Will personally be present at InterSolar in Germany https://www.intersolar.de/en/home.html , next June 10-12 and meeting some installers. With the websites now up and running, I believe the focus of attention should now be oriented towards adding/registering solar applications.

Bravo!  Smiley

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Making deals with installers seems like an important marketing strategy. Good luck with the meetings in Germany!

There is still a lot to be said for the potential of having a crypto coin (or any currency for that matter) that is verifiably distributed only on the basis that users in the system capture a powerful and renewable form of energy from our host star.

No matter what anyone wants to speculate, if enough claimants come into this space eventually that will give solar companies and many other businesses a reason to enter the space looking to use the tokens or "coins" as a means of deriving activity-based value in the market. Its like going to Kroger in some sense and getting loyalty points, but in this case we know all the security and benefits of crypto are added on top.. making this coin that much more badass.

This coin represents a mindset of change, and the people backing it see that. Now if only we can get claimants to jump onboard and see the future potential of this coin BEYOND just the fiat-to-SLR relationship we all drool over.

In some sense this coin could act as an amazing mechanism for moving value around in a future world that will surely have majority solar-based power driving it's machines.... that is something NO other crypto can offer, and for that matter I am trying to think of any other currency in existence that has been this progressive and is also based on capturing the readily available source of our ENTIRE being.   I can't find any for some reason?  Wink

This coin may or may not fail, but the concept is amazingly solid and in the world of economics those types of ideas tend to carry forward regardless of what one person or group attempts to use them for.

Just some food for thought Smiley

You drool because you want to get back to Fiat. If you just used the coin internally there is no reason to drool. You show you want people to jump onboard so you can cash out on them or they hope to cash out on you by claiming. No change here just market greed. Like I said make each coin worth a satoshi then people will know you want to use it for good.

Hi all,

Just some updates from presenting at the third level stage of #slushasia startup conference.

-We had two questions (1) what can you buy with SolarCoin and (2) which solar industry companies are onboard?
-We started talks with Japanese Ripple Coin market makers

I answered both saying that at the moment you can buy candles from SolarCoin directly and mapping services.
In the future we expect to have more merchants onboard.

We are still yet to engage solar industry companies regarding SolarCoin however there is talk of meetings at InterSolar in Europe.
We have already met solar industry participants in Japan and they have knowledge of the existence of SolarCoin.
The focus is to increase knowledge and understanding about solarcoin inside the solar industry globally, it is something we are doing each day.

We have started talks with Japanese Ripple coin market makers. They will possibly help the SolarCoin mission.

Thanks,
Yours in the light,
lfloorwalker

The best way to my mind for convenience etc. is to use a USB drive.  Create a seperate wallet on a cold machine. etc. replace litecoin with solarcoin here: http://dustin.io/2013/12/setting-up-cold-storage-and-active-storage-litecoin-wallets/

Solarcoin (§ SLR) are like airmiles. Each 1 Mhw generated gets you §1 free. Solarcoins can purchase what others will trade: USD,BTC, Soy candles..etc.

floorwalker is my hero.

thanks, I saw the news of Elon Musk, he is a great inspiration to me and my work. Sometimes I feel like working all night to solve problems after seeing his speeches...

http://www.theverge.com/2015/5/1/8527543/elon-musk-tesla-battery-feels

Then we can add SolarCoin metering to the distributed systems that musk sells! Awesome!!

Too bad you can't use SolarCoin to buy the Powerwall. It costs real money not PoW generated money, well if you can find buyers of PoW generated coin you can buy Powerwalls with it. Smiley

We have started talks with Japanese Ripple coin market makers. They will possibly help the SolarCoin mission.

I'm glad to hear that SolarCoin is thinking about getting on Ripple. I think this would be a significant benefit to any altcoin, because it enables people to buy the coin directly for dollars, euros, and other fiat currencies. Most ordinary people in the world don't necessarily want to have to buy Bitcoins just to get another cryptocurrency they're interested in. In fact some of the progressive types of people who could be interested in a project like SolarCoin tend to have negative views of Bitcoin.

I would be happy to provide input on how you could get the SolarCoin blockchain bridged with Ripple so that Ripple users can buy and trade SLR for fiat, transfer SLR from their Ripple wallet to an external SolarCoin wallet and vice versa. It's a complex process of how it actually works, technologically speaking, and it takes a lot of study and networking with the right people to implement this.

My own new cryptocurrency project which just launched, Grantcoin, went through this learning curve and will be one of the first altcoins with a fully automated gateway/bridge into Ripple, coming in June. I would be happy to put the SolarCoin team in touch with people who could get the job done for you. But I should also note, it will cost a significant amount of money unless you could find somebody to do it for a SLR grant, which may be a challenge since this is serious development work, much harder than just implementing PoSV or something like that.

Let me know if interested to discuss Ripple bridging.

Freebird, that is great stuff.  Congratulations on launching grantcoin. The more innovative thinking around using economics for good, the better. I am sure Luke and team would be interested to learn your thoughts on Ripple integration. We will reach out.
