I had 40 different coins on mintpal and 50 on cryptsy Cheesy valued at that time at 7btc on mintpal and 3 on cryptsy, but i have only my username and my email that i used at that time.
Can i do something with that in order to recover my coins ?!

In the same boat. Had over 2000 xc coin which I bought for pennies, which is now dash coin which will be worth 300k. Didn't think anything of it until all the cryptocurrency hype going on. Would love to be able to recover these coins but all I have is email and password. Surely someone has all our info and data. Is all hope lost?? 😞
xc was a shitcoin scam, you're thinking of darkcoin which is now Dash

Angry I really don't understand why recovering coins from this asswipe is such an issue. I had 25 BTC on there, and someone has them....and I bet several people know exactly where they are....this wasn't some guy in his moms basement, and there are complete history records of everything that took place within that exchange...so he is in jail for 6 months, and when he gets out, he walks away with everyones coins? bullshit...

Exactly my thinking. With everyone's money worth so much more now, couldn't a legal team be assembled. If everyone would offer a percentage, I'm sure some lawyers would love to work on a case like this. Well, time to do some research.

I would be on board with this. There are a couple of Claims and government sites that I found but I'm not sure about their legitimacy and they seem to require a payment before anything is done.
https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09009856
https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome

I am kind of poor so I wouldn't be able to fork over any more money for this, but I'd be more than happy to include part of my stake of slightly more than 1 btc in this matter for helping out with costs. I miss my bitcoin Sad

Contact the liquidator who is liquidating Mintpal's assets and tell him you want to make a claim for your coins through him. The last I read the liquidator has not officially started accepting claims, but you can start a dialog with him. Whatever coins are left are now in the liquidator's hands.

You could try contacting the liquidator liquidating Mintpal's assets. It appears to be still ongoing, so you might have a chance to get something back.

I posted this in dogecoin subreddit today:

I contacted the Insolvency Service about MooPay's case and was told this:

If any one has claims, they can contact the liquidator liquidating MooPay's assets to pay creditors (people who lost coins would be creditors in the bankruptcy context): Graham Stuart Wolloff (of Elwell Watchorn & Saxton, LLP - 1 East Poultry Ave, London EC1A9PT, United Kingdom) and/or Liam Alexander (same law firm).

Also, I was told if there were any concerns about the conduct of MooPay LTD or its officers, Mr. Brian Penn of the Receiver's Office could also be contacted (Brian.Penn@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk).

Again, contact these people if you hope to receive anything from MooPay's assets. Contacting these folks would be IN ADDITION to contacting Action Fraud.

This is the latest liquidator's report dated 23 June 2016.

https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09009856/filing-history/MzE1MzA3NzYyNWFkaXF6a2N4/document?format=pdf&download=0

The bottom of page 3 says the Mintpal liquidator has not started accepting claims from the majority of people owed money yet.

Any new liquidator reports should be posted here.

With every day of stratospheric gains in Dash value, this old scar hurts me more and more.

I suppose I am officially on the creditors list as I have received several letters from the liquidator over past couple of years. None of these letters state anything helpful or hopeful.

I had described my loss in GBP terms at the time of the scam. Since then this number has gone up approximately 100-fold and I am not sure if I would get the FIAT amount I stated at the time or my actual coins. Really, it was my Darkcoins that got stolen so I would hope to get darkcoins (Dash) back.

The reality is that there are no assets or FIAT funds in Moolah accounts, so I really don't expect anything. Where are the Darkcoins?? That's the question - who holds them, have they been sold already?

Since this old scam is hurting so much now (not just for me but especially for those who lost much more coins), I  would be willing to organize with others and be more proactive in whatever futile attempts at recovery there might me.

That's interesting. But how to proceed if you don't remember the exact number of the coins you had on Mintpal? I had hundreds of thousands of EMC2 for example, but not sure about the exact amount.

I assume you just fill out the form and let the liquidator know you are estimating the number of coins you had on mintpal. It would help if you can supply copies of emails about withdrawals and deposits from relevant exchanges, and transactions from wallets.

You have nothing to lose from trying, and there will be others with the same problem.

He's currently being tried in court for fraud and money laundering. He's accused of stealing one million pounds worth of Bitcoins and spending the money on a luxury lifestyle. The police have been investigating the case for the last three years.

http://www.coindesk.com/former-dogecoin-exchange-ceo-faces-fraud-charges-uk/

Quote
UK police have brought fraud and money laundering charges against Ryan Kennedy, the founder the now-defunct dogecoin exchange service Moolah.

Kennedy, who created Moolah under the name Alex Green, appeared in court today, according to a statement from the Avon and Somerset Constabulary. Though the exact charges weren't identified, police said the associated crimes took place during 2014.

The new charges, quietly announced on 29th June, follow a three-year investigation investigation by authorities in the UK, coming more than two years after he was initially arrested (and later released) by police.

Local authorities said in a statement:

"[Kennedy] has been charged with a number of offences under the Fraud Act 2006 and Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. It is alleged the offences were committed between January – December in 2014. This included the theft of bitcoins to a value in excess of £1 million, that were then spent on a luxury lifestyle."

It was through Moolah, an early platform for buying and selling the meme-themed cryptocurrency, that Kennedy gained notoriety by sponsoring a NASCAR driver and later soliciting investments from community members through the distribution of a token.

Kennedy later purchased the digital currency exchange MintPal, which collapsed in late 2014 following a site relaunch and growing allegations of fraud that were levied against Kennedy. It was at that time that he first acknowledged that Alex Green wasn’t his real name.

He was ultimately taken to court by a group of developers who had launched their cryptocurrency through MintPal and accused him of stealing thousands of dollars in committed funds.

Kennedy is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence after being convicted last year on rape charges in the UK. He was arrested in relation to those crimes in early 2016, according to reports at the time.

Wait, you can get 1 million dollars for 6 months of prison work, food and housing?
Crime REALLY DOES PAY OFF!

How many of you would accept 100k dollars for 1 month of prison work (or leisure)?!?!?!

This world is rotten. Wink

"Defending Kennedy, Dominic Thomas claimed the accused 'misunderstood what was meant by consent'."
Wait, isn't Dominic Thomas one of the known scammers here on bitcointalk?

Can someone have a look into that?

The email is j.saxton@ewsllp.co.uk .. I told them I don't know the specific amount, but I still have the empty wallet.dat file that I used to send BTC to mintpal, so I added all that up and used that number ... then sent them the links to the transactions in the block explorer
