What is the block time? And can it be mined by scrypt asic?

Variable block time targeting 80-200 seconds. You can't make use of your scrypt asics as this uses a modified Whilrpool algo.

FPGA development is ongoing, some boards with spartan 6 chips on them will be able to mine Vanillacoin with good power to hash efficiency.

Where to buy FPGA asic?

FPGA's aren't ASIC's.

FPGA's are pretty pricey / rare as rocking horse shit to pick up cheaply it seems.  You can buy Quad Xilinx Spartan 6 LX150 boards (1.15x) new from ZTEX.de directly.  I paid about £300 for one about a year ago.  I've also picked up a few Enterpoint Cairnsmore CM1 Quad LX150 second hand as and when they come up on eBay for anything from £60-£200 each depending on your location (and shipping cost).  I haven't been able to find them in quantity anywhere but there must be 100's out there in the wild gathering dust.

I believe we are still waiting on compiled Bitstreams and performance stats for WhirlpoolX hashing with these boards though so any purchase is speculative at this stage.

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

Anyone have good settings for mining this? I have a couple of AMD 280X video cards I would like to put to good use but I am having trouble getting it to work using the miners in the first page.

Thanks

You need to post some more information: what kind of problem, what error message, etc.

Ok, I am trying to run the wolf-sgminer-whirlpoolx-03222015-win64 linked in the thread, and I enter my information to connect to supernova.
Code:

@echo off
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

sgminer.exe  --algorithm whirlcoin -o stratum+tcp://vnl.suprnova.cc:1111 -u xxx.1 -p xxx --xintensity 4096 -g 2 -w 128 --gpu-engine 1200 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-fan 85

It seems to start but after awhile it says I must have entered the url or username incorrectly. I have verified both settings several times. Note that xxx is not my username or password, I blocked it out for this post.

The algorithm is "whirlpoolx", not " whirlcoin".
Also you can lower the memclock to save power.

We're currently in the top 20 in terms of total 24h volume of all coins on coinmarketcap  (This list includes Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripple, etc.)

It always could - it was just a matter of someone making it.

How about the KNC's  litecoin miner? So it is also working on scrypt asic?

Glad I got in when you could get a few thousand a day from mining easily

YOU CAN NOT USE A SCRYPT ASIC

This is WhirlpoolX not Scrypt and as such there isn't an ASIC around yet, there is however development work being done on FPGA's

Litecoin miners have memory - unnecessary for WhirlpoolX, really. You could use it, but you'd be better off with a cheaper board.

How is the efficiency? comparing Gpu, fpga. If I have 200$ to buy hardware, which one is better to have.

Thanks, When is fpga software come out? And how is effectively compared with GPU?

tweet @coinwarz and fill out this form: http://www.coinwarz.com/contact asking them to add Vanillacoin VNL.

This is the meesage I got back from Coinwarz

Hello Macca,

We don't currently have support for the Whirlpool mining algo. Can you provide some hash rates for an AMD Radeon R9 290 or geforce gtx 750 ti?

Regards,

Tim
CoinWarz.com

- I assume therefore that they would list if they had some facts about Whirlpool

Perhaps someone on the management team would like to take this further?

Currently, I think R9 290 is ~475 MH/s.  What are people getting with smolen's miner?

Not sure on the GTX 750ti.  Anyone have one?
