So I've been playing with the hash to see what is needed to keep the chain in sync with C-Cex and it looks like close to 400Mh/s is what's needed.

I tried a test down to 200Mh/s -- but it then got "Out of Sync" again.

I'll bring her back up to 400Mh/s for a while and see how things go.  Hopefully this amount of hash will at least keep it stable.  I'm not sure.

Meanwhile - with these extra coins -- I'm going to have a special faucet designed for SONG.  I don't want it to look like the typical faucets that you see -- where they almost feel scam-like with ads and stuff.  Should have more details soon. 

I don't plan to step on anyone's toes -- well unless you have really big feet!

Cheers last night I rented 400MH/s for 6 hours to aid the backlog effort and I was interested to see the network hash report failed to shift.  Obviously the transactions started moving but this was curious.  Can anyone explain?

Looks like we may change over to KGW, this algorithm is a bit flaky now that there's some distance on the blockchain.  Anyway we're having a serious look at the possibilities.

The reported hashrate has always been delayed proportional to the amount of hash currently applied.

So in other words - somehow the less hash you have on the coin -- the longer it takes to report it.  The more hash you have on the coin -- the less time it takes to report it, but it is still delayed.  Even at 2Gh/s -- I found it to be several hours delayed in actually reporting the correct amount.

The only way you can find out the true hash is to add up all the known pools (and then look for any unknown pools).  Based on the blocks being found -- it appears that the total hashrate is about 420Mh/s.  I know 380Mh/s is mine and I'm pretty certain 40Mh/s is from Dynoman.  You can see this on the hash-to-coins.com front page.

I'm not trying to sound like a broken record but…

Regarding SONG -- can anyone explain to me how this coin was or is going to be used?  I'm completely confused at this point.  I've heard talks of an online wallet, then an Android app and then something about paying artists 70%…  And then selling items… So many ideas now??  It is confusing…

From a pure technical standpoint -- if you make it just a plain jane KGW - miners won't mine it unless there is something backing the coin.  I mean - miners aren't mining it now - lol.  I hope that some thought will be put into it -- making it stable and also attractive to mine (and not just another clone).

Yes - I've read that article from quite a while back.  But it sounds like that idea may not be in play anymore?  And that financing is an issue now?

On a technical note -- I was hoping I could reduce the "maintenance" hash down around 300Mh/s to 350Mh/s -- but it has caused the block chain to get out of sync.

I'll up it back to 400Mh/s (as that seems to be the minimum required) - but I'm not sure how long I am willing to do this without knowing a master plan.  Only makes sense.  The cost right now to buy 400Mh/s is about .09 BTC (assuming Bitcoin stays near $300USD).

Thanks HD for explaining the slow reporting time-frame.  That's what I was doing before, looking for the pool hash and adding them up for a rough idea and obviously then seeing the blockchain start working again.

With further regard to the future development plans in the real world:

The way I see it now is to continue work on the adoption phase.  I commend Pab for all his efforts, he works so hard at this.  Encourage Artists and Fans to adopt the coin and this will appreciate the value.  In turn using the Development Fund (Pre-mine) this will enable us to pursue the development of other ideas in the future such as the ones I've proposed in earlier interviews.  So if you like then, the beauty of a successful cryptocurrency is that it can create it's own value/equity base and negate (to an extent) the need for external VC funding. Case in point: My original investment in Bitcoin paid for most of the development of the Songcoin back-end. 

The VC's I spoke to on Tuesday were a little perplexed.  Why are you here if you're not chasing funding?  Well the answer is that we have future implementation plans that will benefit the Entrepreneurs and the VC community and I want people to know we're out here.  Not a bad thing when your shaking hands with one of RB's mates.  Mad keen Kiteboarders

Good news to: I've had an early expression of interest from "Amanda Frikken Palmers" team and surprise surrprise they know nothing about crypto's.  So I'm working hard on this one.  She'd be an amazing advocate to have on board for Songcoin.

Patience and hard work is what we need now and I welcome input from anyone who has an idea? Happy to listen and support where I can.

Well I originally said that I would put 180Mh/s on the coin for 72 hours with donations determining if anyone even cared.  Then it was determined that 180Mh/s would not be enough hash and that the sweet spot was more like 400Mh/s.  I put 400Mh/s on it for almost 2 days.

Based on the lack of donations - it looks like no one really cares if I put hash on the coin or not.

During the last high difficulty period -- I was the one putting sometimes 1Gh/s on the coin consistently.  Let me know if you need proof.  I have easily spent (or given up) over 5 BTC just on hash for this coin, with not much to show for it.  Yes - I have some SONG coin -- but what do I do with it?

I was hoping that a real plan would be laid out for SONG -- but all I'm seeing is a plan to have a plan.  And the need to raise money for the coin.

Would you spend $25.00 USD a day on something that has no real plan?

My thinking right now is to put hash down on the coin here and there.  But constantly doesn't make financial sense. 

(BTW - regarding the two donations I did receive -- I'll be happy to return them to you if you feel that I have not contributed to this coin enough).

Ok - so 400Mh/s seems to be the magic # as the block chain changed to "OK" status.

Not sure if people realize but Cryptopia.co.nz is trading SONG.  There's barely any activity, so if you can move some coin there - it would be helpful.  I'll do this myself in the morning (as it is 2am where I live).

Cryptopia is kind of cool as you can buy / sell items with different coins on their site as well.

I'm also in the process of creating a mining pool just for SONG - with extra rewards for miners.  Hopefully this will encourage more miners to hash at it.

I don't feel cheated at all HD.  A deals a deal.  Just disappointed I suppose as clearly you can offer a lot to Songcoin.

I've appreciated your input past few months.  Bringing issues to my attention that perhaps would've otherwise been missed.  Eye's and ear's are important.

I've mentioned many times I'd love to get involved (and this means putting real money into the coin) - but it is obvious there is no set plan for this SONG.  Perhaps there was in the beginning, but it looks like that has fallen through.

I think anyone would be weary of putting $5k to $10k into a coin where one person holds 80% of the holdings and is unwilling to sell a stake in it for assistance or a partner.  It is like a corporation in a sense, but without any legal ramifications.  Majority shareholder (or coin holder) can take it where he wants to go and easily veto (or disrupt) the work of any minority shareholder (or coin holder).

And then really for $5k anyone could just go ahead and create - then promote a coin of their own.  Companies like Altcoin guys will setup a coin, online wallet, PC and Mac wallets and block explorer for less than $1200.  Pools can easily be setup for next to nothing and hash is easy to buy.  Then you just need to promote the coin enough to get it listed on a 3rd tier exchange like C-Cex and you're set for the next move.

Why don't I do this myself?  I'm not one to venture into projects solo - its not fun - and I don't have all talents to really make something like this successful (I'm just a big techie now that has owned a couple of small radio stations years ago). 

I thought I saw an opportunity with SONG - but without a set plan and no way to become a larger shareholder quickly -- it is way too risky.

I guess the only other route one could take is to put a lot of hash into mining SONG and buy up coins quickly -- so that one becomes a much larger shareholder.  And in the process go a different route in promoting SONG.  This is a possibility I suppose...  I don't know - I'm just perplexed by the whole thing.

And to all - I do apologize for a wide crazy range of rants on here.  No I'm not bi-polar - LOL - but have recently adopted a baby girl (so I've had a lot of sleepless nights) and on top of that my other child was badly injured in a playground incident recently.  It has been a tough month.

So if things change in organization and a clear plan proposed with options to buy more SONG coin - then I'll certainly reconsider this venture.

Well - I'm perplexed at the lack of support for this coin. 

Regardless, I have an investment in this coin now and to protect this investment I've decided to dedicate a minimum of 250Mh/s to the coin (24/7) - just so that transactions actually go through.  It won't make things smooth, but it is better than nothing behind it (which will result in complete failure of the coin - as everyone will drop this coin if transactions don't go through in a timely manner).  Plus, pools will eventually drop this coin if there is no support behind it.

How can you help?

1.  Rent hash to mine the coin (although it is cheaper to use your own equipment)

2.  Buy SONG on C-Cex (this coin needs to be bought at over 1300 sats to look profitable to any miner)

3.  SONG will be delisted over time if there is not decent volume on C-Cex -- so buy and sell away!

We need a real timeline from the development team as to what is going on with SONG -- otherwise this is just a waste of hash.

I've offered to help in other ways - but the dev team seems to be a tight group.  I'm also willing to take over SONG if the developer is ready to just sell it off and move on.

It's not so perplexing really as altcoins are a hard sell to to the music community.  I've contacted many and the general response is that they don't understand how cryptocurrencies work.  There's the major adoption sticking point and it will take some time for the mainstream to understand the concept of a universal decentralized unit of exchange. (Perfect medium of exchange for micropayments)  Seemingly, they've got no issue putting down a track that nobody will listen to for $6K but when it comes to them trying to promote Songcoin that will cost them only time that's a completely different story.

Spotify Resident Artist DA Wallach has taken some early interest.  He's a really smart guy and can see the potential.  He wrote an excellent article regarding decentralized music metadata here: https://medium.com/backchannel/bitcoin-for-rockstars-ca8366802f9 I'll be talking to DA & some others again later today as I believe this is a good opportunity for Songcoin blockchain 2 technology.

With regard to the forum community and their support for Songcoin.  I can understand people would be wary of investing in something that seeks for it's developers to remain anonymous however I've always been very public with my identity a simple Google search will yield as much background information about the people associated with Songcoin development.  There also seems to be a prevailing belief that the developers somehow own the coin and this is not true.  Anyone could easily develop their own application to support Songcoin if they felt it worthy.  I thought that Pindrop was the first group to show some real interest in regard to this and I offered them a substantial bounty to assist with the future development.  If they were serious about Songcoin then this would've been a great opportunity.  Alas they've gone to sleep for the moment.

Further to this I've decided to put my personal savings behind an experimental Android streaming app that will integrate Songcoin, Bitcoin & Litecoin as a payment.  So for the past week I've been evaluating the associated development costs.  Will advise further as I progress.

After much internal debate and member sentiment via the forum I have pleasure in announcing that Songcoin will hard-fork over to Kimoto Gravity Wheel Algorithm at Block 73000. This decision is made in light of many comments made here regarding the existing difficulty re-targ which is considered to be unreasonable and detrimental to the future of the coin.  Also, the existing Algo. has exhibited recent unstable behavior recently and we are confident this change will improve the technical aspects of mining and confirmations etc.

We sure could use some help with hash power reaching the changeover point if it's possible for you.

There's nothing you can do as a developer to prevent major holders emotively dumping their coins on the market below the going rate.

Which is great for those with some long term belief as it creates good investment opportunities.

And there are still over 3m orders out for 289K currently on the exchange so demand is still there.

Oh right -- 3,000,000 of those buy orders are at 1 satoshi each.  Really big demand!

A coin that is backed by real investment will make sure it always has enough hash behind it - even if they have to buy it.

Time will tell.  Good deals for all - I suppose.

I've been hearing so much "talk" about this coin over the last 5 months -- and zero action -- glad I have a reason to cut my losses and get out.
