Nov 2016 is close to ancient history.
Not sure how the date (of 5 months ago) is relevant....

because he said something else few days ago along the lines of "stop bothering me about this; 1% pool will not shift the balance either way".

now you are posting something said a year ago, that's pre-historical.
i am too lazy to find recent quote, but i just might.

This one:
2 things:

1) please stop asking about segwit over and over, your multiple posts on the subject have been answered many times.

2) a currently smaller than 1% pool will not "significantly reduce the likely hood of a contentious fork"
*
?

"2" was obviously an addition to "1", not a "new perspective" or "new thought on the subject". Wink

*relevant emphasis added

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

Quote
So the vagaries of my reply are that we all need to hope that no one is stupid enough to force a fork at 50%, and then once a network fork gets high support, you know what you will need to switch to for when it activates.

If it happens at 50% then your probably best to stop using your Bitcoins until the problems die down and there's a definite winner.

Edit: 'sources' say BU requires 75% for 2 weeks, so I guess all the talk around about lower %s is probably trying to scare people into making decisions.
But anyway, if BU ever does reach 75%, that means you should have 2 weeks to sort things out.
... and the 2 weeks is probably 2016 blocks, which if there is a fork of any sort would mean more than 2 weeks.

emphasis mine.

....

It should be noted that your argument of time is meaningless as Kano's opinion/beliefs on the subject hasn't wavered (thus making every post of equal relevance, regardless of posting date).

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

it does not matter, you can have whatever you want, just don't ask me to approve your choice somehow.
besides, how is this NOW relevant to kano's pool?
I am here because i like it and I respect his opinion/dissent.

Sorry if this is explained somewhere else, but I saw the latest block was only like 90kb while most others hover around 990kb (and have ~1.5 btc more in transaction fees).

Why are some blocks like this?

Because when Kano takes his 0.9% (making for 1 transaction), it's not an empty block.  Tongue

Sorry, but I don't understand what you said. I had the same question when I saw the "Block Reward" for the latest block was 12.6 something. Since finding a block  is 12.5 BTC right now (I think) does it mean that there were no transaction fees in this block? Sorry if this is obvious to others, but I'm only a month into being a miner. Still trying to figure out how it all works.

Our block came only 6 seconds after the previous block. There likely weren't very many transactions out there to put into our block.

"not very many" (actually greater than 8MB) is still > none. Wink

I have actually a post on this in the thread here - I'm just saying this to mean that I have said it before, not that anyone needs to find it, I'll repeat it here.

That was the code changes to use core 0.13.x with segwit disabled.

On a block change, the block size is 88,888 - it then switches to the full size 988,888 with the work change.
Thus this block was found before the first work change, is the reason it was smaller.

It of course included our payout for 458455 also.

I struck out ComputerGenie's comment - it's complete nonsense.

But it's completely incorrect.

The coinbase transaction must exist in all blocks, even empty blocks.
The coinbase transaction is what sends the 12.5BTC + txn fees to wherever it goes, in our case 99.1% to the pool balance and 0.9% to an address that I decide what happens with (usually to me, but as in December, ~3.1 BTC went back to the miners)

His question was with regards to other transactions in the block, which was indeed less than most of the blocks we find.
