1061  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will another ETF be immediately bullish for Bitcoin? on: July 12, 2023, 12:02:59 AM
I’m surprised to see that news outlets are saying there’s only about a 50% chance of an ETF approval. Not sure what time like they’re putting with those odds, but at this point I’d say the odds are closer to 100% with the banks filing for these funds and it will be bullish. I also believe approvals have been delayed until this point to try and match the demand with the supply from distribution of the mtgox coins.

Oh they have no idea! They are just stating 50% so they can cover their butts no matter which direction the ETF result goes. It's just them baiting readers as a sort of marketing tactic to grow their own reader audience. No matter which way it goes, the publishers will boast of a true prediction from their side.

I too would be leaning towards ETF approval at this point.

The first signal of an approval would be a pump. Half an hour to an hour later, we will see social media blowing up and lastly, the "news" will be the "first" to report on it.
1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Procrastination, Buy Bitcoin And Prepare For The Next Halving. on: July 11, 2023, 11:48:30 PM
Better to buy Bitcoin now and then procrastinate on selling. Grin

I think procrastinating is perhaps the wrong term for someone who still has not bought Bitcoin. Most people who cannot make up their mind on when to buy Bitcoin are simply suffering under the delusion that somehow, sometime, Bitcoin will drop to a few dollars and then go up to 1 million USD. They are waiting to make that "golden purchase". But the truth is that they will be left behind. And they will definitely regret not having bought Bitcoin when they had the chance.

Oh well, to each his/her own.

It's been like Groundhog Day movie for the last 2 weeks. It's just boring.

You think Groundhog Day movie is boring?

Not as boring as any Star Wars movie.

Star wars is gooooooooood

It used to be. Hell, I would take Episode 1 over the garbage movies they make nowadays. Although surprisingly the shows are decent.
1064  Economy / Economics / Re: I cannot go home if I don't make a lot of money now!! on: July 11, 2023, 06:49:19 PM
when i was kids, i need to study very hard, to get a lot of score in the test. if i got a zero mark in a math test, i am very scare to go home and show the test paper to my mum.

when i am grown up, i have kids and wife now, i need to work very hard, to get a lot of money in the job. if i got a paycut, or i got fired, i am very scared to go home, i can't sleep well, my head is sweating, the memory of getting zero mark in a test keep haunting me like the nightmare, i need to go out and make a lot of money!!

tell me anything i need to do to make a lot of money. doesn't matter what, i would do anything to get all the money, even if it mean unlawful and unethical!

I think that your childhood traumas were caused by your parents or other authority figures making unrealistically high demands of you because they were taught the same way and they think that such an upbringing must somehow be right. It is more important for you to overcome this trauma before you can live a happy life. Unless you live in a place with extreme poverty, getting a job after being fired is not hard. You just have been conditioned to be fearful of failure. But failure is important. It teaches us and makes us greater. Would your family starve if you had to find a new job? Would something terrible happen if you were to get a bad grade? No. That failure would have forced you to find a new path for success. Perhaps even a better path.
1065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: July 11, 2023, 03:44:36 AM
I wish I could have posted this in a more better place but since the thoughts came from gambling addiction, I thought it wise to ask this question over here and I hope we can discuss and get this straight.

Just as the tittle already ask, I really want to know if people who are successful in gambling also seen as addicts because I believe  for one to be successful in gambling or whatever they choose to do, there must be some good amount  of time and effort invested in it as well as money and we know that a successful  gambler must have invested  both time, effort and even money to make any reasonable  winning  and these also are features of an addict as there are always excessive time spent on a betting site.

Now let's be sincere, will you also classify a successful gambler as an addict?

I have been seeing a lot of posts about personal gambling addiction among forum members lately and the trend is slightly worrying to me... Why is there such a sudden spike in gambling addicts?

Anyone who has a problem with gambling, i.e. gambling addicts, should not be trying to place their addiction into a better light by finding a positive side about it. That is not a good way to deal with any kind of addiction.

Successful gamblers are just lucky. Addiction itself is a disease of the mind and does not necessarily present itself in every gambler. And it is not something which should be underestimated or ignored. If you feel you have a problem then you need to address it because it will become a much bigger issue, 100% of the time, if you simply decide to leave it alone.
1066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Healthy mindset to save earnings from gambling on: July 10, 2023, 06:08:38 PM
Mentality alone is not going to make you rich. It could help you become motivated to try to become rich but in the end what makes a person rich is pure luck. You could open 100 businesses and they could all flop, not because the product you are selling has no market but because you opened your business at the wrong time or in the wrong place. On the other hand, some guy who did absolutely no market research and just decided to sell something might have met an Influencer, who made his business very famous and he gets rich overnight.

I think we should all be happy with what we have, and not see money-making as the ultimate goal of our lives. I am sure that every old billionaire in the world regrets not having lived his/her life differently and only having used their life's time to make money.

As I see it, a healthy mindset is important to live a happy life. Getting rich is just a bonus.
1067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoins on: July 10, 2023, 04:18:11 PM
I read some old threads about lost Bitcoins ND this question has been on my mind ever since
If the lost Bitcoins were for instance recovered will the price of Bitcoin drop  because in theory it would affect the amount of Bitcoin in circulation which will lower it's price . I saw in those threads that lost Bitcoins are considered a donation to the Bitcoin network. so if my theory is correct then we should be happy those Bitcoins were lost.

If the lost coins were able to be recovered with methods other than finding or retrieving the seed phrase, then Bitcoin would die because that would mean that its possible to find out the seed phrase with other methods (which is currently thought to be an impossible thing to do). In such a case, anyone could get access to any wallet. There would be no point in buying Bitcoin and the people who already own Bitcoin would not be able to sell it. Their money would be lost forever.

But thats a hypothetical situation which is not possible. Even if one were to use a new generation of quantum computer, Bitcoin has safeguards against any known method of brute-forcing seed phrases or otherwise.

Not that it has not been tried, without success. Grin
1068  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which is better to invest in copy trading or bot on: July 10, 2023, 03:55:57 PM
Which is better to invest in copy trading or bot

And is there any other alternatives

I have 4k btc to invest

Both are extremely bad ideas which will end up with you losing all your money. And before you even ask, no, signals are not real and only scammers will provide signals. What you should do, since you are so interested in trading, is to learn how to trade in the first place and then you can practice on mock trading sites which do not require you to use real money. After you have gotten used to trading and understand the fundamentals of trading analysis and strategies then and only then should you try trading with actual real money.

Copy trading? Show me a trader who never makes mistakes. Bots? If there was a good trading bot, it would not be open to the public.

You have to be careful when it comes to money. You have to assume everyone is trying to trick you.
1069  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is more important for crypto users? on: July 10, 2023, 03:28:54 PM
Can you explain me why i need to learned gambling?

Simply put, here only millions of money are managed by asset owners, so where i have no money. In fact, i have ideas about gambling, but I don't have the ability to spend money there.

If it is your desire to start gambling with crypto then its in your best interest to first and foremost learn all the ins and outs of gambling and of crypto. Otherwise you are just asking to lose all your money on bad information or by mistake. At the very least you should have some cryptocurrency background knowledge (how to create a wallet, how to buy, sell and transact your coins and how to keep your wallet safe) and you need to learn how to play the specific gambling game that you have your eye on before you even start depositing your funds to the online casino.

But its your money, nobody is forcing you to learn anything. Roll Eyes
1070  Economy / Gambling / Re: Challenge One Million Dice Bets with Profit every week. on: July 09, 2023, 09:17:14 PM

Gambling as a major income is kind of like to the moon, only few guys can achieve. Quit gambling also seems like impossible. In past 10 years, I almost spent 5-7 hrs per day to gamble. If no money, I would like to watch and refuse to leave. This is sick. Most of you cannot imagine the depth I walked towards. Gambling is part of my life or in my blood forever.

This is a typical admission of a gambling addict. Addict never give up by themselves, they need help. If you declare your actions to be sick yet you want to go ahead bringing more people into it  Well I am sure the lessons are getting clearer.

Play reasonably, gambling is luck based.

I would agree with that assessment. Especially with OP's past posts, one could assume that OP has some mental issues, especially when it comes to gambling. He posts erratic and confusing things in the past about losing everything but now he is back again "one last topic" and he will quit gambling. That sounds like something that someone who is deeply addicted to gambling would say.

I think we should stop encouraging him and instead try to discourage him from further gambling because it is clear by his post history that he needs help and a lot of time away from online casinos.

1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Can't Stand POS for Bitcoin on: July 09, 2023, 02:45:12 PM
POS might be the end of Bitcoin, therefore I am totally against it! We know what happened to Ethereum the moment it became POS, do we not?

Why, has ETH died?

I have some really bad news for you if by god forbid what miracle of hell Bitcoin will go POS, it won't mean the end of it.

It has for many people. Especially those people who see no point in a cryptocurrency which is no longer decentralized or in the danger of the possibility of becoming centralized in the near future. With POW this possibility would not have existed for ETH. But it certainly does exist now. And honestly, I think its just a question of time until that centralization manifests itself in one form or another.

If that happened to Bitcoin, I would rather sell my bags and go back to the fiat system than hope a POS Bitcoin would not eventually become a CBDC, except in the hands of the rich and not the government (Although honestly, I see little difference).
1072  Economy / Gambling / Re: What other gambling sites offers free bitcoins like freebitco on: July 09, 2023, 10:50:59 AM
Faucets are just waste of time for me. Like on Freebitco, earning just 7 sat ($0.0217 if bitcoin is $31000) every hour is a waste of time.

I have not tried most of the site faucets before, how it is given can be somehow different from freebitco faucet, but try any on this site and you can tell us any of your experience:

https://www.gamblingbitcoin.com/bitcoin-gambling-sites-with-faucet/

Manyof the gambling sites listed have official threads on this forum. Gambling sites like BC Game, Fortunejack and  Trustdice.

It used to be seen as a waste of time years ago when Bitcoin was worth almost nothing, as well. But surprise, that faucet-won Bitcoin is well worth it now, is it not? And if you consider Bitcoin to go up in price (as you should) in the future, then obviously it will be worth it. Although having said that, personally I would not be bothered to claim the Bitcoin every hour. You could make much more Bitcoin with other methods in an hour. Unless you write some sort of script or something which mines the faucets for you automatically. I doubt that gambling sites with their own faucets would like to see a automated method. It might be against the terms and conditions since their faucets are marketing tools to keep people on their website.

1073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Can't Stand POS for Bitcoin on: July 07, 2023, 08:13:08 PM
Hey folks,

I just have to get this off my chest: I absolutely hate Proof of Stake (POS) for Bitcoin. It's like the killer of projects and takes us back to the days of centralized control. No thanks!

Let me break it down for you. POS puts power and decision-making in the hands of a few who lock up their funds. That's just not cool. Bitcoin is all about decentralization and giving everyone a chance to participate. That's why Proof of Work (POW) rocks!

POS brings its own set of issues, like the "double-signing problem" and the "Nothing at stake problem." It messes with the system's objectivity and reliability. With POW, we've got a solid foundation. The computational work required to mine new blocks ensures the validity of the ledger and keeps things trustworthy.

And here's another thing: POW can be optimized! We can find ways to get rid of those pesky ASICs and make the mining process more inclusive and fair. We have the power to make it better, folks.

So, let's stick with POW for Bitcoin, okay? POS just doesn't cut it for me. It brings centralization, vulnerabilities, and limitations. POW is where it's at – promoting decentralization, reliability, and room for improvement.

Feel free to share your thoughts and prove me wrong if you dare. Let's keep the discussion going, but I'll be over here rooting for POW!

Cheers!

POS might be the end of Bitcoin, therefore I am totally against it! We know what happened to Ethereum the moment it became POS, do we not? Around 46% of Ethereum nodes were run by two addresses. If that is not instant centralization then I do now know what is. This is also why I consider POS too risky for Bitcoin. Bitcoin needs to keep on its POW path. Bitcoin is being constantly upgraded and updated and is becoming better and better day by day.

And anyone complaining about POW being bad for the environment does not understand the problem is a energy generation problem, not a energy usage problem.

A truly decentralized blockchain cannot be based on a system that has a "nothing at stake" problem. In fact, having no mining costs only means its not worth anything intrinsically, and only has speculative value.

This #Bitcoin mining farm in Guatemala 🇬🇹 is running on vegetable oil, helping restaurants from throwing it at a local lake ⛏️

Video included in the tweet. I believe philipma1957 will like it.

Cool

The mining set up not just helps secure the network and profits in Bitcoin, it also helps restaurants dispose of their waste. It's another illustration of how the incentive structure within Bitcoin fills gaps in the real world and make it better.

The same example as the "ransomware market" that I keep on repeating like a broken record. Haha.

Lol. Its running on vegetable oil or is it just cooled by vegetable oil? Both seem like bad ideas to be honest.  Grin

I heard that you can even mix in vegetable oil with diesel or run modern diesel cars (with a few tweaks) on pure vegetable oil and for the short term, everything will be fine, performance-wise. But in the mid term or long term it will absolutely gunk up and destroy the car's engine.

The same must be true for electricity generation for Bitcoin mining. At some point in the very near future the vegetable oil will gunk up everything and the motor will stop working. Why not just use old motor oil or something? Hell, you could even melt down and distill plastic into use-able fuel which won't gunk up the motor (much).

But I do like the idea of using waste to fuel Bitcoin mining. Another good idea would be to ferment alcohol from scraps or methane gas from cow dung.  Wink
1075  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Is It Good For Local Crypto Forum To Include Other Interest To Attract More.. on: July 07, 2023, 04:32:07 PM
I have a thread about this in my local community but I would like to ask the whole community

Is it good for local forums to include other interests to attract more traffic, we all know Bitcointalk is an international forum dedicated to the promotion of Bitcoin, and being the first makes them the number one forum about Bitcoin, if you're going to launch a local forum is it good to add other interests like local news, local celebrity gossip, local sports to attract more local users.

The strategy is to get other people with other interests in the forum to get them to know about Cryptocurrency which is the main theme of the forum.

And do you have a local Cryptocurrency forum in your country?

I would like to highlight that I am launching a local Cryptocurrency forum there's a misinterpretation of my post I should have included this, anyway got a few domain names and we are in the selection process.

I do not think that we should include other things in the forum which have absolutely nothing to do with cryptocurrency. Bitcointalk is not a general forum for whatever, its a forum for Bitcoin first and (other) cryptocurrency second. Sure, we may have sub forums which have less to do with cryptocurrency, but they are always deeply intertwined with it.

Also, I do not see a need to attract more users. The forum is doing really well as it is.

If anything, new people coming in that have no interest in cryptocurrency in the first place might dilute the very essence of Bitcointalk itself and make it into "generaltalk". Although on the other hand, we might create interest in crypto for people who were not interested in it before. But thats not a good enough argument to overhaul our image.

1076  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Better to have a trading knowledge than depending on signals. on: July 07, 2023, 03:21:59 PM
Signals are complete scams and should be ignored by all traders.

With signals there is always a catch. Either the person or group who creates the signals is demanding money or is trying to grow their community to a point where its large enough and then they start demanding money in the form of some fee.

They are always so confident in the signals but often try to desperately hide their failures or make excuses for them.

You would have to be really gullible to fall for trading signals. Roll Eyes

If you want to trade then learn the ins and outs yourself. All the information you need is on the internet and all you need to do is google it. Although I would recommend trading testcoins and not real coins until you feel that you are ready to do so.
1077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kyc for accounts or wallets on: July 07, 2023, 02:29:59 PM
According to my Bitcoin understanding Bitcoin is an asset that should be owned by an owner anonymously  now my point here is Bitcoin investors especially newbies should be very careful with wallets and crypto accounts that requires kyc for verification most newbies may be shocked or confused but the reasons are for your safety
kyc puts you personal information and privacy at risk it also gives ability for your transactions to be monitored.
So please before making wallet registrations always read through terms and conditions as well as privacy policy
Or rather get a hard ware wallet especially if you have large amounts of Bitcoin or other crypto currencies

Part of the Bitcoin idea was anonymous identity of users
so as an asset owner you should support this notion
DON'T FORGET TO KEEP YOUR KEYS SAFE MATE!!

I have never heard of any kind of wallet which requires KYC?

Not only would that be completely against the point of decentralization, it would be a wallet that nobody with a brain would want to use. Nobody wants to give away their government documents away so freely. Remember, those documents can be used by identity thieves to take out loans in your name or do worse things. Even KYC exchanges are nowadays frowned upon and rightfully so. We have absolutely no need for centralized platforms for cryptocurrency. The only use for them is convenience in buying and selling. But is that convenience really worth giving away your sensitive documents?

I think everyone should stay away from KYC. There are better alternatives.
1078  Economy / Gambling / Re: Some poker terminologies you may want know on: July 07, 2023, 02:18:52 PM
To dismiss luck as irrelevant and declare poker purely a game of skill would be overstating the case. Both chance and skill are essential to the outcome of any game, including poker. While a more seasoned player has a statistical edge, the luck of the draw can always swing the game in another player's favour.

The analogy to chess is, well, not perfect. In a game of chess, all of your opponent's pieces and their prospective actions are completely visible to you, while in a game of poker, certain information is concealed from you. Because of this, bluffing becomes an essential part of the game of poker. Therefore, it is more of a subjective than objective comparison to say that poker is easier than chess.

I completely agree with you! I think that when poker is played in person, it is less of a game of luck and more of a game of trying to spot the bluffer. This is easier because you can tell by emotions and facial features or even the tone of voice. But online poker is quite different, there is no face to look at and nobody except perhaps a username to judge. The online version is basically a game of pure luck, I would therefore say.

One of the reasons why I do not like to play online poker, really...

But there are live webcam versions, I think. Not that I have seen many of those, though.
1079  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is it nomal for BLACKJACK.FUN to investigate for more than 6 months? on: July 06, 2023, 06:28:33 PM
I have never heard of an investigation taking such a long time. 6 months is not even a timeline for bureaucratic nonsense in Europe, and if you know Europe, especially Germany, then you know it takes weeks for anyone to do anything.  Roll Eyes

If I were OP, I would probably start reaching out to a legal representative who knows what is going on or at least can find out. Depending on the situation, OP could get win this case. Of course only if he did nothing wrong or they cannot prove that he did something wrong.

Although in my experience, legitimate casinos do not investigate you unless you did something suspicious or broke their Terms of Service.

1080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stay updated on: July 06, 2023, 05:44:10 PM

I completely agree with you my friend, indeed, you hit the nail in the head, in this time and age, it is no longer feasible to depend on google

I still rely on Google for my sports news and in fact they have accurate news and from Google you get wide range of information and education because they also direct you to some of the social media handles of the research you are making like the team's official handles or other veritable sources that you can access information. When visiting online news agency, I think it is wise to focus on the news letter itself and forget other ads that comes up, some people get carried away and probably try to sign-up to certain links of team's for news but that is dangerous to sign up to pages you are not really sure of. This is why I prefer Google to blogs.

Google is definitely the number one go-to for most people, I think...

Social media is a close second, and to be honest, probably a faster way to get the most current news before anyone else. You just have to know the right accounts to follow and be very active.

Big news sites are the third option but it usually takes them hours or sometimes even days to catch on and report the news, so they are not too valuable as a data resource.

Blogs are completely worthless since they only copy the news word for word from the news sites anyway. Google is and always was #1. I just wish they took their users privacy more seriously. Roll Eyes
