901  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you risking investment in other things? on: September 06, 2023, 04:47:26 AM
There is a halving coming next year to which many people who know and have bitcoins have set a target of the amount they hope to have in their holding by the time the bull run begins. I like to know if with this knowledge of bitcoin halving coming, if anyone is investing in anything other than bitcoins. I do not mean alt-coin but things like Real Estate, stocks, bonds etc. I know that Real Estate is good to invest in, but asides real estate, what else are you risking the money you should to invest more in bitcoins on?

It is always smart to diversify your money. As much as I love Bitcoin, I also invest in other things, but I still prefer the majority of my investments to be in Bitcoin. Everything else is kind of a side-investment, really. Basically I do somewhat put all my eggs in one basket. Roll Eyes I am still willing to bet most on Bitcoin knowing that some risks, intrinsic within traditional investments, can be avoided with Bitcoin.

Real Estate is obviously a meaningful investment, but as with any investment, it could fluctuate greatly in value and ultimately cost you too much money to maintain. So any investment always has risk at the core and there is always the risk of losing everything at any time.

902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Disruption In The Gambling Industry Your Opinion on: September 05, 2023, 07:53:58 PM
This topic is not about the recent hacking of Stake there is a dedicated topic about this

Stake.com Hot wallet robbed for 40Million + usd  (Confirmed by stake)

But it's more on the general opinion when top casinos are hacked

 - Do you think that big casinos can survive hacking because they have enough funds stored elsewhere

 - When they assured that users are safe do you believe it or is it just a way to keep their status in the industry intact

 - When top casinos are hacked and they still operate and still  into their business without interruption do you believe that

 - Top casinos should be our priority because small casinos cannot operate normally after the hacking.

 -  Do you believe that there will be more hacking after the top casinos?

 - Do you think gamblers will stop playing for the time being after this is all settled?

As long as its digital, it is hackable. There is no way around it. This is also mainly the reason why I prefer not to give any entity my KYC, if I can avoid it. Once that data gets stolen, you will be sweating bullets, wondering if somebody in the world is using your ID for neferious purposes- like taking a loan out in your name or commiting crimes in your name...

I doubt that this will make anyone stop playing on their platform. Especially because Stake has such a large following.

But that being said, at the very least, people should not store their money in centralized places. Like casinos or exchanges.
903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is KYC mandatory in CEX? on: September 05, 2023, 06:26:02 PM
Privacy is important when it comes to Cryptocurrency, so why do exchanges like Bitget require KYC (Know Your Customer) for all users, even those who only want to get airdrops? I thought KYC should be for those transacting many Bitcoins, Is it really necessary for everyone?

Its the law. Or rather it is simply the exchanges following government regulations so that in a legal case, they are not the ones held responsible. Because they could lose a lot of money and the owners might end up in prison if they were at fault for say, terrorist money laundering schemes. Which I imagine is one of the worst case scenarios but it is a life- and business ruining event. Obviously the exchange owners do not want that. They would rather keep doing business.

But the real reason why CEXes follow the regulations is because they are all centralized and the government knows who to hold responsible. I doubt the owners care about forcing people to do KYC or stopping certain countries from trading on their platforms.

I am not sure how many shits can be given about the 200-day moving average, but the same statement about closing higher than seems to be true in regards to the 200-week moving average too,

I think the 208-week MA is worth giving quite a few shits over. Always has. May it ever be so.

Aren't you coming out a swinging.

What's got the picnic bear all crumpling?

Market action. For once in recent memory, the (usually excessive) time spent here per iota of unique insight was worth the squeeze. To wit:

We upped.
I couldn't find causative news in the popular press.
Came here to see if anyone knew why.
Yes.
Courts slapped Gentsler.
I heard it here first.
Yay!

the WO was the Bitcoin news outlet for me back in the days, when there weren't any other actual (daily) news sources around yet

I would argue that WO has become a very efficient breaking-news aggregator.

I would like to say that I'm extremely happy that the amount of farmers decreased so significantly in the WO recently ...

Does someone know how this fantastic result was achieved?

Whoever did this, I would like to send you a huge THANK YOU for bringing us back this great experience  Kiss

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5464370.0

7 pages... I've read a bit of it when it started. Can someone give us a TL;DR?

People were tired of farming-bots so they asked Satoshi Nakamoto to shut them all down. Forum clean now. Thats all I got.

^I have no idea what this guy just said because I have him on ignore. I do not even need to view his post to know that it is definitely going to piss me off. I was so happy when I found out about all the dropped farming bots. I had hoped individuals like him would be gone too. I guess this one is not an AI bot, but rather a really dumb, edgy kid pretending to be an edgy adult on the internet.
906  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What does it take to play casino? on: September 04, 2023, 09:47:05 PM
It must have capital Cry

However, which one should you be more dependent on when it comes to making money from the casino!

Is it really good luck for you?
Which basic technique to use?

You might find it hard to discover a "lucky technique", as it seems to be an impossible concept. But I do use gambling techniques for money-loss risk reduction. Although the techniques all require a huge amount of self discipline, something that many people seem to lack and therefore keep losing all their gambling funds.

People need to understand that rather than hoping for a master strategy, casinos should be treated with the same respect as other addictive things. If you keep that in mind then you will discover that you make a lot less losses than before.
907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: September 04, 2023, 08:04:56 PM
People like those (me) who don't gamble for fun have this question to answer: how will you feel when you don't have money to stake a game that you predicted and better winning games you predicted played the way you predicted it and when you checked the winning was something that could have changed your life for ever if you didn't gambled again after such winning?

This question can be very tough to answer, but believe me, many people won't stop thinking of that if it happened to them, so I want to know your opinion about how you would feel if it happened to you.

If it happens to me, I can't stop thinking of it, but definitely one day I will stop thinking about it and see it as history or not yet, my time for big wins just like how it happened to me when I lost a bet that would have given me long-term smiles.

I would chalk it up to a mere coincidence and I would not let that affect my future gambling behaviors. Especially since I know that this could very well be an emotional trigger which makes my betting behavior become more risky. But in the end, it is like chasing a dream. Remember when you have a dream so good that you hope to dream it again some day? Sure you might dream it again someday but nobody can predict that. The question is; Should I really be gambling on whether a coincidence comes true again? Obviously the answer is no.
908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give Him a loan Or Partner With Him on: September 04, 2023, 07:00:06 PM
What would be the best option if a friend who happens to be good at horse racing lost his fortune coming from betting in horse racing because of illness and came to you and asked for a loan and honestly stated that he wants to use it betting in horse racing to recover his fortune.

But you have doubts because he is away betting horse racing for a long period of time and he might lose the money because you have to be updated on the conditions of the horses, jockeys, and the many handicaps, and his anxiety about recovering his fortune might fail he offers you two options loan him money or just partner with him.

What's your best course of action in this scenario?

A common friend confided this to me.

I can tell you right now that nobody trustworthy is going to lend your friend any money, especially after that red flag in which he stated that he wishes to use the lent money for gambling. Your friend is exhibiting extreme signs of gambling addiction and if he were truly your pal then you would try to convince him not to take out a loan. Especially from people who are actively seeking desperate people like him in order to offer him illegal/shady loans. Those same kind of people who would break a mans arms and legs and throw him into a river with concrete shoes. Loans for gambling always end badly.
909  Economy / Gambling / Re: Concept of Halal Casino on: September 04, 2023, 04:31:11 PM
This all seems very strange. I have seen so-called muslims attempting to justify haram actions, like drinking alcohol, through loopholes and with poetic wording. And it is obvious that they are not really holding themselves to their religion but are making excuses. But those kinds of "muslims" are rather rare. The promotion of a Halal Casino seems like a next step to that. Why anyone would waste time trying to market something to a specific audience which, in the majority, is not interested in that thing in the first place? Not only a counter productive failed marketing attempt but also an obvious attempt of trying to justify something that they should not be doing.

Even the smallest action has significance in this endless multiverse of ours. Travel back in time and you could profoundly change the future with tiny decisions. If you were to travel back in time millions of years ago and step on a bug, it could change the entire future of humanity. And the further back into the past you go, the bigger the future-changing impact becomes... So even a single insignificant ant will have significantly formed the future, billions of years from now, through his tiny actions.

Quantum theory suggests infinite probability. Going back in time changes nothing in the future.

You are traveling to a new universe that begins the moment you stop traveling through time.

The universe you travel to cannot have causal affect on the universe you came from, since you are no longer a part of the original universe.

Yeah, actually you are 100% correct. I got too dramatic and ignored reality. This is the issue with spiritual discussion... Peer-pressure drama. Grin TongueI blame the gays.

Edit: I was wrong only about the time travel part, not about the nature of entropy. Just wanted to point that out.

It turns out that religious people lie at least or maybe more than non-religious people do

I made this quote up 30 years ago and have been seeing it pop up around here and there.

"I don't want freedom of religion, I want Freedom FROM religion".

I always thought it would make a nice bumper sticker but was too lazy to do it. Smiley

It's a ritualized panic about death. Thats what it is, really. Panicked people do and say the craziest shit. I would be more terrified of the idea of there being a place in which I have to continue spending the rest of eternity, conscious. But then again, we know almost nothing about life and or even the universe. That lack of knowledge is our source of the discomfort about death, essentially.

It's tough to admit even to yourself that all you are and all you have worked and striven for will mean nothing in the end but if you can look at the scale large enough you will see that in the end nothing matters and with that knowledge comes freedom.

I would even go as far as to wager that each atom is something without which the universe could not exist if they were not where and what they were supposed to be. Everything in existence is working together towards the common goal of "keeping the game running".

913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Socialtournaments-A way to stop gambling addiction on: September 01, 2023, 08:46:39 PM
I don't know if many of you knows SocialTournaments where they hold free tournaments with different types, maximum multiplier, total points score and other related slot machines tournament, they are managed by Pragmatic Play provider and it is a way to invite people to gambling but I see it as an alternative to people who are addicted, they can stop the addiction as they offer enough daily, weekly and monthly tournaments to keep you entertained without you spending any money and if you are in luck and get the biggest multiplier or biggest score you even win real money to your account which you can withdraw to your crypto wallets.

I am in no way affiliated with them and you need big KYC,Proof of Address,National ID and Proof of Wallet to get your money.Do you think this platform can help people remove addiction,I think it can be a big boost to do so.

Your title is completely unrelated to a way to stop gambling addiction. If anything its a way to increase gambling addiction, since the website you are obviously trying to advertise has all the same things as gambling games do. And this might be counterproductive to people who have problems with gambling games. It could even mean relapsing someone who has not given in to his/her gambling addiction for years. All because he/she played a game which was eerily similar to the games he/she tried to avoid in the past.

I think advertising in such a way is a shameful practice. And I seriously doubt that you are in no way affiliated with the platform that you are trying to advertise. Your marketing team needs to rethink its strategy.
914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto betting on: September 01, 2023, 08:33:55 PM
since the OP is already here at the forum, he can easily distinguish some of these reputable casinos found in the forum. he can check the trust summary of each rep and see who has existing issues with their players. assess also the case, if it is the fault of the player or the bookie itself. sometimes there are complaints that are not valid.
this is the benefit of forum users as they can easily spot the reputable bookies as they will know if the bookie has unresolved valid cases. of course, you would avoid such site.
He should have been able to start finding a list of valid and trusted casinos from this forum and start trying them one by one to find one that suits him. We also have a list of casinos that are different from others because we are looking for casinos that can provide comfort in playing gambling, and that is why, once we have the list, we have to examine it more thoroughly to find the casino we are looking for.

We can't just follow other people's advice to play gambling at certain casinos because maybe they have found comfort in playing gambling. Meanwhile, those of us who don't have a list like them can only keep looking until we find it. And I'm sure they will find that trusted casino because many trusted casinos can satisfy their customers in this forum.
I don't think that one needs to try all the casino platforms one by one to find out which one is the best or which suits them the most. That is why reviews and feedback are taken from people who have already used those platforms so that another person can evaluate based on the reviews and feedback provided by the community and choose a platform based on that, and then if they don't like something after joining, they can change to another one.

Community feedback is one of the most important things one should consider before joining a platform because when you see multiple people rating a certain platform, you can have an idea how they actually are and you won't need to join the platform just to test it yourself since you will have to make a deposit for that as well.

Community feedback is one of the first criteria for choosing a casino which is fair, secure, not a scam as well as qualitatively fun. But the only way you are going to find out if a certain casino is right for you or not, is not going to be found out by sifting through feedback, but rather trying out the free test version of the games. I would recommend you read the terms and conditions carefully and if everything seems in order, then thats the point where you even start considering to play with real money on that gambling online casino platform.
915  Economy / Economics / Re: Crisis like 1930 it's impossible now we are use to with good life on: September 01, 2023, 08:01:31 PM
I don't know whether you are serious with what you are writing on the OP, but I think there are less than 10% of people who actually living those kind of life you are describing, the rest are just living a normal middle-class life. And moreover, the people who are right now enjoying luxurious life won't be affected as much as the middle and lower class if an economic crisis actually happen.

I think that it could be possible that OP does not have much experience with the middle class (or lower), judging from his way of writing. There do exist a small percentage of people who have never had to go through the experience of not being in the top class, and to them, they cannot imagine life any other way.

But I think we might perhaps be misunderstanding OP's meaning. Perhaps he means that with the passage of time, and the progress of technology, we now have access to things that were considered luxuries before and that each time we, humanity, progresses with technology, our lives become easier and we can now afford things that people in the past could not afford?

In such a case I would agree. No more dark-ages dentistry or using blood leeches as "medicine".  We won't have to revisit those days.
916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Colorado DMV now accepts cryptocurrency for online services. on: September 01, 2023, 07:47:22 PM
On Thursday the DMW announces it now accepts online cryptocurrency payment through PayPal as a measure to provide a wide and convenient service delivery to their customers.

Those customers who will be paying I'm cryptocurrency will have to do so through PayPal with a service fee of $1  plus 1.83% of  DMV total, asides PayPal fee that may apply for each transaction.

Source.

This is something that can be described as another adopters move as this innovative will attract interest of  more users to the bitcoin technology reducing their fears about the digital gold.

And isn't the first time the  Colorado state is taking such an outstanding decision, in 2022 they were the first state to accept cryptocurrency as payment of state taxes and fees.Click for more info.

Through Paypal? Oh cmon what? Lol.

Why would anyone think that making Bitcoin more centralised is the solution to the mind-set problem of "there is nobody to take the responsibility if things go wrong". Paypal is not needed, but on the good side, Paypal is in a way, making Bitcoin more adopted. So I guess all in all, its somewhat of a good thing rather than a bad thing.

But I just do not see Paypal in Bitcoin's future. At some point even Paypal will have to recognize the fact that it is a completely unnecessary third party in the payment solution. But for now everyone wins, I guess.

917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 01, 2023, 07:39:59 PM
What is the one behaviour you noticed in a gambler and  you dislike it? You don't need to have a reason for disliking it but you just do.

As for me I dislike when gamblers complain of their losses, meanwhile you hear them complain when they are getting winnings.

What about you, what do you dislike ?

The immature and aggressive gamblers are I think, somewhere on the top of the list of disliked gamblers in existence. And I think everyone here would probably agree with me on that, more or less. I personally hate gamblers who, when they lose, go all hulk-mode and start throwing a childish fit and try to explain their rage as if they were personally the ones who got tricked.

Some people need to grow up first, psychologically, before they even consider doing adult things like gambling. For people who cannot deal with their emotions, its like a time-bomb. Everyone knows themselves best.
918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over fiat and local banks on: September 01, 2023, 04:34:21 PM

One of my favorite aspects of Bitcoin is how its deflationary. There can never be more than 21 million Bitcoin in supply. But it is always possible for there to be less (forever lost wallets, for example).

I wouldn't say it is deflationary because deflation is not good for the economy of any country but bitcoin is completely limited supply which means no more or no less but most of the bitcoins lost in its early days and some stats shows it will be around 4 millions bitcoin and from now on it is less likely to happen to lose wallets because people know how much one bitcoin worth now.

The value of each Satoshi would only go upwards if the world adopted Bitcoin as a legal tender. Which it will. I cannot wait for that day.

As a crypto enthusiast, I would love to see countries accept Bitcoin as legal tender but I wish there should be any day as you expect because if you remember The Great Depression (1929-1933) which can collapse the economies of the country so this reason itself can be a cause for the fall of bitcoin.

Bitcoin is good and more decentralized than any other cryptocurrency but imagining it as the only currency used all over the world like thousands of transactions per second, bitcoin is not designed to handle such unless the government creates the infrastructure for that to happen with the L2 layer.

I believe that Bitcoin can handle the negative aspect of deflation, as deflation is only bad for the fiat system and anything that resembles it. Bitcoin on the other hand seems to be perfectly suited to turn deflation into a positive thing. While I completely agree that deflation can be worse than inflation if it is brought in through negative factors (lack of demand or a decrease in efficiency throughout the markets, this does not seem to pose a problem for Bitcoin as Bitcoin is being constantly updated, both technologically as well as economically. This insures an proportional increase in efficiency. And as you said, L2 layer is merely another addition to Bitcoin which proves an increase in efficiency is progressing.

What about the lack of demand? Well in a scenario of Bitcoin being a global legal tender, Bitcoin is government recognized money itself. Bitcoin is not a product or a service. So what lack of demand of money do you see? A decrease in demand? Sure. But Bitcoin that decrease is compensated by the incentive of profitable mining after the mining difficulty adjusts to the dropped hash rate.
919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over fiat and local banks on: September 01, 2023, 03:20:01 PM
Bitcoin is the new bank.

There is no point in trying to argue which banking or Bitcoin is better when Bitcoin is obviously the next-gen bank? Is that not its called "be your own bank?". For some people, it seems time to take that literally. Roll Eyes. Not much point in saying that here for any older Bitcoiners. Really thats just the message for newbie Bitcoiners.

920  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - Nov 15 on: September 01, 2023, 02:29:22 PM
Looks like Jerwin Ancajas by decision is the majority vote with over 52%, including my very own vote. But I while think its reasonable to believe this, I would love to know everyone else's opinion on why exactly they think a Jewin Ancajas by KO is much less likely. Is it because Takuma Inoue has only known to have been KO'd only once in his career, by Nordine Oubaali? Or is it because he has only lost once? Huh

Sure Takuma might be tough but a punch from Jerwin is no joke. I think the chance of a KO should be higher than the polls are currently reflecting. Not as high as a by decision but still quite much higher.

Jerwin was IBF junior bantam weight title holder and most of the opinion in this game was Jerwin. With your words already the fifty percentage of vote was crossed,so the percentage of vote was favour the Jerwin. The maximum KO was made by the young and efficient Jerwin as compared to the Japanese player Inoue. This match going to decide whether the Japanese player or Philippines  player to win this match. The power puncher Jerwin will face the hard puncher Inoue in this match. Most probably the match end before the complete of 5 rounds by the KO,this was the unique style of Jerwin in most of the match.

It is less likely that Jerwin Ancajas will score a knockout because Takuma Inoue is a smart boxer with very good stamina since nearly all of his fights went the distance. Takuma is not known to punch that hard reason why he only has 4 KOs in his 18 wins. And by the way, Takuma's only defeat was by decision and not by knockout so we shall see if Jerwin is capable of catching him clean.

I would like to see Jerwin becoming champion again but I actually voted for Takuma by decision. Jerwin is going to get schooled if he is not bringing something new to his technique.

Yes, we are going to support Jerwin here although he could be at a disadvantage because the fight is in Japan and he could lose to the judges scorecard. So what he needs to do is to win by knockout and he should try to do that and not let the judges score the fight.

The japanese culture, as well as boxxing culture is based on honor. I very much doubt that the judges would vote in favor of the japanese fighter just because he is japanese, if that is indeed what you are implying (I might be misunderstanding you?). So if they were to make such a vote, it would be very clear to the rest of the boxxing community and it would bring great dishonor upon them. Dishonor is something that the Japanese avoid at all costs. So I am feeling quite safe with the judges decisions.

Either way the fight will definitely be very interesting and hard-fought. And the score will probably reflect that.
