I thought it was bad for bitcoin but now I use the Xapo faucets. They are fast and you don't have to wait until you gather a particular amount to withdraw it is done on the fly straight to your address.
Try the Enzo faucet and you will see. It's good for some extra bits every hour.

The parasite hates three things: free markets, free will, and free men.

Fausets are useful for beginners. This allows them to enter the ropes and acquire useful skills with bitcoin even in small quantities.

yes i think so.
many people who do faucets spent every day at the computer just to get dime. and I think it is very harmful and a waste of time
the results of faucets are also not comparable with the signature campaign result

Using your logic, it isn't worth it to pick up a dollar on the ground because I have a job.  That is rather silly thinking it doesn't hurt me to bend over and pick that dollar up.

Faucets are great for Bitcoin and I hope they continue to make more.

Picking up a dollar is very different from spending several hours to make a dollar. Getting half a dollar on faucets may take you up to 8-9 hrs. as far as my experience on it goes. With that amount of time, you could have probably worked irl rather than spending it on rotators and faucets.

Real-life work is the most profitable? Who would have guessed? ... ...

More, if compared to surfing through faucets but not the most. You can work irl and allocate some of your salary to but bitcoin but faucets? Good for familiarizing yourself in bitcoins but not doing it for substantial gains.

Is there any reason why faucets are bad for bitcoin? I couldnt think of any. Its just promoting of bitcoin, its good for people who have first touch with bitcoin, like i was is that situation couple months before. U are trying something new with some low amounts, but if u have some skills in some gambling games u can double it, triple it.. Good for starters, and good to have something on a side that make u some small amounts for something. For couple months u can have something with one or two clicks per day.

Faucets are a an absolute waste of time and effort.

I have no idea why people waste time and effort on trying to acquire fractions of cents while being bombarded by ads and making the faucet owners richer. Bitcoin doesn't need faucets at this points. It needs more public jobs for untalented bitcoiners for ways to get fractions of BTC for honest work or help them acquire marketable skills such as web development  or graphics design.

The internet and Bitcoin were made for people to trade things. Yet all I seem to see on these forums are beggars, scamtards and people looking for handouts. I know personally that it is possible to make BTC simply by going out and working for them.

We should encourage new users to NOT use faucets, and to direct them into designing new services and products which can be purchased via BTC.

faucets are a way to get free money even if they give only a cent or less but it still free. so i think every newbie when s/he hear about bitcoin he will try to get some of it and faucets are his only free way. and about your hope that faucets will disappear, this will happened when google adsense stop paying for these sites

Wait, so you're saying Bitcoin, a currency (money) is like money? I'm flabbergasted at that claim. There's no way money is money and is earned in the same ways!

The same as people that will do an hour of work for a few dollars or volunteer for free, really. Different people value their time differently. I hate when people make blanket statements about how they think OTHERS should feel when we're all different. Some like faucets, some don't. It's asinine for people to claim that they magically know what's best for everyone else.
I think to work to get a few dollars in several hours is different than doing faucets dude.
to be honest everyone has the passion, if their passion is doing faucets or volunteer for free as you say. I may be wrong to say they are a waste of time

To me, working for $8.50 an hour at McDonald's is a waste of time. But I don't fault people who do it. People have their reasons.

I disagree..
Couple years ago they were instrumental .. no tantamount
to me getting a bit of coin going to start trading.

if you want to get people involved we need to have a free gateway
that does not require handing over your ID or taking money out of a bank account (to buy BTC with Fiat)

I get what you're saying OP but i think the benefits out weighs the possible negatives.

And if you are claiming this was done as a promotional consideration to push adoption ?
Then i say we have a long ways to go yet still when it comes to world-wide adoption with common people.
As a matter of fact we need more promotion and marketing etc.. not less.

When BTC started, nobody had any and it was worthless, so it was right to give away thousands of BTC to make it popular. All that has changed. Now that BTC's worth something, now that companies are building on BTC, now that serious business transactions are made with bitcoin, it's about time for faucets to adapt.

BTC is real. It's money, and you've got to work to earn some. I hope all faucets will disappear in 2015. Faucets are hurting bitcoin by making some people believing you can get it while doing nothing sitting in your home. No, BTC isn't like that, and it shouldn't be any easier to get than any fiat currency. Even for small amounts.

i think faucet gives the idea of btc for new comers, sure btc is hard to earn, but having a little of
it given to you by faucets gives some motivation to earn btc. so for me faucet isnt that bad for btc
for some they may think btc is easy to earn but for me it is a motivation starter.

Faucets are now a revenue generator for faucet owners, rather than 'giving away' bitcoins for people to experiment with.  All of them have Adsense on them, and I think Google will probably crack down on that because lots of them promote forced or fraudulent clicks.  But hey, no hate - hope they get their money while the getting is good.  If you have a favorite faucet, this subreddit lets you post your referral links: https://www.reddit.com/r/GetFreeBitcoins/

i think you are right, making people think bitcoin is a get rich quick thing is not a good idea. remove faucets.

If you don't like those forget those. No one forces you to earn from those or to contact in some way those. Faucet don't make anyone to think that using those can be rich: and for more fast. Only people like you that want to eliminate those with stupid reasons can think in this way. With the amounts given by faucets needed tens and hundreds of years to be rich. Staying all the day clicking and clicking without interruption.

If we live an a free country everyone can do everything he/she want except harm the others and touch the freedom of the others. the faucet don't such things so the owners of those have all the right to do what they want. I'm curious what would do you if someone give money gratis? Have to many and want to make several people happy donating some of its money. You will refuse those? If yes, sorry to tel, but I haven't hear in my life person more stupid than you. I don't. I will accept those with pleasure. It is enough that must be not dirty money. And the owner be a respectable person.

i dont think so,its too quickly to judge that faucet are bad for bitcoin for now,i think faucet just losing their popularity and user. many bitcoin user or seeker, leave faucet..this is probably som of reason why faucet is leaved :
- bitcoin price going up,faucet just give a little free bitcoin.
- bitcoin seeker need more bitcoin, and they found other way to earn it.
- many faucet close their website for many reason.

Statements like this are ridiculous. It's like saying "all seafood restaurants should close, because I know a couple people that dislike seafood, so obviously these restaurants will never succeed."

The faucet market is so overpopulated at the moment, it won't be long until there is a bust. By bust I mean google adsense will most likely look into the traffic and will start to block faucets. At least that's my opinion. If not I hope they make millions with this business. ha.
