So what's the general consensus on S7?
Expensive but long term gain worth it?

Or but cheap S5 at like 0.9/0.8btc per miner?

Perhaps I misunderstanding what you mean by "cheap".

Today they have 843 items of S7 in stock for 1923.0 USD(8.25672356฿), which will give you 4,860 GHS.

As a comparison, they have 616 in stock of the old S5s for 367.0 USD(1.57547107฿), giving you 1,155 GHS.

Of course the maintenance and power fees differ between the machines.

Maybe this person was referring to the market price of the antminer s5! I teems to be around 0.9 btc

I cannot find one main and vital piece of information anywhere. CAn the main hashnest user help me. I need to know the  ROI of the antminer s7 to know when users can start earning money (when their initial investment has been paid off!)

That makes sense, can't understand why I did not read it that way, thanks.

Does anyone remember when they opened up the market for S5 after the initial sale of whole mashines?

ROI doesn't quite work that way. You have to consider influences of increasing difficulty, BTC price and even stuff like regulation on a globe scale. Of course one can calculate a ROI at the conditions we have know, but that will say very little of the "real" ROI and are practical useless, imho.

yep is right, there are only guesses and estimations, and they are never accurate. if u cant follow the market  on the regular and make some decent trades  , there is a high probablity u will lose.  there are winners and losers in this game.  people dont get that mining is speculation  , not a money printing machine.

Yes sorry, you can pick up 1155ghs on the market for around 0.88btc currently.

That is a pretty good price. Just wondering if it would be worth picking up cheaper S5's or getting some S7's to play the long term game?

I would wait until S7 starts trading on Hashnest and see how market shakes out after a few days. If an uptrend in S7 price establishes put in a bid so you can buy on a pullback. Then you have to decide when to take profits.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the way I see it is more TH/s is good?
So:
2x S7 = 16.2btc
4860 x2 = 9720
Current maintenance = 28.85%
9720 - 28.85% leaves you with = 6916 GH\s.

16.2btc @ S5 market = 20950 GH\s
Current maintenance = 58.49%
20950 - 58.49% = 8697 GH\s

Thing is I know S7 will last longer, but seems S5 will give more profit for longer?
I.E S7 needs to overcome the deficit of 1781 GH\s before it even started?

Thoughts?

The S5 value is prone to flash crashing; you know the S7 value will be stable.  If you are going to be checking the market rate constantly; I would go with the S5.  If you don't want to be constantly monitoring I would go with the S7.

This being said the high volatility of the S5 market can make for some huge profits if you make the right calls.   Wink

You previous post is a good snapshot; but it is static.  It is misleading because the inevitable increase in difficulty will not effect the current maintenance for the S5 and the S7 in the same way.  Your comparison seems to suggest it is a linear relationship; it is not.

For example; if the difficulty increased 20% you would lose only about 600GH with the S7 but about 1.7TH with the S5.

There are no static or stable word on mining.

Everyday we have a different results which depends on block finding.

S7 "maybe" more profitable than S5, we can see it until today. They still hold it for themselves.

or maybe that is just to make S5 price d.r.o.p

They don't hold the S7s for themselves, you can order them for "1923.0 USD (8.02680443฿)" with over 800 in stock. I have been very close to buying one, but almost 2K feels too much for 4860 GHS, especially when considering the power it draws. But I haven't done any detailed calculations; I'd like to see them traded at a market.

From my perspective, they still hold it for themselves because they do not added S7 on the market. Let's see how long they will "hold". They cannot announce S7 without added that on the market.

1923.0 USD is too expensive for me to try and previewing S7.

I have heard S7 will added on the market on first October, or maybe that is just a rumour.

I've had the same issue. I sent them a ticket and they explained that all WDs over 1BTC needs manual approval. If that is true I don't know, I done fast WDs after that over 1BTC, but that what they said.

After my ticket I never had any problems, btw.

What a landslide today on the S5 hash, went as low as .00069 and been trading around 75-77 all week. Think its due to the S7 coming online or the next diff increase tomorrow which looks tame at 2-3%, lower then the last 2 increases. Sold most of my hash but thinking of getting back in at the 69-70 level and see where it goes over the next several days. But just trying to better understand todays slide and what the catalyst was. Any feedback from users that have been trading hash for a while would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I thought it would bottom at ~.00075, but guess not - I was buying still at .00077. My hope is that the S7s will bring up total pool hash and S5 will be the choice of hash power when people see how much S7 costs...for now, I hold.
