I don't think its gonna be effective cause if there are less people who can see on that post then it's hard to caught that scammers.
Exactly, but that's just one of the many reasons why no bump replies are a bad thing to the forum's ecosystem as I like to call it. Having no bumps when you reply to a topic no matter how old the topic is means that necro posters would have the easy time to discretely pumping their post counts by replying to old posts that don't seem relevant, without the bump in that old topic, people wouldn't easily check if there's been an anomaly, a closer inspection would reveal the abuse but it's not everyday that someone's have the time to check on profiles of each people here in the forum. Another thing is updates, if you don't bump old topics that needed an update, things would be left in question for so many people and who knows what might hurt when people don't know about the updates because it wasn't bumped, it's kind of like in a game, if you haven't heard about the new updates to the mechanics, you will have a hard time navigating the game for awhile.

That does pose a problem.

Weak hands.

I have closed a bank account I didn't have online access to (long story), the branch was 500Km away so it wasn't practical to keep it, and I planned to used a bit of the money to buy dips/DCA, unfortunately it's almost a month and the money isn't there yet, they legally have 30 days and it seems they will keep my money as long as possible...

If it's a lot of money you could lawyer up. You might have a case but the profit would have to be higher than the lawyer costs.
103  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 17, 2024, 08:59:29 PM
Who's selling two days before the halving?

There are probably lots of people.  Those who bought the bottom at $16K not too long ago and want to bank profits on the runup to the halving.  Those who bought the ETF launches and now see a correction so they're booking profits.  Those who paid for their tax debts with their credit card and now need to raise money.  Then of course the always popular lettuce handed individuals who bought at $72K after they saw the all time high articles and then quickly discovered they aren't built for this type of investment.  Pretty sure all of these people still believe Bitcoin will be higher at the end of the year though.

The Iran/Israel panic really pushed them over the edge as well, I would assume. But I still consider the current dip a bear trap. Not selling. Definitely not before the halving.

Yes, but we have legal weed now. So we can smoke away our grief. Although my seedlings look freakishly mutated for some reason. The leaves are growing all wrong. I guess because the seeds were like 10 years old and poorly stored lol.

The legalization came at the right time  Cheesy

maybe the weed you get from those seeds is "freakishly mutated" too... could be a special exeprience

This is the result of growing ancient seeds (mystery strains from seeds that I picked out of buds):

Note how the leaves are growing vertically or with the wrong shape.

It would seem that Bitcoin has found a support @62k. I doubt it will go lower, although we could see a bear trap before we return to 70k+.

Post, delete your post, then post again. That way you don't add "bumping power" to the topic.
(This only works on boards with a "bump" button)

Oh cool, so we do have a work-around!

Maybe we could implement something similar as one of the "addictional posting functions" but for all boards?
107  Other / Meta / Reply without bumping? on: April 16, 2024, 06:30:17 PM
Is it possible to reply to a topic without bumping it? I think this would be a very useful way to warn others of scammers, trolls and suspicious posts without bumping the thread to the top where more people can see.
108  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Largest DEX receives wells notice from the SEC on: April 16, 2024, 06:18:12 PM
Just to play devil's advocate here, is it truly a DEX if it has a Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer?  This is a company.  I don't believe that's the correct platform in which to pursue the notion of a decentralised exchange.  A DEX in its truest form should be purely a protocol, not a commercial entity.  Some open-source software a user can run which will connect them peer-to-peer to other users, nothing more.  Just like Bitcoin.  The moment you try and make it a business, you can (and probably will) be under the microscope of numerous regulatory bodies.

Notice how Uniswap has "employees".  Bitcoin has "contributors".  Bitcoin is not a company and is therefore highly resistant to regulation.  Companies, by comparison, easily crumble under the weight of government pressure.

DEXes cannot be regulated like CEXes. It is technically not possible. Gary is just bored at this point and lashing out at whatever.

The moment they formed a company, they made it possible.  Uniswap Labs is a company.  Companies get regulated.

They screwed up.

I never really considered Unidex a true DEX. They love profit too much to become fully decentralized, open source and community managed.
109  Economy / Reputation / Re: Whatever happened to all the morons who say that I am impersonating someone? on: April 16, 2024, 04:40:22 PM
I don't really care whether or not you are an imposter or not, but you could easily verify that, if you cared so much. I do not see the issue. Why make another topic that contributes NOTHING to this community?

If this is your mathoverflow account then you should be able to easily verify that publically. (How about posting something in chat? -This would not prove that you have a degree, though I can vouch for the authenticity of the math made in some posts by that account)

Also, nobody is claiming that you are an imposter. You seem starved for attention?

Edit: It seems he has made an alt-account (today) with which he is now role-playing as the 'real' Joseph Van Name.
110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 16, 2024, 04:21:25 PM
This little dip is nothing.  I have much bigger problems; the rabbits are eating the tulips we planted last fall so my wife ordered some coyote urine from Amazon and instructed me to spray it over everything.  It's a tiny little spray bottle that you have to pump with your finger much like a bottle of perfume and it comes out in such a fine mist (also just like perfume)... well it went everywhere with the breeze a now I smell like a f@#$ng homeless coyote.  I'm hoping it's not female coyote urine or I'm going to be in big trouble.  I think I'll just skip my nature walk today.

When I look at that little dip and your problem with tulips/rabbits/spray I remember my problem with this crazy climate that has completely changed and from 30+ degrees Celsius since a few days ago, tomorrow morning they say it will be close to 0 degrees Celsius and my tulips, all other flowers and vegetables that are not resistant to low temperatures could be destroyed. I tried with certain covers that protect against low temperatures, but the wind is so strong that unfortunately it doesn't make sense. I hope the meteorologists are wrong this time.

Where is all that heat and drought that Greta Thunberg predicted?
It ain't in Dubai either.

111  Economy / Reputation / Re: Anonymity of Bitcointalk forum members on: April 16, 2024, 03:44:55 PM
Does it mean that our activities here just ends within the forum and doesn't extend to real life? And how do we cope with performing transactions with one another even when our identities are not known and in a case of fraudulent activities, how can the culprits be held responsible or accountable?

Bitcointalk is a website like any other and Theymos makes sure that we are as free and private as possible. Which we all appreciate very much. But if the feds come knocking, they will get your IP address and they will find out who you are. Theymos won't fight the feds and none of us would expect him to. But the question here would be: why are the feds after you in the first place? This forum is not a criminal haven. It is just a forum.

Scammers are just usually small fish and they won't get caught because of that. Now, if some big cartel boss would be using Bitcointalk to conduct his illegal business, that is a different story.

112  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Buying forest with bitcoin on: April 16, 2024, 03:34:25 PM
Hi fellow Bitcoiners!

Me and my team are building blockchain based platform for investments in real world forests. Right now we are working on stablecoin implementation, however, I would like to ask you - would you be interested to buy forest backed security tokens with Bitcoin and if so would you prefer to receive dividends in Bitcoin over stablecoins? If you are interested further in the project, our website is https://www.upwood.io where you can read our whitepaper and sign up for waitlist.

From a marketing perspective, you should create a better looking thread with more information and more graphics. You cannot just expect everyone will be interested enough to click on your website link, you need to give them a "sampler" of the most interesting infos.

Strong indications of a Trump victory in the fall.

Trump will bury evs and release the fraken (sorry for the pun)

My advice to my fellow americans is lots of canned food on hand.

water on hand.

air filters on hand

water filters on hand.

at least one gun or pistol per person.

ammo

Good thing I live in Germany now.  Tongue You guys are so screwed. Roll Eyes Yes I know Europe is screwed if Trump wins - Thats the joke.

Is that the same Germany whos foreign policy is based on a feminist and value-based view (with or without a 360° turn on countries that are 100'000s of km away)?
Or is it the Germany where companies that stop producing and invoicing are just taking a break?

I mean in all honesty it's all fun and game to make jokes about the dementia death race for presidency in the USA - unless you're german resident. I mean that specific Germany where USA is a nazi code that is to be avoided at all costs.

* So much to explain here for english readers to mock about the germans and their government, they are hard to explain. First of all the foreign minister of Germany asked president Putin publicly to make a 360 degree turn on his Ukraine aggression. Second the same ministress talked about countries that are 100 thousands of km away (yeah, those shithole countries, y'all know what and where down there).  Third, large fashion outlets in Germany start removing clothes with USA on it as they think it stands for "Unser seliger Adolf" (though they admit it can be occasionally also used for the United States of America).

Seriously, I love my german friends, but you are right now NOT in the position to make fun of anybody (something about a glass house, stones and whatnot).

[EDIT]:
Thinking about it, most probably none of us is right now in the position to make fun of anybody else's country. We're all f*cked by TPTB equally in one way or another.

Was that edit because you read my tiny text? Cheesy

The EUDSSR is screwed with or without Trump... especially green-woke multicultural Germany... enjoy the last songs on the Titanic, I'd say

Poor people of Sydney.
Time to execute such barbaric knife yielding murderers if you ask me.

Death is not enough of a punishment. Having to live the rest of your life eating moldy bread and drinking stale water in a damp dark room with no doors or windows or human contact. No bed, no belongings, no entertainment. And the occasional torture. THAT would be a better punishment.

Around here, that's not punishment, it's called hodl.

You're not wrong.

116  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why are QRNG chips not used for nonce generation in mining hardware? on: April 15, 2024, 05:04:20 PM
Mining hardware has no need of them as they are just making guesses at the required values to decrypt the hash.

Yes. guesses, which are created by algorithms and dictated by classical mechanics. Don't get me wrong, it is still technically impossible to predict those guesses, but not literally impossible. What happens when technology advances?

The war taking place has been resolved for now.
We should be expecting a new ATH this week

Hopefully Israel doesn't retaliate any time soon but have vowed to.

I doubt they have the balls after the Biden told them they would be on their own, if they decide to attack Iran.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It takes the balls... on: April 14, 2024, 09:49:57 PM
Everyone claimed that they wanted the dips, every friends I knew have been screaming about Bitcoin dips for weeks now.

Finally it's happening, are you buying already? Because I asked three friends via WhatsApp and they wanted more dips.

It seems that the Iran Israel conflict is affecting the price of Bitcoin but also do not forget that every bullrun has ever has a 30% plus drops on the way up, its obvious if you are good at reading charts.

It's all part of the game, so very normal.

The BUT here is how people get so weak after the dips finally happen and they do nothing, Wake the hell up, now it's happening right in front of your eye, do not sleep on it.

Instead of doing nothing, consider DCA.

I agree. Although I expect another correction on the 4 hour chart, down to the 55k support, if we go below 61k again. I have put in a stop-loss buy @65k, in case this is a bear trap. But the probability of making a profit from another daily red candle is quite high, from my perspective. We have been waiting on a correction too long, so this dip might have a bit more dip in it, especially with the Iran-Israel scare. (Although I find holding Bitcoin is more safe than fiat or gold, in the event of a third world war)
119  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Israel commiting a genocide on Hamas or are fighting for their survival on: April 14, 2024, 03:21:41 AM
I would say both is true. Some anti-Israel people would argue the legitimacy of Israels existence is imaginary and unjust, due to their literal land robbery and continued abuses of the palestinian population. On the other hand, anti-Palestinians refuse to acknowledge Israel's crimes and see Israel as having earned the moral high ground to bomb children, just because Hamas destabilized the situation on October 7th 2023 as the first attacker.  I think that both sides are completely irrelevant, because Israel exists now and there is no time machine with which we can travel back in time to undo that. That does not justify picking a side for the genocide of either people.

We can discuss right and wrong all day but the fact is that regardless of their motives, they both fight for their survival and because they want to exterminate each other and take the land. There is justice here. Murder is murder no matter who is right. And we should not support one murderer over the other. If it were up to me, I would not support nor oppose either side. Let them fight, if they want to fight. Other countries should not intervene. Doing so gives one country the advantage over the other, without there being a moral reason for giving them that advantage, since they only use it to abuse the other for purely ideological reasons.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Proof of Scam ? on: April 14, 2024, 12:53:14 AM
The halving of bitcoin is indeed a dirty little trick hiding in the source code.

The bitcoin white paper misleads:

"The steady addition of a constant of amount of new coins..."

Point being:

White paper does not mention halving !

The white paper is more of a rough explanation on how it works. If you want technical details on how Bitcoin actually works at the development level then: the code is open source. Which means anyone can take a look at the inner mechanisms. You can find it on Github. I won't provide a link because for how you insulted Bitcoin. Also, someone already provided the link in this thread.
