug or a fault on my side.

I just added Daniel from global search within the app which is pretty cool that you don't need someones number.

- So i invited a friend and upon inviter step she mentioned my name. When she activated her account i got a notification that she has joined Gems and she appeared in my contacts list, but i didn't appear in her contact list. We can text each other but because i'm not in her contact list she has to send me an invite to install Gems while i already have it installed on my device. However she has me on the conversation list but not on her 'contacts' list.

- Just in case it's not build in yet, when there is a new update ready users should be notified to update to the new version.

Will the total supply also drop as a percentage - IE Originally 50% going to presale = 34 million, so will it be also 34 million divided up for airdrop, bonuses etc?

100 million GEMS is the total currency supply in the GENESIS BLOCK. Eventual supply is achieved as follows: 50 million Gems distributed to stakeholders; 30 million Gems distributed as daily Airdrop rewards during ~3 years after launch; 12 million Gems reserved for bonus block rewards, promotion, marketing, bounties; 8 million Gems + Presale BTC will fund the network R&D and operation costs.

Some notes on my experience with GEMS so far.

1. Direct download via http://getgems.org/dl works fine on the Lenovo A850+ (Android 4.2.2):

I ran into the same problem earlier today.. I wasn't able to find a contact by username, though she had it installed. Having a hard time adding contacts in general, the gems contact list only reads a limited random amount of the people in my phone's contacts list.. She had to send me a message and I later had to merge the two contacts to get it to work properly.

At the default Gems page that shows your contacts, if you hit the search button in the top right you can input/search usernames that are not on your list.  I agree with you tho, finding or adding people not on your list is a bit difficult cause the contacts page and the "Home Gems Screen" look like the same list of contacts almost.

two issues Ive seemed to have. On the welcome screen the last letter doesn't fit, I assume everyone else has seen this.

when I type Bitcoin with a capital B it doesn't recognise it in the wallet. Plus it doesnt like .01 bitcoin   you got to add the 0 so 0.01 bitcoin.

I'm dying to install this app, but I'm a little nervous.  It wants access to so many features on my phone.  Is all of that access necessar necessary?  I don't think Facebook messenger wanted that much access.

Is it safe for me to install??

I think gems has the potential to be bitcoins killer app, but granting that much access to an app will scare away the mainstream.

I couldn't really find any bugs besides someone mentioning the last letter isn't visible on the welcome screen and some issues with adding contacts raised here. Impressive for the first release. I hope for a switch from bitcoin to bits though in the bitcoin wallet section with the addition to mention that 1 bitcoin is equal to 1 million bits for the common person.

There was never a 50 million distribution.
