31 hours, no errors, continue testing, made some adjustment to firmware, and porting antminer s5 interface to it, stay tuned Cheesy

You are running it at max freq/voltage, that's very brave of you, especially with the factory power brick.

You should do the widescreen display in cgminer, [D] then , to show the HW error field.

It shows HW errors on the screenshot. 104 in almost two days.   Which is a very very small amount of accepted.

So it's looking like Smit did a amazing job on writing this pretty impressive.

Good enough, that I'm thinking of trying it on 2 U3's, but that would mean buying a TPLink and not sure I want to spend any money on/for U3's.

I touched a power brick and U3 start beeeping Shocked And goes to zombie, so i assume after 58 hours test failed. Looks like psu failure, now it much cooler then before, hmmm maybe i think i must solder pci-e connector.

There is a  rumor that they work better off of a pcie to u3 adapter.  I had never tried it but always wondered if it was true.

Maybe it really is.   58 Hours was still pretty dang good.

There is something odd with u3, if i unplug psu, it continues beeping, untill i reconnect usb.
So next phase of testing - nicehash, after that i will  solder pci-e connector and power it directly from psu.

I haven't seen them run better powering from pcie (no improvement in hash rate or any fewer zombies), they still zombie when they feel like it and for no reason at all.

Only real advantage I do see using pcie so far, it's less of a fire hazard from not using the cheap bricks.

Dang I know some have had it helped possibly in thread if you go through it (it's kinda long at this point).  But I think you are right it was not proven.

That is why I refered to it as rumor.  But going from cheap brick to PSU I think would be a good move,  if it prevents zombie someone really would need to do some tests which I don't think anyone has done.

That's another problem with the U3, what works for 1 person will not work for another, even if it's the same setup.

The more I play with the U3's, the more I'm thinking that the chips didn't pass a QC check of some kind to be put in the (at the time) "newest, greatest miner" the S3 and they came up with the ideal to put "seconds" (not up to par chips) in the U3's, kind of like cloths manufacturers selling shirts with one sleeve longer than the other to "bargain stores" to recoup some money, instead of eating the cost of the "not up to par" chips.

One of the biggest things is V1 or V2. They are very very different on design.   From all I read the nice looking top is like a death trap.

I have V2's which it's kinda like a guard to keep hand from touching parts and leaves it pretty dang open.

Did you try to run BFG as the administrator?

Also, I don't use BFG or windows for mining, so not sure if you need zadig with BFG and windows or not.

That's not good ....(apart from the zombie)... look at the HW errors...

Currently running cgminer with --au3-freq 250 --au3-volt 800 --icarus-options 115200:1
But I get the same amount/% of errors with no options.

2 out of 3 running slightly below the requested freqs and having a lot of errors.
1 is fine for freq and errors (AU31 on the capture)

all 3 are sitting on a homemade shelf, with a dedicated 80mm fan per U3

Here's the deal, I have 3 of these units running and they will roll to another comm port for no reason.  I've tried different power supplies different quality USB cables and I've had units run for over a week without rolling to another port or going zombie, then I've had cases where the same setup goes zombie in less than 2 hours without even rolling from AU3 0 to AU3 1.  The best luck I've had was running the units solo with the old version of CG Miner that Bitmain has for download on their site, but I have issues trying to get a second unit to run.

And that is U3 ownership in a nutshell.

No rhyme, no reason, and lots of problems.

I still have one, I run it from time to time, and then it makes me mad again and I remember why I turned it off the last time.

Hi all, im starting with this of the mining bitcoins and im reading a lot of information.. Im from AR and is not easy to get this hardware here.. but i will try to buy one or two to test it..
How many bitcoins you can earn with this U3..  Bitcoins/week?

Someone of you recommend any other hardware to start with it?
The cost/benefits is OK or do you prefeer other?

My personal budget is near 200 USD Sad

Thanks a lot to all for answer  Wink

At best: 0.000556TBC/day as per http://bitcoineval.com/hardware.php

Mining BTC is a long term thing, don't expect fast cash

0,15USD/day = 326 days approx to make 49USD, the cost (??) of a U3.
Not counting the electricity you'll spend to run it.

==========
My 3 U3 run better with bitcoin utopia than with Minera Sad

Nearly 0 zombie, very little HW errors, stable at 63Ghs.

I posted earlier about my results with Minera and they're not as good.
If I run them directly on Windows with cgminer it's a lot better, but it looks like either they don't like my raspberry or minera...

There is something odd with u3, if i unplug psu, it continues beeping, untill i reconnect usb.
I also experience this quite often, not everyday though. I really wonder where that beeping or squeaking noise comes from. It seems like something is trying to pull the current much more than what the USB port can give. Before I disassemble or do something bad on one of my Antminer U3' trying to figure this out, which will very likely just become another electronic junk, did anybody investigate this mystery?

I never had the beeping, although I power them off/on twice a day for 15mn.
I have the model with the wire cage, not the dome.
