I read somewhere that ASICMiner is working in a scrypt miner, but no word from the source. Is that true?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

AFAIK, they looked in to the possibility, perhaps did some work on it, but decided it wasnt worth it. Too difficult/expensive

It was mentioned in the 24 September 2013 statement:

LTC ASIC
ASICMINER determined LTC ASIC is not viable since a high-speed memory bus is much more useful in other industries and very expensive to make in this regard.

And the downward trend continues, both in dividends and share prices.

Looks like AM is trying to pivot. Moving away from mining and towards peripherals (hubs, cooling solutions) and services (exchange, payment). Let's hope it works out and AM is keeping their eyes on the prize without spreading themselves too thin trying to cover too many things outside their core competency.

I sure hope we find out what is the situation with the 500 TH that was supposed to be deployed in Sept / Oct.

Successfully deploying that equipment would yield 15-20% of the network.

This is an ignorant statement, AM has paid about 0.6/share. While these dividends are can be considered as disappointing, they have handsomely rewarded their IPO investors (the same cannot be said for Labcoin). If you bought when the market priced the shares at a high price, that is your own fault (and poor market analysis) and not Bitfountain's.

Bitcoin is rallying and competition is here. If you don't believe the reinvested funds will be used properly, sell your shares.

I'm a late investor bought a bunch at 2.0 and 1.0/share. But I have to wholeheartedly agree with the above response.

I leave it here :

Quote from: friedcat
The business plan is unchanged. The network hashrate increase was still under our projection.
The total hash target originally set for the end of this year would probably achieved earlier.

We made an order of another brand of power chips which are about two weeks late. In October this will provide another 500TH/s (Gen1).

ASICMINER intends to grow the franshising program at a faster pace in October, so please participate in this process if you are capable of hosting blades and looking to mitigate some of your risks in buying hardware.

There hasn't been a huge hardware dividend payoff: is it because of reduced margins, or delays?
Because we are collecting funds to get ready for the exponentially increased devices to be assembled in September and October.

Friedcat has last week till promised deadline.

Maybe all this already happens under the hood? I mean, there are groupbuys for AM hardware, with lower prices of 1.1 BTC per blade etc...

Also the immersion cooling video should come "end of this month". I hope and expect it on the 27th.

And I also hope and expect AM gen 2 to be more efficient than the current KnCMiner and BitFury gear.

why does that matter? AM shares are bought in BTC. If anything, a rise in BTC / FIAT should result in an INCREASE in paid BTC because fixed fiat costs are lower.
