Where is the professional accountant or the PR person - both seem absent to me......
does AM employ either?

There were long-time repeated claims that AM was getting both....
really?  could you give us a link to where FC said that?  I don't remember it.

Thank you FC, So guys is this what we were expecting? information that we already know?
what were you expecting?

I, for one, didn't know the exact figures for costs and expenses.  I also didn't know the figures for hardware sales.

I was expecting at least as much information as he told some random chinese girl what allowed her and the people from the chinese subforum to insider trading the AM securities.

FTFY

oh, so you were expecting him to give information beyond what he promised?

Why were you expecting that information?  Did FC ever make any sort of indication that today would be an announcement on anything other than the financial report?

Buy the rumors, sell the news.

The AM share price trend was downward until posting the rumors about an interview with friedcat so many bought shares expecting some really good news from friedcat.
Sadly there wasn't any so we are back to the downward trend.
I think you don't have to be a brilliant investor to predict the price movement now.

What about the board members? Friedcat not around there too? It worked 2 times so far that board members created a post for friedcat and he posted it here. So he safed time. Now its silence again since a long time. It really looked promising when they started it.

My takehome message from this is asicminer's income was 2 orders of magnitude higher than expense this quarter. (And they get really cheap electricity.)

I don't know what inference can be made about the electricity. Assuming ~50TH means ~5000 blades at 75W each, running 24 hours a day, we get 9000 kWh/day.

The question is - what period of time does the report represent? Probably 1 quarter, so ~90 days. So we get 810000 kWh for 760,035.12¥, or 0.9383¥/kWh.

That converts to 0.15 $/kWh. Color me very unimpressed. I thought it was about $0.07/kWh.

(If that is the case, then perhaps the statement is for 180 days - the financial half.)

As for their income being 2 orders of magnitude higher than expense, that is a bad thing. That means as their margins shrink, their profits have a long way to fall from their current levels. You want profits to be due to high revenues, not low expenses... Not to mention that AM's hardware will shortly be out of date.

It's impossible to determine anything given they haven't bothered to show the most fundamental piece of information i.e. what period does it cover....

AM might be expert at chips, but it does not understand shareholder communication or financial reports.

Compared to the last financial report:

- Mining revenue is decreasing rapidly; in fact it is less than a third of the reported revenue on the last fin. report
- Hardware sales are inline, -i.e not increasing at all and not increasing to cover mining loses
- Expenses are way up
- Plus no plan for the future has been reported.
- Shrinking revenues is not a good thing to see on a bitcoin-related company.

Conclusion: this time selling shares is justified. Owning shares is a high risk now.

The share price declined by over 85% since the last report, while net profit declined by 50%.

Last report (July, 23rd): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg2788821#msg2788821

Share price: about 4.5 BTC
Net profit: about 162,020 BTC

Today:

Share price: about 0.6-0.7 BTC
Net profit: about 84,513 BTC

Make your conclusions from that.

Right now I see a community practically pleading with FC to prove this is not the titanic.  Big promises and not delivering in any way that makes folks optimistic.

I am glad that a bunch of people will not understand what they are seeing and sell. It is just the beginning of a company that has begun the revolution of bitcoin. I for one am staying with AM and the proven over and over methods of what it takes to stay numeral
Uno in the bitcoin world. Without Friedcat and ASICminer we wouldn't have mining anywhere near what it is today. Keep on selling so I can keep on buying.

I'm staying too.  Not because I'm too confident, but because it's just too late for me to sell at this point.  My logic is telling me to stop losses in this extremely uncertain situation, but my emotions are urging me to hope that AM will somehow get back on track.

Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you'll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

Never love a stock, because it won't love you back.

Ditto, way too big of a loss to walk away right now.  It is indeed a gamble, but at this much of a loss why not?
