101  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re:  Fees are spiralling out of control due to halving. on: April 22, 2024, 11:50:04 PM
2024 has been the worst year in terms of fees paid on transactions. BRC-20 spam has hit the network hard over the past months with more Bitcoin users looking for ways to accelerate txs more than in previous years.
You're correct about fees and the BRC20 effect. Though all that have made Bitcoin usage difficult for small transactions, I like how something is being built on its ecosystem too. Yes, BRC20 tokens are memes on the chain and that goes to show how memes have made themselves a huge talking point in the current crypto narrative. We can't rule that out no matter how we despise them as worthless tokens.

Quote
The halving caused a spike in fees due to people trying to get into the halving block, but after almost 400 transactions, that's no longer an influence, this is the reality now which everyone is hoping wears off with time. But if it doesn't, there may need to be a tweak on the network to make Bitcoin usable for regular users again.
Fees will return to normal once the mempol is cleared up. The high fees won't remain forever. Late last year I had over three transactions of mine stay unconfirmed for more than three weeks. It got to that point where I lost hope they were ever going to confirm. I'm sure that would've scared any newbie in the space if it happened to them and they would've erroneously believed they had lost their Bitcoin.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best SocialFi (legit, no scam) on: April 22, 2024, 11:18:05 PM
Nice one, OP. SocialFi is a thing now and it's a good thing that social media handles are getting monetized for whatever interactions their owners do online. I think TikTok and YouTube should be applauded for providing this benefit before others caught the bug. However, I want to remind us that the Twitter (X) boss, Elon Musk, is breathing down heavily on those farming projects on his platform and banning accounts culpable for such. If you treasure your X account, you may want to keep it off farming projects on X.
103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where best to enjoy this forum... on: April 22, 2024, 06:53:54 PM
Nothing is complete in itself without its demerits. Maybe PCs and desktops will give better coverage than mobile phones but have we also compared the comfort and ease mobile phones afford us over computers? You can't have your cake and eat it. I can't remember accessing this forum more than twice on computer since I got registered about seven years ago, I'm a phone person. Apart from the demerit of having to zoom in and out with phone, I prefer using mobile phones to PC. It's way comfortable for me. I can do my reading and posting even while on transit but that won't be comfy for PC users on transit.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's in For Altcoins after the Halving? on: April 22, 2024, 06:29:54 PM
It has been a good ride for Bitcoin before then halving and now that it is done with, the momentum seems to have gone down, and as we all know, after the Bitcoin Rally, altcoins react to it.
The Bitcoin momentum hasn't even started let alone gone down. That push up we saw before halving wasn't a part of the expectation for this circle. Nobody expected Bitcoin would rally that high before halving. It was the first time Bitcoin broke its own record before a halving event. So, I won't count whatever dip we're experiencing now as momentum going down. Bitcoin is yet to start. Although I'm of the opinion, occasioned by historical data, that there's a dip coming after halving. We're yet to run into that dip now. On that, it will be a wise thing for anyone buying Bitcoin to be doing that on DCA so they can have more liquidity to get more quantity.

Quote
Do you think the rally of altcoins will start now or we should continue with our trades like nothing happened?
Nah! Alts rally is far from starting. Don't look at Bitcoin price to judge this thing. Rather, look at Bitcoin dominance to gauge it. Currently, the dominance of Bitcoin stands at over 50%. There's no way alts will push up when Bitcoin is at that level.
105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be confused, bitcoin halving doesn't translate into bitcoin All time high on: April 22, 2024, 04:23:53 PM
My advice
Don't buy bitcoin because you assume that bitcoin price will skyrocket after bitcoin halving, that is a wrong mentality that could lead to depressing results if that failed to happen.
Those who waited this far for halving before buying are already late to the party. Anyone who was already here a few months ago, should've known this. Hype for halving is often high but that doesn't translate to immediate price spike. However, it will eventually lead to a peak and a new ATH once the law of demand and supply come into play, that will all know. It takes a few months after halving for that to happen. Anyway, for those rushing to buy Bitcoin with the aim of a mouth watering ROI; they better look elsewhere into viable alts because Bitcoin has passed its prime where it turned a few dollars into millions. It's never going to happen again.
106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stay alert and keep suspect of when someone is helping you out of your wallet on: April 22, 2024, 02:58:33 PM
Your instinct was right to be on alert. So many weird stuff are happening in this crypto space. Most times those we call friends are even those who exploit our vulnerability.

...I was attentive to catch up any misconceptions of him sending me a wallet that's not mine and asked me to paste at the relevant place where I'm to direct my fund to because the process was so technical of copying and pasting of my wallets, going front and back.
Except he was taking you round in circles to get you confused, otherwise there's nothing confusing about copying and pasting of wallets. It's a simple process that doesn't require going forth and back. Anyway, it's soothing to read that you resolved the issue without turning a victim. I believe that smartness of yours can be attributed to knowledge gained on the forum. Keep it up.
107  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Price action strategies on TRADING on: April 22, 2024, 12:02:07 PM

I don't like missing out on these "ceiling"and "floor" types of setup. They're high probability trades. Such trades even when they revert and hit SL, the trader won't get hurt except they're over exposed and aren't maintaining money management.

When I started trading, I was busy chasing indicators, robots and other trading software in the bid to unlock the secret of trading, not knowing that "what I was looking for is in my pocket." I discovered this many years later, and I have never regretted being a price action trader today. Price action is simple and could act as a pattern to know the trend of the market and also acts as support and resistance.
We all did it and that formed a part of our trading experience. Maybe there are a few traders that didn't. Yes, hunting all those indis in search of a holy grail dragged us back a few years from being profitable because most of those indis are lagging indis. I've come to use most often leading indis of S&R, trendlines and Pivot Points in confluence with Price Action and candle patterns. To be honest, as simple and easy as PA looks, it's far better than all those confusing lines we draw on our charts just to make it look like we're sophisticated traders. The best way to trade successfully is to keep is simple.
108  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Illusion of Trading Success on: April 22, 2024, 09:24:25 AM
You'll see them on Instagram or WhatsApp posting many signals, doing adverts for their VIP exclusive signal groups. Their appearance of wealth has nothing to do with their profits from trading and trading performance but from their courses sold and YouTube ads.
I've a few of them like that I followed during my noob days in Forex Trading, several years ago. Even till date, I still look at what they're doing but not relying on what signals they dish out. I want to see how many of them are still there, trading. There was one I met on Facebook. Dude was always displaying winnings and acted like he didn't have losing streaks until he created a telegram group where he started making trade calls. His calls proved he wasn't what he claimed he was as most of them turned losses. I've come to realize that people like that mostly prey on the ignorance of newbies to make whatever material gains they display on social media.
109  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need Advice for Cheap Swapping on ETH on: April 21, 2024, 08:13:32 PM
The only thing is that the fees through uniswap are really high, which are like 150-170$ on a 60k swap from eth to usdt on both ways.
It's not a Uniswap thing. It's a general ETH issue. It doesn't matter where you're buying or swapping from, the fees are really crazy. This is the bane of ETH and I believe it's what's keeping it this low in price. Otherwise, ETH is supposed to be in strong contention with Bitcoin for market share. Sadly, it's not. Bitcoin still controls around 50.5% of the market share while ETH still battles with 15%.

Anyway, the trick I've used to get lower gas fees during swaps is to do it at midnight. Fees often drop during such time where I stay and that can be because of less traffic at such time.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying more of the Dip on: April 20, 2024, 05:49:15 PM
El Salvador is acquiring more Bitcoin by cashing in on the dip while the faint hearted are scared and selling off. Every dip now should be an opportunity for accumulation but only those with experience will understand this and utilize that space. The inexperienced will think buying Bitcoin as it dips is catching a falling knife. No, it's not. Before a major lift to the ceiling (Resistance), there's always that stoop to the floor to gather Support for the upward jump. That's what price does in trading.

Now that halving has taken place today, l want to believe there's going to be another round of dip before the ultimate spike we've all been waiting for to usher in the ATH for this circle.
111  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading with AI on: April 20, 2024, 04:15:48 PM
Be careful mate.
I think OP is trying to sell us that product and not that they're seeking solution or advice. I deduced that from their introductory post here. They could even be the creator of it or a part of a dev team of that project.

Talking about using Ai, I'm of the opinion that those who use it for trade execution expose themselves to greater risk than those who do their trading manually. Again, anyone who promises you a fixed profit on trading should be avoided. Most times (if not on all cases), it's a scam.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy 4th Bitcoin Halving on: April 20, 2024, 02:56:47 PM
Years rolled into months and months into days until it came to seconds and finally happened today, 3am Nigerian time. Wow! This is indeed,  celebratory for this community.

This is my second Bitcoin halving experience. I  slightly missed that of 2016. I believe this experience will be better than that of 2020, owing to the fact that a lot is already happening in the space. Many narratives are springing up around Bitcoin and all that's helping to reposition it. As for those thinking miners are likely going out of business because of the block reward, I don't think it will get to that point. There are now BRC20 tokens utilizing the chain and that will compensate for all that.
113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone is celebrating about the fourth halving but what is this? on: April 20, 2024, 12:39:36 PM
The increase in mempool looks Disappointing but I think it won't last long and may return to normal soon.
[/quote]
But of course, it won't get higher than that once the last minute rush of projects and individuals getting in their transactions into the Blockchain so they can list on the same day as halving ceases, everything will get back to normal. Two days ago,  I carried out a transaction when fee was 122Sats but I chose 12sats for it. It's still pending but I'm not worried about that. This noon, fee has gone up to 1209sats.

I know it's the several memes lining up on the Bitcoin chain that's causing this much traffic which has forced fees to skyrocket. While I don't like the sporadic hike in transaction fees occasioned by this recent development, I like the dynamism of devs in creating and minting tokens (shit tokens, may be) on the Bitcoin chain. It gives the whole crypto space a fresh feeling. Let's see where this takes the industry to. I'm excited not just because of the halving that happened a few hours ago but because of this new development of tokens getting deployed on Bitcoin chain.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will altcoins ever cheap again? on: April 20, 2024, 08:46:18 AM
Altcoins are become so expensive. People who keep waiting to buy altcoins with cheap price during Bitcoin halving, are disappointed cause market is still on up trend. Sometimes little dump is happening but market recovery also done so fastly. So what do you think? Will altcoins ever cheap again? Or you are buying overprice altcoins?
I don't know where you got all that info from but trust me they aren't accurate. There's no rally yet for altcoins. The market is still grappling with Bitcoin rally first. We get to see alts push up in price when Bitcoin dominance in the market drops. Right now, dominance of Bitcoin is still at 51% (that's still very high) with ETH as its closest rival at 15%. We need to see Bitcoin dominance drop to around 40% or so before alts can push through. Right now, prices of alts are still cheap. This should be an accumulation phase for alts lovers. For those looking for alts to buy, they should be evaluating alts that are a part of the ongoing narrative for the bull market. Check what the Ton ecosystem is doing. Check what the BRC20 (Bitcoin ecosystem) tokens and Runes are doing. Do your research and don't take my word as a financial advice. I just pointed out areas my searchlight is on too. For the first time in its circle, Bitcoin has tokens built on its ecosystem. That should interest any keen watcher of this industry, shouldn't it? That's what I'm saying.
115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fulfilling dreams with agriculture! on: April 19, 2024, 03:22:04 PM
If I deposit $100 or $120 worth of bitcoins per month from here, how much will it benefit me?
Only those who are close to you or on ground your vicinity can accurately respond to that. That's, if you meant putting that amount into the papaya stuff. They will be in a better position to evaluate the arable land and seed to be used for the investment. A good number of us are just online cheerleaders and may not even know what Papaya seeds are.

Is it right for me to invest more $ in Bitcoin than this? And should I invest the whole money in Bitcoin?
Those two questions are one in all. If you're asking random strangers to decide for you how to spend what you've sweated for, then you aren't ready to stomach challenges that come with investments. Again, remember the caveat in this industry – Never invest cash you will miss. That presupposes that no one should go into Bitcoin investment with their all. There should be reserved cash somewhere.

120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When you make mistakes, do not fail to take corrections. on: April 16, 2024, 10:28:28 PM
OP, to be sincere with you the mistake thing isn't restricted to ranks or that newbies are the ones who often fall into it. No, that isn't true for nobody is above mistakes as they say. The difference will lie in our responses and reactions when our mistakes (errors) are pointed out to us or when we find out ourselves. It's only egoistic ones who aren't remorseful or adjust to correction. Only one thing can birth that – ego, nothing.more.

We learn every passing day by adjusting to corrections as it's a part of that process to be better at what we do. Anyone who doesn't like taking corrections is easily on a path to destruction because pride goes before a fall.
