I wonder how many of these bears are selling what they bought at 185$+ today.

Virtex is at $200, Bitstamp hit $198 earlier. Starting to be annoyed at Gox being so far behind all the time because of the manipulation...

It's a good thing. Hopefully more people will get annoyed, like you, and move to other exchanges. It will be a lot harder to manipulate things when the exchange is distributed.

Unfortunately one exchange will always have to be "The Bitcoin Price", and the manipulators will always go there. Although I guess Gox's lag problem is making it an even easier target...

Thats not true, I think people will go where they appreciate the service, the fees are right, the interface is good to use, and most importantly- Fiat is easy to get in and out.

Exactly what is important is the balanced volume. Once mtgox goes under 50% they wouldn't be the dominant measure anymore.

I know they are shady as fuck, but I can't see any difference to other exchanges either.  When it comes to incompetence gox is on par, they are just bigger.

I don't think GOX are incompetent, just overloaded like crazy.

How would you handle it if you got 15k more customers overnight? You don't have time to upgrade, you don't have time to train staff.

I would start with fixing my trading engine.
They are totally incompetent.

Gox makes me want to open an actual exchange, too bad I'm not pro at web programming. Could write that fucker in C++, just need some pro security expert to make sure everything is battened down.

Hire somebody? They are making how much a day? 5 figures?
e: validating can be done with like a week of training.

Then the trading engine is another issue. Even if there are a bunch of 0.01BTC that shouldn't impact a modern server. The only explanation is shitty programming.

They had time to setup for the 10k extra customers they expected but 25k turned up. This thing exploded faster than GOX could have predicted.

I'm no GOX fan. I'd like to see a legitimate(!) bank or forex trading site start a BitCoin exchange. At least you know those people have some experience with financial systems.

So, after a highly obnoxious and unnecessary delay it looks like we are back to where we were this morning.  About 12k BTC until 200.
