621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins on: November 21, 2023, 05:11:35 AM
The cryptocurrency landscape is gradually taking a new turn and am loving it already. It's like the era of BTC dominance and dictation of other altcoins performance is gradually winding down.

TAO, KAS, BGB, TIA among other numerous altcoins are among those that have recorded ATH recently even as BTC struggle to hold up the $36,500 resistance.

Among other altcoins that have been impressive are ORDI, SATS, VMPX, WOJAK and PEPE1.

Fortunately there is an ongoing event for new users on Bitget where there is  $10,000 prize pool in the latest Hotcoins season 5 edition.

As we look forward to the anticipated bullrun come 2024, what altcoins are you holding and why do you think they will bring more returns compared to others?

I would not even go as far as to compare Bitcoin with altcoins, lol...

I admit to trading altcoins to leverage my Bitcoin sometimes but I deeply believe that the only reliable and trustworthy store of value is Bitcoin.

But altcoins have fascinating functions which the blockchain of Bitcoin does not support. DeFi being the most interesting one. And if you go by that popularity as a reason for investment then at least pick only from the most popular altcoins which rank in the very top on coinmarketcap.  The lower in rank you go, the riskier the investment becomes, not only because the project might be bad but because of low liquidity, you might never be able to retrade your BTC back (or at least a part).

All the altcoins you have mentioned, are considered by myself as extremely risky. I would keep away.
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really too Expensive? Then Buy Satoshis on: November 19, 2023, 02:50:05 AM
Whenever anyone asks me how they can get started and I recommend them to buy Bitcoin, they immediately hesitate and say it's too high. My response has always been that Bitcoin is available in a smaller denomination. Anybody that is serious wouldn't mind since those satoshis can get compounded to 1 BTC one day.

Although I would also argue that Bitcoin under 100k is not expensive.

Not everyone would be able to buy $100K bitcoin or a $1M  Bitcoin.

Well, of course that is true for the purchase of 1 BTC But not what I meant. Luckily we can break Bitcoin up into smaller parts and still call it Bitcoin, but it can become confusing whether we mean a whole Bitcoin or just Bitcoin in general. In my own case I meant it in general.

And I think that everyone here would agree with me that 100k for a Bitcoin is a steal, when considering its future potential.
623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really too Expensive? Then Buy Satoshis on: November 18, 2023, 09:54:07 PM
If Bitcoin is too expensive then you should have bought sooner!  Tongue  Grin

Furthermore I would argue that the topic title should be: "Not enough money for Bitcoin? Then buy Satoshis." Because the value of both Bitcoin and Satoshi scale, so you are buying BTC at the same Satoshi price as you would be at buying Satoshis. If you consider Bitcoin has a too high price-tag then so do the Satoshi.

Although I would also argue that Bitcoin under 100k is not expensive.
624  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Landfill methane to mine Bitcoin on: November 18, 2023, 03:39:09 AM
While I have also heard of methane being used to generate electricity (which can of course be used to mine Bitcoin), I have never heard of landfill methane being anything other than an anecdotal energy source. There is not enough raw material for the concept to scale up to something bigger. And good for that, because we would need to produce a lot of organic trash.

And that sounds like a whole other problem.
625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 17, 2023, 11:00:30 PM
  • ETF approval in January

Why January?
626  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is Better Than Digital Gold on: November 17, 2023, 10:45:09 PM
The connection between gold and bitcoin (BTC) as stores of value is obvious, and the demand for BTC as a digital store of value was a big reason why the cryptocurrency grew in popularity, crypto services provider Matrixport said in a report Monday.
Bitcoin’s market capitalization is $540 billion, equivalent to 10.8% of the market cap of physical financial gold, Matrixport said, adding that gold exchange-traded-funds (ETFs) are valued at $200 billion. Read

Considering the price of Bitcoin after all those disasters has been steadily gaining value, once we get into the clearing, Bitcoin will see an amazing growth once nothing is holding it back.

But for that to happen we really need to consider getting away from using decentralized money on centralized exchanges/platforms.

The ETF approval news will be huge, though. I suspect a very nice pump.
627  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 17, 2023, 09:09:33 AM
DCA strategy be damned, now is the time to fill your bags. Anyone left straggling
behind after the ETF approval news comes out has only themselves to blame.
628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not all educated are educated. on: November 17, 2023, 08:58:17 AM
Simply put, banks and fiat are part of the system and bitcoin was invented against the system. Now they are trying to control it as much as possible with more laws, more KYC, demonising mixers and trying to impose blacklists, and if they succeed bitcoin will become part of the system. It's like the ETF spots that everyone is waiting for the price to go up: what they are going to do is make bitcoin even more part of the system.

For most of us, watching the governments struggle against Bitcoin and fail repeatedly was a historical experience. It really highlights how unstoppable and incorruptible Bitcoin is. The corrupt are panicking because there is nobody to threaten, nobody to bribe and nobody to blame. Satoshi Nakamoto did good in hiding his identity, otherwise he would have spent his life going from courtroom to courtroom before the government even let him see the inside of a prison cell. I mean can you imagine how much the money printers (the government) must hate the founder of Bitcoin?
629  Other / Off-topic / Re: Reversible computation promises cryptographic strength instead of weakness. on: November 17, 2023, 08:41:53 AM
Why do you still struggle to understand the difference between "encryption" which by design is and has to be reversible and "hash algorithm" that by design is not reversible?
By the way in Bitcoin we do not use any kind of encryption whatsoever. So even bringing it up using AES in context of Bitcoin is irrelevant.

^Basically this.

Also, 40 bucks for an article that you can read for free on Sci-Hub? Lol what a steal. Does OP get an affiliate commission or something?

630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid a scam project? on: November 17, 2023, 04:37:33 AM
There are so many new projects launching everyday and some of them can be good and some of them can be a scam as well. How can we identify it well? Perhaps we should have more discussion about it so we all can learn from everyone's experience.

Just remember to listen to your gut feeling, and most importantly, always make sure you are following common sense. Those two things will keep you very safe. However, if you slacken the security, then you might find yourself in trouble.

Most scams are built very poorly and lazily. And this is the most important identifying mark of a scam project. A professional project will have put in a large amount of work, and therefore money, into every detail. Also, they will try to make sure that their business is completely transparent. The same goes for their team members. There are no anonymous team members. They should vouch for the project with their real identity, and they should be able to prove that they are who they say they are. A scammer usually would not waste money or time on a scam project.

631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important for gambling success? on: November 17, 2023, 04:21:05 AM
I have the believe that success in gambling requires a mixture of luck and skill. This is opposed to some people that believe that gambling is entirely a game of luck and others who believe it is entirely a game of skill.

So I am tempted to inquire if skill is all that is needed to be successful in gambling or luck. Whichever be the option, which of them is the most important factor for gambling success?

Neither luck nor skill are part of gambling. Luck does not exist, that lets just get that out of the way. And skill? Well perhaps in some cases skill could shift the probabilities in your favor but in the end, you cannot have a higher winning probability than the house. Otherwise casinos would go bankrupt in a matter of minutes.

I think that whenever we start creating superstitions, all we are doing is lying to ourselves. The end result is always gambling more than you intended, so it is quite a counterproductive practice. I really do not recommend it.
632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner needs your advices in gambling. on: November 17, 2023, 02:13:07 AM
I’m a new member here, and I want to gamble on online casinos. I found some good trusted casinos. And I want to begin with a game with a low budget. First, I need your suggestions about the best games, slots. Live casino for a beginner.
Do you think Me starting gambling would effect me in my real life or make me addicted to gambling. What’s you suggestion and advices.

A lot of online gambling casinos tend to notice the trend of confused newbies and therefore they usually offer practice games. You can play them to try out the game itself and get a feel for it. So whatever you do, don't just start off with real money if you don't understand how the game works. But it is your money, so.. you do you.

What kind of casinos are you hoping to try out? Go ahead and share the names, just in case someone from the community has something to say about mentioned casinos.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Casinos with Online and Offline version, Are they the same? on: November 17, 2023, 12:35:25 AM
I think the most disappointing thing about offline casinos is that they are trying to be offline but at the same time, digitized.

Let me explain what I mean with an example : you go into a casino in Las Vegas and sit down to play slots. Except the machine won't accept change or dollars, it only accepts pre-paid deposits on some BS membership card. Later you decide to try Blackjack, but you quickly learn that the Blackjack table is now a computer screen on a different machine. All this is very disappointing and different from how you remember the casino experience, even a decade ago.

You decide to go home and gamble on your own computer screen. The end.

At least, that is how I feel about the current state offline gambling casinos.
634  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Eure besten (oder schlechtesten) Bärenmarkt Durchhalteparolen on: November 16, 2023, 07:32:44 PM

635  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 16, 2023, 06:54:53 PM

Surely, I am NOT into the idea of moving coins for the mere sake of moving them because sometimes moving the coins might create security vulnerabilities.

I would argue that if you keep moving your coins from wallet to wallet, at some point sooner or later, you will most likely encounter a security problem or make a human mistake. The second one being more likely.
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 16, 2023, 06:51:25 PM
Whenever I am low on cash on the casino I play which includes a sport book I like to copy other people bets, usually parlays with odds over 1000 and I think to myself who cares if I play for example 50 bets copying other people with 200 IDR as my base bet,if any of these guys hits it big I will do to.Notice that I put 1000 as a minimum here but the reality is that I have been copying bets with over 700.000 as odds,I damn love these huge multipliers yet no one has got such one in sport betting.

Of course in here it is not about skill or luck games anymore but it is about destiny,so tell me how many of you are deceived by dreams that may change your destiny like I am  Grin?

Luck is a completely unrealistic concept which does not exist in our world. Otherwise we would be able to measure luck, just as we measure everything else that exists. Instead of luck, probability is the realistic, scientific term.

The probability of winning something can be calculated. Luck cannot.

But you could take advantage of people who think that they can summon luck, if you were a casino owner. Food for thought.
637  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there still hope for the price of BTC to hit back $69k this year? on: November 16, 2023, 02:45:00 PM
I doubt it will happen this year. There is only one month left, after all.

Although it will happen. The next time will probably be on the way to 100k. So I do not recommend thinking that 69k will be the limit for next time. Bitcoin is no longer a low liquidity asset which can be toyed around by a few millionaires. The volatility is not as drastic as it used to be. But that also means it takes longer for the price to reach new heights. Sad
638  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Spot trading or future trading which trading is best for beginers? on: November 16, 2023, 06:32:07 AM
I would not recommend futures trading to anyone, whether beginner or veteran. It is never worth it because the liquidation spreads are impossible to dodge forever. And it only takes one liquidation event for your whole wallet to go to 0.

If you trade on spot then at least you can hodl any bad trades as long as you like. You only lose when you sell.

But the best advice I can give you is to train using imaginary coins first, instead of real money. For a beginner its a better option because you will probably lose your money otherwise.
639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How discipline are you in managing your bankroll? on: November 16, 2023, 06:27:33 AM
Recently, I've had some issues with bankroll management. Although I've been gambling for years, sometimes I feel the urge to get more action because I'm not satisfied with my winnings. It's as if there's no tomorrow, and seizing the moment seems like the best option. However, whenever I become undisciplined, it usually doesn't end well. My realization is that no matter how good you are at choosing the right bets, without discipline in bankroll management, you'll still end up losing.

Could you please share some of your honest experiences here and how you became a disciplined gambler, particularly in managing your bankroll? What factors do you consider to be satisfied and to stick with the game plan all the time?

I do not think that anyone here can call themselves truly disciplined. I think of myself as disciplined but I have my moments of weakness. But there are things that you can do to ensure you do not gamble your money away foolishly. Cold storage of the daily gambling funds by a family member or trusted friend could perhaps help you out, if you feel like you would not be able to resist by yourself.
640  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid trading crypto in real person. You can see this now on Binance. on: November 16, 2023, 12:12:07 AM
This has just began on Binance and this is what will be happening on other exchanges.

We can see recently how robbers attacked bitcoin and other crypto users and this is becoming common. These are two recent ones:

Swedish Bitcoiners targeted by armed criminals
Binance Client Executives Kidnapped, Forced to Empty Crypto Wallet

You can now trade bitcoin and other crypto with other local traders on Binance and you will meet at a particular place that both of you talked about.

This is just not different from KYC if you trade with bad person. Avoid such physical trading.

The problem here is not that you should avoid trading crypto in real person but rather trade crypto in real in a place where you won't be dragged away against your will. Don't use your real name and don't give anyone info about yourself. Hire security if you have to.

AND

Do not flaunt your wealth. I cannot express how dumb a person would have to be to tell strangers about their millions of dollars worth of crypto. If someone threatens your life, then obviously chances are that you will give them your keys. So why give anyone the chance to know if you're worth stealing from?

I really don't get some people.
