Just to make sure you got that right - there's no "wallet" in the traditional sense. All you need is your passphrase, you can access your account with it no matter which client/node you use.
When you use an online wallet the passphrase is not sent to the remote server, transaction signing is done in your browser.

I have a dozen other Crypto wallets on my mac and never had these problems before.
Remember you first day in crypto. To get the very first wallet running, was still a bit new, right?
After that probably all your following different cryptos were just clones of Bitcoin. All same same.

This one is a new start, a completely different approach.

I am still having problems.  I now get this:

2015-07-06 10:15:01 INFO: Started API server at 127.0.0.1:7776
2015-07-06 10:15:01 INFO: Started peer networking server at 0.0.0.0:7774
2015-07-06 10:15:01 INFO: Initialization took 35 seconds
2015-07-06 10:15:01 INFO: Nhz server NHZ V3.9.1 started successfully.

Is that normal?  Where is my actual wallet?   I am not technical so an idiot guide would be great.
yes, totally normal, looking good.
You now have wallet access through webpages on that local server on  127.0.0.1:7776

"Nhz server NHZ V3.9.1 started successfully." - That looks perfect.

"Started API server at 127.0.0.1:7776" - that is where this NHZ NRS is listening to your webbrowser requests.

You kept the "NHZ NRS" window open, right?!!!

The NRS is the "back end" of the system, it has to continue to run, for wallet access, or forging.

If you are sure that have no proxy settings in the way, then perhaps you have httpsanywhere in your browsers?
The browser can not go to https://127.0.0.1:7776 it has to go to http://127.0.0.1:7776

Oh well.  I don't know why its not compiling properly.
You do not actually have to compile anything.

Just start the NRS - and you have done that.
Your message above says that all is fine.

I know but for my purposes, I wanted the desktop or nothing.

By what I understand now,
all passphrase entering happens only locally in the browser anyway,
your passphrase does not leave your browser.

So local wallet, and webwallet do not differ that much as in other technologies.

But I still understand that you feel safer with your own desktop NRS.

What about giving the webwallet a try, first with a test address, then you know better what to expect.
And then you solve your local wallet issues. How does that sound?

...
From tomorrow on it will pay out 0.5% of the undistributed amount each day.
Clever choice. That will stretch it too infinity. And beyond :-)
Not really, we won't end up at a round 1B at the end because of fees and things we may have overlooked when calculating the distribution stuff.
Will do some calculations myself when I find the time.

But at least it will run out gradually, not suddenly at once.
That is the the clever choice I meant.

And when less new money is flushed into the system in the future,
there is a likelihood that less selling pressure alone could already
mean rising HZ/BTC prices (apart from all other positive influences).
And then it is still economic to run nodes even with lower node bounty in HZ.

Especially at rising BTC/USD prices - whew now 275 USD, cool.

With 0.00000097 BTC/HZ * today's nodebounty 351.43720408 HZ
--> 2.81 USD per month for running a hallmarked node right now.

The links have been in the old design of the explorer, but got lost with james's redesign
Easy to put 4 links again on the graph page.
Perhaps below the "...and selecting your desired format." ?

Perfect, that is exactly what I had hoped for. Very cool.

Will look into the numbers, perhaps in a few days.

Thanks!

Its working!  Thanks for all your help.  How long does it take to sync before I can progress further?

Also, to clarify, Whenever I want to access my wallet I have to start hz v3.9.1 right?

Wait for it connect and then log into 127.0.0.1:7776.  Correct?

Finally, the desktop wallet actually opens in a browser yes?

Happy.

You made it!

Now you can

Thanks for all your help.
You are welcome.

You'll watch the progress in BLOCKS, the height of the chain is 390189 now.

Also, to clarify, Whenever I want to access my wallet I have to start hz v3.9.1 right?
Wit for it connect and then log into 127.0.0.1:7776.  Correct?
Finally, the desktop wallet actually open in a browser yes?
All correct.

Perhaps a future NRS could display the message

Quote
2015-07-06 10:15:01 INFO: Nhz server NHZ V3.9.1 started successfully.
2015-07-06 10:15:01 INFO: Do not close this NRS while you forge or access the wallet.

That could help to avoid such pitfalls?

Consider to GIVEBACK. Thx

So blockchain is now synced. I tried to get 2 NHZ from the faucet but it said, "Error something went wrong on our end."

I tried again and now I have to wait 12 hours.  Not a good start.

Good news: I found my password.
Hi, I'm the node bounty developer.

When the detailed node message (with node IPs and amount per node) will be back?

This will take a few days as the local weather is just too hot to do any thinking. Smiley
I'll have it done this week, I promise.

Your  account is an unknown account, meaning it has never had an incoming or outgoing transaction (never used, no entry in the blockchain). Because it is (theoretically) possible, that two private keys (your passphrase) create the same hash (the account number), you must provide your public key (shown in the wallet).
Without the public key, no one can send you money.
Waiting for your public key.

It is possible to send to a unknown address, only bittrex enforces the pubkey broadcast for increased security.
