Thanks for all your work, Kano!

Variance is always horrible, but good that it evens out in the long run.

The problem with such variance during huge difficulty increases is, while you may even out luck wise in the long run, you don't BTC wise.  That's about 7 days - half the difficulty period - when there were no blocks. Sad

We're approaching a 20% increase in difficulty in < 24 hours.

M

I mine at Kano's Pool because it pays the best and is completely transparent!  Come join me!

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

It took all my farm animals and damn near lost my dog and wife but we finally appeased the chain gods!

When I saw that block I instantly thought of you poor wife.... Wink

I was glad to hear he did not have to sacrifice his dog.  A good dog is hard to replace.  Wink

Why does btc.com have the Kano Pool at only 19.24Ph/s? All the other stats look correct, but that stood out as odd.

Kano told the guys who are renting hashes to exit the pool for a little bit.  Didn't realize that extra 30+ PH was rented (we were around 90 PH for quite awhile).  He wanted to rule some things out on the possible problems with the pool.

Reminds me of a situation last year, don't remember the details but there were also rentals and their correlation to the unluck period.

another person that had to bow out of mining here for the time being decided to go for a steady less variance but less money option of renting his hash out to nice hash. and I was looking at there info for selling them hashing power. and when I was reading all there info one what sort of rates they have and what some one has to do for difrent miners there was some thing even on there site saying some bug or issue with some bitmain miners. I forget if it was s7s or the s9 that they said had to have a certian firmware upgrade for them to work threw nicehash due to a known issue with some of them when going threw nicehash to a pool dont find blocks.    and to me it sounded almost like it was saying they would increase a pools hash rate but not increase the chances of finding a block at all.

They report based on "effective" hash rate i.e. blocks found per whatever is their reference time. Add in bad luck, and the numbers are such...

I think i saw that also. It was about the S9

Awesome! Finally the blocks are coming...

In other news -- Can someone tell me how this is possible?
  • 491,802 is found by Shitfury   at 2017-10-25 23:52:04
  • 491,803 is found by BTC.FLOP at 2017-10-25 23:52:05

And a couple blocks before that 2 separate blocks were "found" by FUPool ~27 seconds apart...  It really feels like btc network manipulation or maybe their PH/s or EH/s are too high for the current difficulty to be effective against them?

Would appreciate anyone's thoughts on the matter...

Our record I think is 3 seconds between 2 blocks we found.

Edit: nope looks like it's 8 seconds.
Block 463196 and Block 463197 were 8 seconds apart.

Hello Mr Kano, are these two block the result of luck or the consequence of your last software upgrading?

have you thought about publishing the node's software changelog?

The changes are nothing to do with bitcoind. My explanation made that clear.

Until we have a run of a dozen or so blocks without ridiculous bad luck, I don't consider the problem solved.
I'll also be getting access to more data to analyse soon to decide if there are problems in the code before I changed it.
As I said before, I'm looking into this in as many ways as possible, to verify if there is a reason, under our control, that caused it.

That is just wild...  Now if we found THREE BLOCKS 8 seconds apart... I'd have to start worshipping your anime goddesses at that point lol

As I said ...
I'll be cautious of assuming everything is ok until we have a good run of about a dozen blocks, and no ridiculously bad blocks in that run.
Of course also, as long as I find no evidence of a problem in any of the checks I'm doing.
We'll see ... Smiley
