Two really good faucets are MoonBitcoin and Bitcoinker. I don't mess with most of the other ones, but those two can add up fairly quickly to enough BTC to buy your favorite cheap altcoin that you think will go to the moon in the future Smiley

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

That's true, I used started out by using faucets. It's great way to start with Bitcoin and learning more about it along the way.

I started out with faucets too, everyone did.

It was a big waste of time, but alteast I learned how to use bitcoin, and how to not waste time on useless work.

I dont see why it should be banned, it is still good for entertainment if you like to waste your time.

Everyone did? I didn't nor did anyone I know who got into bitcoin. Most people are smart enough to know that even faucets are a waste of time or they soon realize it, though I'm not disputing they don't get people involved with bitcoin or get them their first coins which is still a good thing.

I knew that they would not pay me out, but I tried by promoting my referral links.

It worked for a while but its still minuscule profits, althought I have seen guys that make 0.05/day from affiliates on autopilot.

Of course we dont know how much they spent on advertising, so they could be in minus. But its doable if you have money and patience to invest.

When BTC started, nobody had any and it was worthless, so it was right to give away thousands of BTC to make it popular. All that has changed. Now that BTC's worth something, now that companies are building on BTC, now that serious business transactions are made with bitcoin, it's about time for faucets to adapt.

BTC is real. It's money, and you've got to work to earn some. I hope all faucets will disappear in 2015. Faucets are hurting bitcoin by making some people believing you can get it while doing nothing sitting in your home. No, BTC isn't like that, and it shouldn't be any easier to get than any fiat currency. Even for small amounts.

people say you can not make big money with the faucet ( as a faucet owner )  which is really not true if you look at freebitco.in traffic do you know how much he is making monthly ? in thousands

so faucets are business a legal business i dont think so it is hurting anyone its a kind of market now and also some noobs get some free satoshis to play with.

freebitco.in is the largest and most popular faucet. they have to generate a certain amount of income each month to be in the position to let their faucet pay out. i am wondering what their actual profit is.

Precisely most of people here started with faucet, at first time of dealing with faucet i thought i can earn some money there but after a long run i realized that i was wrong but the good part faucets abducted me to enter the world of bitcoin. In simpliest faucets are like promotions the same in gambling in the field of casinos thay are giving out some mbtc just to let users to try out their services.

Yup, most people start with faucets, graduate to signature campaigns, and then finally start treating bitcoins as money.
As long as it increases adoption, I think they are a help to Bitcoin.

That's true, I used started out by using faucets. It's great way to start with Bitcoin and learning more about it along the way.

Yeah old time Faucets it was fun if you started with Bitcoin you can learn so much with it.

The only thing that was pain is in take so long to just get 0.5 BTC.

Even in old time also faucet earning were not worth to the time we spent.
If we hold bitcoin for some long time, then it may worth more when one satoshi values one dollar.
We need to understand the purpose of faucets. Faucets will help you to understand bitcoin ecosystem. It's not a way of earning, but a good way of collecting satoshi.

Yes I do suggest faucets if you are ready to hold bitcoin for long time, then faucet earning will help you when bitcoin values get appreciated.
I agree bitcoin faucet is not a earning but a way of collecting satoshi. Believe in bitcoin then collect and hold them. You will not be disappointed.

I doubt anyone says that faucet owners do not make money, if they didn't faucets wouldn't exist. A lot of faucets make a good amount of money even if they are not as famous as freebitco.in mosly because they pay dust and have like 100 ads all over the place

Bitcoin is still really hard to understand so faucets are helpful. Its much more easier to explain someone how it works when you actually show it. And everyone like free money

But to everyone who thinks faucets are a good way to get used to bitcoin and how it works, why not just put $20 in a account and get a months worth of work to play with. I mean free is nice but its alot easier to just work for an hour in the real world then spending 20 hours in the virtual world.

The big fact is that the most members from here has a real job and main income from it,soo bitcoin allows anyone to get an extra ,soo why not to do the both on free time?
Faucets arent and wont be never a waste for some members, people making 0,02btc daily from referals links, doing nothing besides get paid from the faucets admins, how much hash and how would be the electricity bill to get 0.60btc monthly anyone can try to say here something about it?Its pure profit not too much but think he or her can sleep and wake up with those balance daily ,when the most have to spend some time posting or exchanging .

Im sure the op thinked about earnings solo, doing the captchas,or surfing some page, the big fact is that typing captchas wont give the users the same ammount as faucets, and the best thing is for free since you pay the internet to do others things as well.I started at faucets and i were making int he begining something around 100k satoshis daily with some hours spending, till i find others ways faster and easy to earn bitcoins.

yeah i dont any bad thing about faucets, faucets is like a welcome advertisement for bitcoin to get you started with little satoshi in
your wallet. maybe the OP thinks that faucets brings the easy earning money vibe to new comers which is correct, but faucet has
been a huge help advertising bitcoin.

I'm a fan of faucets. It's a great way to introduce someone to bitcoin and give them something to play with. It almost provides the impression that "the community" is willing to give away bitcoin to new users because they trust the system. Obviously impressions aren't reality and  to that point...

How many people have actually received a reward payout that these faucets advertise?

"Earn $200 per hour..." or "Win our lottery!"...all of these are what excite us about using a faucet, right? It's the fact that we are told there's a chance we could win big.

Has anyone won big or are the faucets offering false advertising?

In my opinion faucets are pretty good to get ppl used to bitcoins and let them experiment with them
The first bits i earned was from faucets  Grin

Its just a small amount they give away.. they earn, if properly designed, more than they give away for free.
If it stops getting lucrative.. they will disappear
But tbh i dont think this will happen.

Edit: Never won big in faucets  Sad

Faucets doesn't give bitcoins for free, they gives you money for watching advertisments and through which they earn some money and gives you some proportion of it.

Yes without faucets it would have been very much tough for me to bring my friends into bitcoin ecosystem. Due to those free satoshi many people just wanted to test bitcoin transactions. Faucets are doing great job of initial attraction towards bitcoin also helps us to understand how bitcoin transactions work.
