Just make sure your wallet is synched and unlocked.  If your wallet is in that state it will stake when it is time.

Jump on IRC and use the !est <MH/s> command, won't be fully accurate since the total hash is fluctuating heavily. You could check the stats on an existing pool like suprnova and check how much people are mining on avg.

It should stake if nothing is blocking it, but if you have a larger amount of coins that were credited at once to the wallet it can take a longer time since it will try to stake at once.

Some may have, but not sure if they operate with a full/partial blockchain and act as nodes thus strengthening the network while also being full energy efficient.

LXC was one I remember that had a staking wallet (it ended as a scam?) and SDC had ShadowGo (not sure if it's released).

  Try "2+6" instead of "1+8" (whirlpoolx-wolf.cl //worksize=256, for sgminer 5.1.1 rename __kernel, R9 270x)

Gives me HW-s after sometime on -w 256 but the hash is 180 MH/s.
