Open a tournament lobby, click on the "info" tab, scroll down and you'll see "minimum players". That's the min that needs to be registered in that tournament for it to start. It used to be 2 across the board but a couple of players grimmed the site by reg'ing tournaments and agreeing to chop and shoving first hand so that nobody else had an opportunity to register. So now it's 4 for most tournaments.

We need to have more player volume to get the SIT n GO's going. It would be great to be able to play some 9 player knockouts

Yeah, the yellow "trying" in the bottom left corner means you aren't able to connect to the server. The server does crash occasionally but if that's what you see constantly, the problem is on your end. Make sure you have the most recent version downloaded by fully uninstall/deleting SWC from your computer and start with a fresh download from swcpoker.eu (the most current version looks like it's 1.0.0.24...you can check by clicking "help" and then "About SWC Poker Client). If it still won't run, I'd suggest turning off all firewalls which you say you've already done but make sure you don't have like the windows stock firewall still running or something like that. Also make sure you're running everything as admin.

I only had this problem on one of my computers, but it was bugging the hell out of me. Here is what worked. Flush the DNS cachehttp://www.techzilo.com/flush-windows-xp-vista-dns-cache/Basically, from the command prompt: ipconfig /flushdnsThen I restarted SwC. The status quickly changed from Offline to Trying to Online

As far as I know, ranlo is also a player at seals. I've never seen him discuss betcoin on this thread (which, on the other hand, is somthing you seem to be doing). Just sayin', people can put whatever avatar they want, that doesn't mean that they can't post in some thread or another as long as they're on-topic. As far as I know, there's nothing preventing people from playing at both sites happily (well, except that windoze-only thing of swc, but other than that ...).
I've been playing at betcoin.ag more than SWC recently because they offer an in-browser game, but their customer support is probably the worse of any site I have ever experienced, and their in-browser game is really buggy too. So today I tried Seals again. Fired up my old Windows virtual machine, logged in, and tried to sit at a 0.5/1 no limit hold'em table: Is that a bug? Why can I only buy in for 5 big blinds? The average pot size on the table is over 10 chips, so I guess that has to be an error. I've not played for months, so it isn't some kind of rathole protection.

Ha! Thanks for that. It's written in the table's name... Happen to know of any sites that allow free play (fake chips I guess) on OFC?
http://gambit.com/ has play-money OFC. Edit: Am I reading this right? Is that telling me that the highest number of players at any hold'em ring game is 1? And if so, how do some of the tables have a hands-per-hour number of over 100?

Maybe thats how many hands have been played over the the last hour and/or the stat isn't updated as frequently when there are no hands being played. If two players are averaging 200 hands/hour for two hours, when one of them leaves what should the hands/hour be 5 or 20 minutes later? Maybe 0, I don't know.

Edit: Am I reading this right? Is that telling me that the highest number of players at any hold'em ring game is 1? And if so, how do some of the tables have a hands-per-hour number of over 100? You're in the "holdem" tab, so you are only seeing hold em ring games. At the time you were looking, every table only had 0 or 1 players at it (which is common on SWC, nlhe and lhe aren't very popular and primarily exist for bumhunters to lobby and hope a fish sits). The hands per hour and average pot columns are estimates calculated over the last X games. So if I start a table and you sit and play 5 hands in a minute and then leave, the lobby is going to say that the table is playing 300 hands/hr even though there is currently only one person sitting. Anyway, to see the tables currently in action, click the "active" tab on the far right.

I see there is a Fishmas Fry Festivus Freeroll scheduled for players who have earned at least 25 krill. I like that concept, and I hope that they continue to develop it further.
There is an optimum distribution of freerolls, including some that are open to anyone, some to anyone with at least 1 krill, some to anyone with at least 5 krill, some to anyone with at least 25 krill, etc. that will help the site re-establish a healthy distribution of players.
And the overkrill tournaments are part of that mix.
I see some evidence of creative thinking at SwC.

I think the problem is not "creative thinking" or not. Seals always had tons of players back when they actually had working clients. It's now been a year, and still no clients. This is the problem. You can make all the "fish fries" you want to, as long as people can't login or play, it doesn't matter how many gimmicks.

I agree that they need to release Android and other client software. They are unlikely to reach their previous Seals levels without it.
