681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and it effects on: November 03, 2023, 04:34:02 PM

Fast forward to yesterday when I go into a betting shop to see someone, I was shock to see some of my guys in the neighborhood which I knew they where doing well, now looking wreshed an tattered.

Perhaps something happened in the meantime while you were away from the gambling casino? Or maybe it was something else? I think that your perspective can really change after you enter a healthy world of no addiction. Looking at them, they probably would look the same to you in the eyes of your old self, but now you see them through mentally healthy eyes. That really can make you think about how people must have viewed you in the past when you were sitting there with them.

Good on you for choosing a healthier lifestyle!
682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting online courses? on: November 03, 2023, 04:14:08 PM
I just came across another topic about how to start betting on sports, and as I was reading and researching, I came across something that suggests considering taking online courses on sports betting, aside from reading books that provide in-depth knowledge and strategies to improve betting skills. Is it true that such offers are available on the Internet? Are there any free options?

I have tried betting on sports a few times, but I know there's a lot more I need to learn and understand. Has anyone here encountered such courses or have any knowledge about them?

I know I could search for this information, but I'd like to hear your answers or opinions directly. Thank you.

I think you do not really need a course for most people, sports betting needs to be learned and your strategy skills improved in the gambling community. In fact, community crowdsourcing of data is a good strategy in its own way. The basics can be easily googled, so you really do not need any special courses. But there are more than enough tutorials going around, all using the same teaching template. As someone in this topic already mentioned, it is always best to DYOR. And that is mainly gathered through past experience.

Instead of betting money you can make "virtual" bets and just write down what you would have betted. Test that out until you find your perfect gambling strategy.

Although personally, I would be too lazy to bother with the details so much. Gambling should not be work.

In celebration of 35k, I tapped my keg. It's my first time brewing beer, so
I made a really high gravity beer. Very smooth, like an amber Guinness
but with an Doppelbock alcohol level (~9%). Grin

684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not share your bitcoin holdings with everyone on: November 03, 2023, 12:10:13 AM
This advice should be just straightforward do not flaunt your wealth. If you use the search function you will see members have created this kind of threads and posts warning of this. It doesn’t only exposes you to the government eyes but also exposes both you and your family to dangers. Sadly this is one of the many bad things social media has introduced, many People mostly Gen Z flaunts themselves and don’t see it as breaching their own privacy.

Also many people have had this bad narrative that those involved in bitcoin investment are super rich people because they make profit everyday. So when news of you having them go out you are at a huge risk of getting kidnapped or killed for it

Well, the Bitcoiners who were smart enough to hodl became insanely rich, so that is where that stereotype comes from. If you can call it a stereotype in the first place?  Roll Eyes Tongue

I agree with you that people should not flaunt wealth. Anyone who flaunts their wealth deserves what he/she gets. That is something that is especially idiotic to do if one lives in a poor place.

Some people have absolutely no situational awareness. You see this in the westerners who fly to third world countries because in their imagination, they will somehow help or save the people living there. Or if they are even worse in character, they go there to exploit the third worlders. But the truth is that, in the end, they get themselves get exploited and abused.

Most likely some AI creation, but no matter...quite to the point.
Makes me think that very very soon we would not be able to distinguish.
Pretty sure entire text is made from A.I assistance. Bob's type of writing and grammar is usually different.

GPT4 and DALLE3 are hella fun, NGL...

Knowing it is AI text makes me not want to read it, though. It feels like a waste of my time.
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most you have ever lost in one session? on: November 02, 2023, 08:08:17 PM
What is the most money you have ever lost in one session? could be land base casino or crypto casino.

mine was $200,000 on Stake.com 2 weeks ago

This is ridiculous, loosing upto this amount is much, i don' think that I can afford to have something as big as this for gambling when am quite aware that i can loose everything at once if the game didn't come as expected, though there have been other bets that amount to higher figure than this, mine has been within the range of hundred dollars downwards because i don't use much money on gambling like that, be it land base casino or online gambling casino, i make sire to spend moderately base on what i can afford to loose.

Some people can throw away tens of millions without caring because they have such large wealth. To a Billionaire, a 200k bet is worth absolutely nothing. For us it would be like throwing away 2 dollars. Sure, its money but its not life-changing amounts or even amounts worth crying over.

I do suspect OP to be lying because he did not provide any proof. If he really did lose 200k on stake then he should have the proof to back that up. Otherwise its just bragging about something untrue.

Hard to say whether rich people have gambling problems, but they are only human...
687  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin help global refugees and migrants to relocate to new countries? on: November 02, 2023, 07:42:17 PM
The problem in relocation for most of these refugees is not money, but rather opportunity. And as long as the government does not give them the opportunity to relocate, there will not be any need for Bitcoin in securing transport/housing/living costs anyway. But if they have the opportunity, then Bitcoin is obviously the currency of choice to take with you. No bank middlemen who refuse to pay your money out, no third parties demanding any rules of you before you can transfer your funds to a different country and no fear that someone will rob you at gunpoint. Unless you brag about your Bitcoin holdings, but if you do that then you are just asking for it.
688  Economy / Gambling / Re: Omada Social Sports: Experience the thrill of sports betting on: November 02, 2023, 04:25:24 PM
I'm still on the fence about this, yeah it has been downloaded many times, but still it does not support crypto if I'm not mistaken. Plus it seems that most gamblers here haven't heard of this app before and obviously didn't used it.

As we love to play sports betting on our favorite casino and not rely on some apps. Definitely, there is a thrill for sports betting that's why millions of people around the word are betting on it. But until I saw some reputable members here giving a feedback or review with this apps, I wouldn't download it for now.

I tend not to trust any numbers given to me, so easily. There are waay to many fakers out there. Sure it could have been downloaded 1 million times by the same person. Or agency they could have hired to do it for them. After all, there are agencies that sell followers likes and shares on social media platforms, so it should not be out of question for the same to be true for the other platforms.

I too would rather trust it if I saw some reputable members from this forum give it a good review. Because at least the known members here are real.
689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: November 02, 2023, 02:51:38 PM
As a gambler, from when I leave the house down to the casino prior to getting there I normally project specific amount that should I probably hit am turning around to leave for home immediately. And am quite sure am ain't the only one who have for one  had this plan thought wrapped in his head, some persons might have too.

Just in case, what amount will be looking like a nice hit for you to leave a casino just immediately for maybe your first, second or third hit on the machine as you have just walked in?

Anything above 200% of what what I came in with (aka my planned gambling funds for the day) is good enough to take home. I feel like there is no point in trying to push your luck. If you get too cocky then you definitely will lose all your money, eventually, if you keep on gambling. That is just how probability works.

Although you lose money in the long term, as well.

But that does not matter to me because I do not see gambling as an income source. Frankly doing so would be very dangerous and could lead to gambling addiction very easily. People underestimate this.

Why the fuck is there so much drama in this place? It's like the toxic corner of bitcointalk. We should be celebrating the $35k.

You new here?

#cryptocurrency, it begs the question...how much overall data is out of sync on CMC for projects that refuse to pay these hostage fees? Data integrity issues are not a good look for #CMC considering accuracy is their product. Let's get this cleaned up!"

I would not be surprised if they do shady under-the-table business transactions, as well. If they do not get a hold on themselves soon, they will end up like ICObench. Their experts too started selling strange services in a way that was not ok. I guess thats why it does not exist anymore. You could buy positive reviews from their so-called "experts" on ICOs which turned out to be scams. They did not care as long as they got paid.

692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin looking like sleeping gigant in this bull run season on: November 01, 2023, 06:18:02 PM
Ltc looking like sleeping gigant the price is Under 100$ definately cheap now people mis buy ltc because no body dont want miss the opportunity some experts Even say that LTC can Do 300% gain from here.
i think it's LTC time now in this crypto bull run season

LTC has a reputation for unexpected pumps but unfortunately the LTC pumps are rare. LTC seems to be dwindling out of existence slowly but surely. Between being one of the top 20 popular crypto and steadily losing its fans, I think we should see something exciting happen to Litecoin soon. But it used to be top 10 and even top 5 on coinmarketcap before that. So what happened?

I think it lost its appeal since there are much better third gen crypto alternatives that can do everything and more that LTC can do.

And how often do you hear about Litecoin in the news? Not so often, it seems. Huh
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: November 01, 2023, 02:18:09 PM
Let's discuss the unique challenges of responsible gambling in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Crypto gambling can be fun, but it's important to keep our financial boundaries intact.

Share your tips and thoughts on staying responsible in this digital realm.

I think the best way to stay responsible and safe in the world of gambling is to have an average amount of human common sense. And just like with almost anything else, common sense usually is quite effective and keeps you out of trouble. But that only goes for people who actually listen to their common sense and not those people who ignore it and do the bad thing anyway.

In gambling, doing the bad thing anyway (because YOLO lol) is extremely common. Much more common than anywhere else, I would argue.
694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: November 01, 2023, 11:04:12 AM
Gambling is not bad after all but addiction is, gambling has been receiving a lot of negative reactions and feedback but gambling also has a lot of health benefits associated with it but you can only get these benefits if you are a responsible gambler and you have total control of what you wage and limit your bankroll

These are some of the benefits to see more of its benefits you can read the whole article here

Can you add more besides what's written in this article?

Surprising Health Benefits of Gambling

Screenshots from: finehomesandliving.com

Seems like a complete bullshit article written by a scam artist who sells crystals to middle-aged women.

Gambling may be many things but it improves mood and is supposed to be a stress reliever? Since when? If anything it does the complete opposite of that. Furthermore, how is it in any medically scientific way healthy for the brain? It completely jumbles up the brains chemicals and screws up dopamine sensitivity in your brain. That might not be a irreversible, fatal illness but it can do a lot of harm. I see no reason to write a gambling article on the supposed health benefits of gambling. In fact, it will do more harm than good to gullible readers who actually believe it.

695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever been a gambling addict? on: October 31, 2023, 05:19:59 PM
I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?

To be honest in the past I have spent a lot of money gambling. What I mean here is that I spent all my savings on gambling. Maybe the nominal amount is not that big but it makes me feel like a gambling addict. I spent 5 months of my savings on gambling. Currently I am aware and am in the stage of improving my own financial condition. Have you ever felt like a gambling addict? and how much did you lose in gambling?

Depends on what exactly your definition of a gambling addict even is. For some people, a gambling addict is someone who cannot stay still for a few hours without having to gamble. Or someone who spends his entire life in the casino, trying to catch that special high he felt the last time he had an amazing win. There are people who think think gambling once a month is a sign of addiction. Really, the addiction illness is different for everyone. Not everyone gets as easily addicted and not everyone gets as easily cured of their addiction.

All in all I think addiction is more of a spectrum. You need to know yourself in order to assess the risk of getting addicted. Or listen to a loved one that knows you.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETFs and the 401(k) Dilemma on: October 31, 2023, 04:18:39 PM
As a staunch supporter of Bitcoin (BTC), I engage in Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) on a monthly basis. With the looming introduction of BTC ETFs, what should regular 9-5 workers with employer-matched 401(k) plans do with their mandatory fiat-based savings? In a scenario where my company allows self-directed investments, should we take a high-risk, "You Only Live Once" (YOLO) approach and dive into the upcoming BTC ETF? While many anticipate a positive impact on BTC's value, the question remains: should we channel our obligatory retirement savings into this? Or should we consider a drastic move, withdrawing from our retirement funds to purchase BTC, witnessing the world's chaos unfold over the next two decades? Your insights are greatly appreciated.

The YOLO approach sounds like buying on FOMO. Thats emotional trading and I advise you to be careful.Sure, it looks like the ETF is a sure thing now, but anything could happen. Thats why we DCA, is it not? To divide up our risks? We do not put all our eggs into one basket, and I think it is only necessarily prudent to say that Bitcoin might be perhaps the one exception to that rule. Or at least it has been, based on its history. I expect great things of Bitcoin and I think the ETF pump will be a small blip in Bitcoins timeline.
697  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free Condolence Bonuses to Betnomi exit scam victims on: October 31, 2023, 12:17:07 PM
Kudos to Trustdice for making a humble contribution to the healing process of the scam victims!

Its not rare to see someone fall victim to an exit scam, especially in the realm of cryptocurrency. But one does rarely see anyone trying to help the victims out with their own money. I hope you guys gain some new gamblers from this bonus event. As one poster above me already mentioned, it is indeed a win/win situation both for your casino as well as the scam victims.

Hopefully this bonus event will serve as a reminder to other casinos, that gamblers are only human as well.
698  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: October 31, 2023, 01:01:35 AM
Many governments are moving to push hard to reduce sales of diesel and petrol cars, the European Parliament has officially approved a law banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the EU from 2035

Quote
The landmark law will require carmakers to cut down CO2 emissions by 100 percent.
The 100 percent cut in CO2 emissions from new cars sold would make it impossible to sell petrol or diesel-powered cars in the 27-country bloc. The law that comes into effect in phases that will require a 55 percent cut in CO2 emissions for new cars starting 2030, which is a much higher target in comparison to the current 37.5 percent.

Source ---> https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/auto/electric-cars/no-petrol/diesel-car-sales-by-2035-european-parliament-approves-ban/articleshow/97939363.cms

Some reports indicate that the costs of running an electric car are actually lower than the costs of running a car with an internal combustion engine.
So, will this goal be achieved by the year 2035? Will the cars be more efficient and at a good price compared to current prices, or is it a policy that may take decades?

Yeah, because everyone will either buy used fossil fuel cars or buy new electric cars that are refueled with electricity that was produced by burning fossil fuels. Unless we discover a different way to generate electricity, we will come to the conclusion that our energy demands outstrip our energy production. The discovery would have to be something amazing though, like cold fusion.

I mean you can try slapping a solar panel on your Tesla but it won't generate enough electricity in a day to move a car.

2035 seems optimistic. Especially with with all the undiscovered oil reserves. Who needs a life-nurturing environment when you can save money?

699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to value bitcoin and cryptocurrencies? on: October 31, 2023, 12:46:11 AM
Market Cap = Current Price x Circulating Supply

Price = Marketcap divided by Circulating supply.

If people buy more bitcoin, the market will increase, which is proportional to the price. Which means as people buy more bitcoin than selling it, the price will increase.

NO!

value is not market price

the best method is to look at the most cost efficient method of acquiring an asset.

for instance if it costs a gold miner $900 to mine. and thats the cheapest on planet, that is the value point
for instance if it costs a btc miner $24k to mine. and thats the cheapest on planet, that is the value point

value is not price..

think of value as the whole sale cost and the market as the retail price.
value is a different number to the market

bitcoin price(34k) sits nearish to good value(23k) compared to the ATH premium(70k)(2021 high)
  0     23  34          70
  ||||||||||||||||||||
               ^

gold price(2k) sits no where near value(900) compared to the ATH premium(2.2k)
  0        900       2  2.2k
  ||||||||||||||||||||
                        ^

use the cryptos most efficient and least efficient mining cot on the planet to work out value vs premium.. then see where the price sits
to see if if the price is in value or premium zone

2023 adjusted view of bitcoin shows there is potential premium window limit of $140k instead of 2021's $70k which puts bitcoin more into the greenzone. however we have not tested the upper limits. so playing it safe bitcoin has potential to reach 70k again meaning a 2x upside atleast.
where as gold is near its all time peak meaning not much upside

And with Bitcoin, we know for a fact that the cost of mining a single Bitcoin will go up up up. This means the value rises, but as Frank mentioned, market price is not the value. This is why looking at a speculated value instead of the price is the preferred perspective of hodlers.

There are way too many unknowable variables to define the speculational value at some future or even present time. All we know that Bitcoin is designed to become more scarce and the demand for Bitcoin is still strong, after all these years.

That seems like a projection which sparks confidence.
700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Profit And Conscience on: October 30, 2023, 05:24:41 PM
the agent wants to lease at a very good price and a share of the income of the lotto.

Exactly how much of a share are we talking about? And is it normal for someone to demand a share even though he already is profiting (I assume) off of the leasing? I am not too sure whether or not this is a good deal for the agent, but then again OP did not really give us any in-depth details. There might be a good reason why the agent is so eager to lease at such a disadvantage. Your friend should take his time on deciding and should not let anyone, especially the agent, rush him into a decision.

When something seems to appear more urgent than it really is, especially with a deal involved, then there is probably a well-thought-out purpose behind it.
