That is not the official statement of the dev team. Please reconsider what you are doing, this is not a healthy mindset to have. As humans, we are supposed to build things up, not break them down. It is our duty. Please reconsider.
Exactly. I mean ALL they did was hire TFM/AM, work with CZ, jl7777, and who knows who all else outside of their team, implement some improvements under duress, and avoid, best they could, poking the bear. If you're just a lowly non-whale hodler such as myself, you'd have to be pretty impressed with the way the team responded. I can't speak for professionally knowledgeable folks, but the fact that they reached out and, well, EVOLVED, both the code and the way CN teams applied efforts across coins. I'd think that would give you some renewed hope. It's probably the only way crypto CAN truly evolve. Hell, I need to get to sleep, and I suspect you are going to do, or not do, whatever it is that you've already chosen. I don't care if my non-whale stake of XMR gets nuked. I view it all as speculation, anyway--small portfolio potatoes for me. My personal stake amounts to about what I'll probably lose betting on football games this weekend. But it seems pretty clear that they did everything possible...more than I would have thought possible, given the difficulty of proving a negative...in a pretty short period of time. And, oh by the way, not every XMR holder is a douchebag. The last couple pages of replies have, I think, been pretty reasonable. Mostly.

Let's be adults here. It isn't that hard, I promise.
It is hard to take that statement seriously coming from someone named "black Jesus." Sorry if I was wrong, I didn't know it had already been discussed. Carry on... I was listening to Everlast when I picked a nickname on Polo. I'm neither black, nor am I Jesus. It happened to be the song I was listening to at the time. At any rate, it should be taken seriously. BCX is needlessly causing harm. He is able to do so because of the attack on AUR. With AUR, there was a strong argument that the coin was a scam. Monero is different. He's said so himself. Yet he is causing discord because he is pissed at what a few people in these forums have said about him. For all he knows, some of them could be provoking him hoping that he will execute an attack, which will send speculators away from XMR and toward their own coin. At the end of the day, he is harming people who have done nothing to him. And he is harming a project that could be a pretty good thing. There is no rational excuse for his behavior that I've seen. I invite him to prove me wrong.

And he is harming a project that could be a pretty good thing. Eyes and beholders and so forth... There was something that didn't sit right with me the way the Monero team went around preaching the gospel of monero... It was almost kind of cultish because everyone was in one unified mind about reality and the future, which always strikes me as disturbing and a warning sign. I don't say these kinds of things often but if you hold monero you really should consider divesting in the near future. another 4 blocks in the last minute.

But that is why I called it speculating before. I think we can both agree that Monero has a fairly low chance of becoming very valuable in the future. I just happen to think the chance is much higher than the market price implies. Obviously people do not always see eye to eye on things. But making childish, terroristic threats at sabotage is never acceptable. No one benefits.

another 4 blocks in the last minute.
By my math, with 1 block per minute mean rate, one should see 4 blocks in the same minute about once every hour or so. Is this correct?

Academic interest in bitcoin only. Not owner, not trader, very skeptical of its longterm success.

Has the attack started?
There is no attack, BCX is just lies, why ppl keep giving attention to this clown? He was never responsible for AUR, he is a sociopath social engineer playing on ppls fear, well not mine, he is just rolling BS again. I know nothing of BCX or his motives, but unless there is real evidence one can only assume he is playing a game. Put up or shut up. He characterises this as a 'game', but that is crazy. Small guys have invested money, and the dev team would obviously be open to any serious communication from BCX. He may be a sociopath, or an alcoholic, or just a very stupid lonely guy who needs attention. If his location and identity is known then he's playing with fire too. You kick a dog, it'll bite you. If you kick a pack of dogs you'll probably get mauled to death. This is game like mafia and organised crime. You pick a fight thinking it's a game, maybe you lose, and get hurt. I'm only a small holder, but I think BCX is probably full of shit, but who knows. If he can destroy monero then he'd do it. Why the running commentary? Would seem to indicate he can't but wants to fool people so they stroke his ego. Maybe monero is dead, but maybe BCX ends up the same way if he loses this game. Most rational explanation is he trolling coz he didn't buy in lower.

Price hasn't moved. I think to get any effect this time BCX needs more than just ominous words.
No cheap coins for BCX now without some real evidence.
Well, if you zoom out and look at 1 month you can see the 2 day dip during the "attack" but then it went back to the 1 month downtrend it was on anyway. Exactly right, price is moving down - now at .00325002 on Polo.

No one should get hurt, period. Perhaps authorities can be alerted if appropriate, depending on whether he actually carries out an attack and how it is done. It doesn't seem like he's gone through great length to hide his identity given a cursory review of his posting history, though it is at least obfuscated. I doubt he'd break the law - it would be foolish to do so. The industry has matured considerably in the past months, and crimes that would have gone unnoticed end in arrests and prison time. So if there is an exploit, I doubt he would do anything illegal to accomplish it, like steal.

According to whom? I think they might feel like they've uncovered some potential issues. You demanded forced evolution.
I don't recall reading anything indicating that the dev team was ready to start licking each others' popsicles and throwing a victory party. Certainly, that attitude exists, but, shit, trolling is everywhere. Hard to demand forced evolution of the user/speculator base.
Try this.~BCX~ Its over. TW attacks will never again work against XMR. If you read the last commit on github, you'll know the whole answer. ANN here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg8961211#msg8961211XMR Dev team rose to the challenge of forced evolution in the time available. They have crafted a polymorphic bitmonerod+client that adds checkpoints at will and with no dev team intervention needed. Its a decentralized self-maintainable solution that scales as needed. Even if you DDoS github, checkpoints can still be deployed. Thanks are due to BCX for initiating the game. I hope it was rewarding, even though he was outplayed, this time. If there are also some other anon-busters, but that don't rely on defanged TW, they're probably rested and ready for a rematch by now. You said you were attacking before that was said so how can something that happens after you say you are doing something be the cause for you doing it? As this line ended here I would like to inform you that you have completed the aptitude test. You are eminently qualified to be a politician. Congratulations.

So if there is an exploit, I doubt he would do anything illegal to accomplish it, like steal. Hey man, I am in no way advocating anyone use violence in this matter. All I'm saying is that BCX by his actions might provake that response from people who see his actions as threatening their interests. That's not me, and even if it was, I think I'm way beyond seeing violence as the answer to anything. BUT, that doesn't mean there aren't those who do, and stating that possibility isn't advocating that course of action. as we probably need the 72 hours to analyze this fully.
You have your 72 hours, I keep my word. At that point in time I launch, If you are cured, you're good to go. If not, your dead. Forced evolution is a beautiful thing. ~BCX~ PS The why is here. Posted by another user but is dead on the money as far as my philosophy. I promise you, I dont need the BTC. Still shooting shots of Stoli Elite
Love this shit.http://youtu.be/HqcbgSpHMFs?t=25sBCX by his own admission thinks this is a 'game', but that's like thinking if you burnt down a mafia guys house, that's a game. This isn't a game, and plenty of scary people lurk in the crypto space. That's my point. I don't like violence, but BCX is attracting a lot of bad karma, and some of that could result in people wanting some pay back. I'm against that, but it's pretty obvious there are those effected that wouldn't be.

Variance would ensure that some blocks take longer or shorter to solve. Bitcoin regularly has block times of over 40 minutes. The last 6 blocks have taken 80 minutes to solve, far from Bitcoin's regular 10 minute block time. I guess BCX is attacking Bitcoin as well.

fluffypony why on earth did you call yourself fluffypony?
In my first (proper) job (at a bespoke software house in Johannesburg) there were two younger ladies in the sales dept who called themselves fluffybunny and fluffypuppy. I never asked how that came about. One evening at a team building weekend, after copious amounts of alcohol and the three of us were the last ones standing, they decided I needed a fluffy nickname. They initially wanted to call me fluffyhorse, and in my infinite wisdom I said that sounded stupid, so we settled on fluffypony instead. It kinda stuck after everyone I worked with started calling me FP, so I decided to just run with it:)
