the most precious of all this is the miner itself ... the software that drives all this ...
i want to be able to help with 'incentive' to continue development and financial gain to grow - as would most of us here that use the fruits of your ( and other devs ) labor ...
help us help you by giving us more ideas to bring this about ... i need ideas not just from my self - but also from the community and from the devs themselves that can benefit greatly from successful ideas to incentivize the development of opensource to the level that it can not be outperformed very easily ...
Maybe a subscription service, pay a monthly fee to get newest miners. Or a less desirable but possibly more effective route would be closed source miners that donate a percentage of hashes like the claymore AMD miner for cryptonote algo. I only say less desirable because I like open source. Or just set a price for each new version. I think people are willing to pay but when it's voluntary it's easy to forget or procrastinate or just be greedy.
I don't post much but have donated to the ccminer devs and will continue to, without you guys we couldn't mine  Grin

I can include a 1% fee, and keep it opensource. I just need to refork tvpruvot's work, and add my modded kernals. The 1.6.6 version supports mining to multiple pools.
Then I just need to optimize every algo a few percent, and everybody would use my optimized kernals...

ok - so you are going with the included percentage fee for use with the spmod miner? ...

opensource is still the way to go - so thats a good thing ...

will this also mean that the 'inhouse / private' optimizations will come out for the general public with the 1% mining? ... or will you still have the private optimizations as being something that would still be up for sale? ...

also - when you say multipool support - does that mean autoswitching algos? ...

And someone could easily fork your work, modify the hardcoded pools and lower the fee. Or remove it altogether.

True. So this might not be an option. People have tried this before.

1. Claymore's/djm34 approach. Closed source/fast kernals. (Not an option for me since I use gpl code and don't want to rewrite everything.)
2. Girinos approach. Forced donation  (opensource) People will remove the donation code, refork and make it free.
3. Miner control's approach. (donation with a switch) Everybody is turning off the donation switch.
4. SP's approach. code for beer. Will work as long as the beer's keep comming Smiley But the biggest gains are not open sourced, mostly the easy pickings.
5. Private farm with private kernals.. Much profit, much Risk.
6. Wolf0's approach (Selling binaries) Works until someone publish the work for free

I am doing a mix of 4 and 5..

You can test release 61+ here:

http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/download/ccminer-1.5.61-git-spmod.zip

lyra2v2 is doing almost 15MHASH on the 980ti.

The lyra2v2 kernal is unchanged.

Optimalizations in Blake-256, bmw-256, keccak-256 and skein-256

leave the open source as is ... like pallas said - the opensource is just that and all devs can contribute and improve the code ...

the private miner that you have would be at least 25% ahead of the opensource one - so mine with it and accept donations as is for the opensource project ...

i cant see why the model that is NOW will not function in the future when EVERYTHING is opensourced ... community members who mine have been donating for a long time - its just not a great deal all at once ... its trickles from each individual miner / donor ...

so why not amalgamate all of the donations into one and cut the share of those donations ... if EVERYONE had those private miners - would ALL the devs receive donations? ... if the current state of donations are anything to go by - probably not ...

so how are we to donate more - and entice the miners that are using all these miners for free - to donate also? ...

i have a couple of ideas - but have yet to formulate HOW to do it ... so i need to think some more about it ...

i have the donation links up - and will update the op of the donation thread tomorrow - so people can mine to donate for the dev of their choice as well as donate directly if they like ... though the donation links ARE anonymous and amalgamated ... so if 7 miners mine for sp at the same time - it will show as ONE miner on nicehash with xxx hashrate ...

the current working donation links to date are sp - djm34 - wolf0 - pallas - klaust - tpruvot and crysx ( me ) in case anyone wants to donate to help with the costs of all the servers and maintenance / updates which for the moment is out of my own pocket ...

the other way involves the multipool i want to setup and will involve a certain process of things for that to happen - but i have yet to find anyone that has the time and is willing to build the multipool ... yet ... i can keep my fingers crossed Smiley ...

one dev has said he will look at it later when he has the time ... and im hoping that will happen - but i understand if it doesnt ...

thefarm will have a bit to do with the donation links also - and i have a plan to utilize thefarm in some way as well ... unfortunately - that too is waiting on the HOW it will be implemented ... ill figure that one out soon ...

you talk about profit sp - does this still mean the fiat conversion from coins? ... or profit as in conversion to btc? ...

i dont look at anything in crypto as 'profit' on the fiat level - ever ... that is a completely different world from that with which im doing with the farm and crypto - so i get a little confused when people start talking about 'profits' and being 'profitable' ...

cant wait to get back into the office tomorrow ... i have a LOT of work to do ...

If it keeps you happy and interested. 2% is still fine dude. 1% SP, 1% split between other contributors... I think people might even do 3%, but higher then that and people will start getting rowdy.

Make sure you note it at the beginning and when it's mining shares for you though so people can easily see what's happening.

If you really want to push this you can add a bit of your meaty private kernel to it to beef it up and make people want to swap (if they're hashing more then 2% faster it's essentially a wash).

I buy private Nvidia miners. Send information and/or inquiries to my PM box.

I think best way to keep it private, and maybe sell to just trustable persons or keep it just for yourself Smiley)) With donations, Someone do , others don't(most of them) .I'm ready to support this project any options. If you want to continoue like this i'll continoıue donations. If you wanna sell ,i'm ready to buy Smiley))  Grin.Without improved kernels it's not common issue to earn some bucks..

My private quark kernal is 16% faster than the opensource, and I am currently expanding my farm.

Cryptonight is not included in this fork. But if you donate 0.2 BTC I can send you my modded kernal. It does 450 - 500 HASH on a gtx 970.

LYRA2v2 HASH--

SP_ is continually asking the thread followers to post their hashing results on popular algos.  You can find a lot of really good info if you look through the thread, as well as many fine opinions about the price of coins and mining in general.

The 750ti can mine Lyra2v2 at about  4+ Mh/s, depending on clock speeds, model variety, and OS.  I get 4.5Mh/s on my GTX 750ti FTW cards, mining in Ubuntu 14.04.       --scryptr

Hiya SP - just checking in to see if there are going to be anymore new optimizations to the spreadcoin miner?  Is another donation needed?
I think I can squeze a few percent out of it. It's been a while since I looked at it. Donations are welcome, they motivate me. Smiley
