According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Who would be crazy enough to mine this coin now that it is stuck at an ultra high difficulty? This coin has serious issues.

This coin is misleading… They indicate everywhere that the difficulty retargets in 3.5 days.
This is not true. It retargets every 2016 blocks.

I believe this is something that cannot be changed unless they fork it.

Thanks, sorry for not commenting sooner as I was waiting to talk to another team member. Among other issues this is something we need to resolve asap. The original diff math seems to be challenged by other factors. Ongoing development required, until then we're living with some extended confirmation periods etc. I wouldn't say these are serious issues just requiring re-tweaks so we can focus on the external development plans. Which seem to be evolving all the time in response to various blockchain breakthroughs. At the risk of repeating myself I'd like to thank all for your continued patience. Hoping you all have a great Christmas. DP - Songcoin - Invest In Music

My suggestion for difficulty retarget change: Kimoto's Gravity Well implementation. Here is my suggestion: http://pastebin.com/HLtACEcjThis requires hardfork, just set the (not a far) height to XXXX for normal and testnet (is a songcoin testnet exists? )

My suggestion for difficulty retarget change: Kimoto's Gravity Well implementation. Here is my suggestion: http://pastebin.com/HLtACEcjThis requires hardfork, just set the (not a far) height to XXXX for normal and testnet (is a songcoin testnet exists? ) Thanks for the information, we've talked about the gravity wheel before, but then there were questions with regard to network vulnerability which required further consideration. I'll talk to the team again about it. Despite the high diff the network is still being mined around 250MH/s which is probably Okay at this stage. I agree if we could free the coin up from the mining perspective it would increase the interest and fairness. Regards - DP - Songcoin - Invest In Music

do you need to be a scammer to alow avatar upload?
No, you just need to purchase an account. Then another one to talk to. Then create a couple newbies. Then boom: you have yourself a whole thread of sockpuppets. It's impressive, really

Thanks SP, We won't be making any public announcements until we get some concrete plans from the myriad of ideas that we've got regards artist support from Songcoin. I think that rarely does a business venture such as this end up exactly where it was intended to be at the start. Also, we have to be mindful of capital costs, if the coins value appreciated to a point that we could fund additional development the we would most likely be experimenting more with some of the ideas we've got but it all takes time. At this stage, as you've rightly noted we need to get the difficulty sorted, the network strengthened etc. Before we start pursuing grander plans. Sorry to sound boring, better to be upfront than dishonest IMHO. Thanks - DP - Songcoin - Invest In Music

Currently there is 114 blocks/day (instead of 720).
