You pay a maintenance/electricity fee for each GH that you own.  When the pool doesn't mine enough blocks in a day, it can cost more to run the miners than you are making, and as such, you lose money.  Go read through the ToS under the shop button to learn more.

So anyone want to guess on the price of the new SP50 from Spondoolie? I have emailed them for a price, but nothing back yet. I'm guessing 45-50K based on cost per gh and the S7 as a baseline. Anyone know more about this miner's cost? Its 1/3 more efficient then the S7 at .15j

Just got this email from Spondoolie

Thank you for your email and your interest in the SP50. We are excited and proud to unveil our next generation machine as a breakthrough product for industrial mining.

With its extremely low power consumption and modular design the SP50 has been specifically designed for maximum power efficiency and ease of management.

Initially the SP50 will be offered in limited quantities only to a select group of customers. As we scale up production we hope to offer the SP50 to a wider market. At that time we will publish pricing and shipping terms.

We thank you for your interest in the SP50 and look forward to working with you.

Regards,

Barbara

Wow, 34 blocks today and still 20min to go. Antpool has not seen such a good day in a while. Last was like 31 blocks last week.

Where is all the people saying that Antpool is broken because it found too many blocks today?  So easy to jump on them when they have a bad day

Yea, agree. This AM I got a bunch of s5 hash for .00075, climing all day. Don't really trade much but my v3 PACs are paying principal back so wallet keeps growing and want to invest it somewhere.

Frankly, I think they're hiding something from us!  Why won't they communicate why everything is working so well?!?

Oh right, it's averages doing what they do....

I found a page on hashnest, cannot remember the url, but it suggests alternative investment options to their site. On of which is Mining Sweden where you can get 200Gh/s and a 25/1000% for ~$3000

I hold a 1 Gh/s antminer s5 with them and in the first 6 hours of yesterdeay it had paid me 0.00000400 btc! that's quite good for six hours on antpool. However, antpool don't take the 1% payment that most other bitcoin pools do!

Can someone explain me.. i have 1040Ghash S4    in 3 days i have  -0.002 on my account Huh
how can be minus Huh?
 Huh

That seems quite odd and I would seriously suggest that you don't deposit any money into that account! That suggests that the transaction fee was greater than the amount won by the antminer s4 from antpool. Antpool shouldn't create debt with people though!

Please read the contract, you can most certainly lost money on these investments.  Every second you hold a contract, you are accruing maintenance fees, then it is trued up when a block is found.  If you have more accrued than you receive from the block, you will lose money on that block.  Longer blocks will create lower profits for the owner of the GH/s, and could eventually cause a loss if the block takes long enough to find.

Some of the worries are stopped when using antpool as the profit is split proportionally between all of the users.

I don't know what that means, all pools split rewards proportionately unless it is a solo pool.

So what's the general consensus on S7?
Expensive but long term gain worth it?

Or but cheap S5 at like 0.9/0.8btc per miner?

I meant that antpool have three stratum serversso the profit from all three are split between the users meaning that if one of the servers is having a spot of "bad luck" then the other servers will still be producing similar results!

The s7 seems a better option as the mining reward is halving next june. IF the roi is before then, then you are fine but at that time the mainteance will be greater than the rewards that you get. Unless you want the miner to be delivered to you next year of course. If so then set up another account with the S5 so you don't lose any of your bitcoins!

Congrats to nice sales, however could you elaborate which asics are used for additional offer? It's hard to believe you had so many spare old S2 antminers.

It would be nice to adjust maintenance fees for umisoo in case you added newer machines (S3, S4) to the the farm.
