UPS dropped off my S5 about 2 hrs ago. I've had running for about 1.45 hrs. Seems fine and avg hash is: 1.16 THS. A bit noisier than the S3s tho...as the fan has to run faster. I installed the miner monitor which Bitmain mentioned above. Nice tool Smiley

Just got my Batch 4 S5's. Bitmain is now shipping using foam rather than the inflated tubes/bags. First thing I did was install the Nocturna fan mentioned earlier in this thread. Best money ever spent! Completely tolerable now. After 70 minutes, running 61deg on both sides and 1.125Gh.

Hey Satoshi!

Sure!

The unit is defaulted to DHCP, so please make sure the router side can assign your S5 an IP address.  Then you are good to go!

Got my S5 hooked up, super easy. Nice foam packaging. First time mining since my GPU burnt up in 2011.

Average hash of 1153 with temps of 46/48. Hope this is a good start to a new farm. Hell with the price of BTC, this is a great hobby for me!

I can't find this in North America and I have no idea how to tell if it is defaulted to DHCP. I found this one...will it work?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AOEA7A (there are 4 different types on that link - doesn't matter which one as long as one works.

That is a simple switch, and has no need for DHCP; it will be enable communication between the S5 and your network's DHCP server.

easier choice is to grab one at either amazon or microcenter (if you are near one)
Prices are the same-$20 or $25
microcenter:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/361816/5_Port_Gigabit_Desktop_Switch
amazon
http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SG1005D-1000Mbps-Gigabit-Capacity/dp/B000N99BBC/
but i suggest to grab 8-port one (if you will expand)
amazon

microcenter
http://www.microcenter.com/product/361817/TL-SG1008D_8_Port_10-100-1000_Gigabit_Desktop_Switch

you connect the switch to a router, then connect miner to a switch via ethernet cord

OK. Thanks. Ordered the 8-port

One last question and I will leave you guys alone.

Can I split a line where my Cat 5 come out of the wall with one of these?

http://www.amazon.ca/Acctown-Ethernet-Splitter-Connector-Adapter/dp/B00KKYOZUM

I want to set one up right by my PC for testing purposes and it only has one wall socket.

...and another one 1/2 dies on me. This is getting tiresome, I could have just got some S3s if I wanted 500 speed.

Reboot, change frequency, hard reboot, new PSU... same thing. That's two now  Angry

What PSU were you on, and what now?

EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 220-G2-0850-XR 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD
Same issue as alienesb, has happened once after updating Firmware, numerous times before.  Seems to fix itself without a restart after many hours.  Trying to look into what may be causing it but have found nothing on my side so far.
Currently both of my S5's are sustaining 1100+GH default settings after a power cycle, so will wait for it to happen again and see if I can find anything in the logs.

Datacenter Technician and Electrician.  If you have any questions feel free to ask me as I am generally bored looking at logs and happy to help during free time.

typically you have cable going to the cable box and not the cat5 ethernet, then you have cable box connected via ethernet cable to the WAN port on the router, but router typically have more than one LAN port. Your PC could be connected to one LAN port and miner (or switch) could be connected to another LAN port. Not sure re splitter.

let us know what we can do
What can be the problem?Overheat?PSU?
A have a coolermaster V700.
So i'm thinking about the pool, but seems fine.

Well, if it's beeping, it's getting power...

You might have a bad Ethernet cable or connector.
When it does run, you should be able to see the temps on the interface. anything under 60 Celsius is good.

Until miner link comes online, is there something else we can use to control multiple miners with a single interface? Things like auto restart times, pool switching... etc.

Try M's Miner Monitor.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596178.0

I can see all my Ants and you can set up alerts and auto-reboot by hash rate, time, etc.

Though my auto-reboot setting for low hash rate only works intermittently...

But I can monitor all my miners on the other side of the house with my laptop in the living room. On the Miner Output tab you can right-click and reboot the selected miner manually if need be.
