Here's a thought.  Somebody with bitcoin to sell figured out how to mess with feed data.  Put up big wall, people place bids ahead of wall, sell into bids.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

sure?
If it were that easy... the thing is it could be lower than 11.35 in 9 weeks... and that kind of thing is what drives the markets.

Hmm I think that is far less likely than:

1. Someone purposely manipulating the markets
or
2. Someone earnestly trying to enter with a large sum at the lowest price possible

Its not #2.

To my memory, whenever we've seen a wall put up then removed, unless the market moves drastically after removal, it goes back up.

An impatient market maker trying to get it moving, I think.

Yep, seems to be the case. Good for the price I suppose, bad for the bots.

48 hours overall. 1 shot every 2 mins means about 1 hour per second so yeah it's fast but you can pause and step through it. Also the uptime, gives you a clock of sorts.

Yep... can't see from one frame to the next: was the sell order and the removal of the wall simultaneous?

I agree that it does look like a risky attempt to influence people into buying at higher prices. That enormous bid order just doesn't seem like something a millionaire would do without some sort of reason.

Does seem odd they would move it so fast. It was not there long enough to build much more volume onto the bids in front of it. Whoever sold down as the wall was pulled had maybe an extra $1500 of new orders placed above $11.00 to sell into. It would seem an awfully risky move to only make a few bucks on.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

Cool.  So sell at $11.3x, buy under $11.  Repeat.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

No.  There is no millionaire with Almost $2m in MtGox.  It's a glitch.
