841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin always fight back on: October 02, 2023, 07:22:07 AM
even last year February when i was just a few month old in experience, when the Ukraine Russian war drove down the price of Bitcoin to 15k most people lost hope. people where saying all sorts of discouraging word about Bitcoin and the crypto industry, I still have faith, and Bitcoin proves me right, he rallies back without remorse.
Except something upstages Bitcoin during this incoming halving not to push it to a fresh ATH (like the disappointment we saw with Litecoin halving a few months ago), chances are still high that Bitcoin will continue to get new fans and price will continue to spike. In the past, that has been the path Bitcoin has been on – Bullish. Bitcoin is a phoenix. Anyone underrating as it's now isn't doing themselves any good. Buy now and wait for the spike to come.

one of the best gift we can give to our children as inheritance is to accormulate as much Bitcoin as possible, because after now, the value will be priceless.
I don't believe in that philosophy of accumulating wealth for generations unborn. It's this type of stuff that makes one pile up unnecessary pressure on oneself. Live life intentionally, and away from unnecessary anxiety. Before now, more than a decade ago, none of us knew there would be a tech as Bitcoin. What if our forebears had accumulated cowries or other types of monetary stuff for us several years ago and now Bitcoin is coming to seemingly displace them? What if in the next decade Bitcoin whittles away? What if it happens? Anything is possible in this industry.

I do write my responses in notes app mostly as I don't trust bitcointalk editor, sudden reload and your text gone. It pisses me off. Also, undo/redo functionality in text editors really handy.
Yes, that's enough to piss anyone off when we've our comments wiped off by sudden reload or refresh. However, such is preventable. All you've to do is use the Preview button (it's close to the Post button) as you type along. It saves it. It's like a "Control S or Control Save on a PC. Once your comment disappears before you post it, just check your "draft". Draft link is beneath the Preview tab. If you don't look closely you're likely to miss it.

You can of course apply to be a Merit source. It requires "some" patience though Wink
Thanks for the merit rain. Yes, I do get nudges to apply to be a merit source but the literary long wait for Godot isn't what my patience can carry. I wish theymos could attend to such issue speedily, so those accepted or rejected would know their fate and move on.

Once again, thanks.
844  Other / Meta / Re: best replies should appear first in a thread. on: October 01, 2023, 05:00:27 AM
But nuances arise. How to evaluate the usefulness of posts? Merit is not a 100% objective measure of usefulness. Especially in the hands of merit sources, who sometimes throw away merit in batches left and right, which casts doubt on the usefulness of certain posts.
Interestingly, the merit system has now formed a fulcrum for most campaign managers in getting members into their campaigns. To get high paying campaigns, members would go extra length to get loads of merit. I'm one of those who believe that the merit system is more subjective than objective and doesn't represent quality at all time (just like you noted too).

I wish I had some merit to splash on your comment. Again, another merit deserving post but I lack the ability to splash any on it and I believe there are others who would've done so too but lack merit.
845  Other / Meta / Re: Do you use 'All' option given next to topic links to read all comments in... on: September 30, 2023, 07:17:21 PM
The few times I tried using the "all" option, it took an unnecessary long time (by my estimation) to load coupled with the cloudflare verification I've to pass to prove I'm human to get through. That's unnecessary stress for me. I rather read page by page. However, I don't know if the cloudflare thing happens once a day if I used the "all" option or within certain hours after using it the first time in a day because there are a few time I've had to use it that it didn't pass me through that verification stress; just like now that I tried it several times within a few minutes.

Again, the "all" option would mean I'm more likely to miss a particular poster I may want to quote later as I may not remember on what page I read their post if I'm trying to recall. You know how you get to read through and then you suddenly remembered you want to react to what another user said in the midst of reading another user so as to yolk both comments in your post, right? That's it.
846  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another post cautioning you of influencers on: September 30, 2023, 06:32:05 PM
Now, I don't have anything on these guys, I'd do same in my signature, I wouldn't bother to research much about what I'm promoting as long as I'm having my payment.
I'm really flabbergasted that you could think that way as someone who has spent more than half a decade in this forum. Listen, how do you expect newbies to act if they aren't guarded by veterans against such inimical projects and Ponzi schemes when we support such because of what we stand to gain from them. If we keep such a liberal or nonchalant attitude towards businesses that are widely accused of scam, more will spring up and more people will fall victims. That won't help in anyway to instill the purported sanity we crave in this industry.

Talking about doing one's research, that's true. I also advise that but then I've come to figure out that not everyone knows the right place to look if they aren't prodded.
847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin really risky as they say? on: September 30, 2023, 03:46:50 PM

It is someone who invest all they have that will see bitcoin as being very risky...
Even having that type of investment mindset won't ordinarily be a problem if those investing are getting in at demand zone or POI (Point of Interest). If they do, they will instantly be on a winning trade and there won't be any need for that anxiety of losing all that's invested. If anyone is assured of investing $1k and getting instant reward, of course they would do it; even if it means selling their stuff to achieve that. Sadly, no genuine investment is like that.

...as for people who hold bitcoin and don't depend on bitcoin to make money so fast won't see bitcoin being risky.
These are the comfortable investors and most often they're the ones who benefit on the long run from hodling. Not many people think that way anymore as they see Bitcoin investment as a shortcut to wealth. Bitcoin isn't that, only Ponzi is.
848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why bitcoin has 21million supply on: September 30, 2023, 03:07:13 PM
OP, you may want to see (read in this case) Why 21 million bitcoins? Why was ~that~ number chosen? It's a thread made on June 15, 2015 on this same issue you seek. The question was answered there in less than 20 posts.
849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when you look at your first Bitcoin wallet? on: September 30, 2023, 08:35:04 AM
Just recently, I was tempted to check my first ever Bitcoin wallet to see what I have done in the past. I was so depressed seeing the volume of Bitcoin that have passed through my wallet without me saving a reasonable portion of it.
My first wallet was a throwaway paper wallet. That was in 2017. I can't remember using that wallet more than twice before I got rid of it because I didn't know how to restore it in case anything went wrong. I understand that feeling you shared here but mine wasn't that of depression. It was more of bewilderment for me. Bewilderment in the sense that I wondered what I did with all that Bitcoin that went through the second wallet I got which I used for quite a while. It was a Blockchain wallet. The few times I checked it and saw how big the figures in it were, I shuddered. The $40, $50 BTC there then had appreciated to $300 - $500. I know that's how today's price will also appreciate in the next few years to go and make many of us shudder.
850  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: chart reading and prediction on: September 28, 2023, 02:03:03 PM
everyone on twitter, insta reel and youtube is making prediction related to different cryptos based on chart lines. Do you still believe these chart reading?
Now is a safe time to make predictions to the upside. It's safe in the sense that we're in expectation of a bull rally occasioned by the incoming Bitcoin halving next year. Many influencers cum analysts are capitalising on this to put up figures. They will be right, eventually. It's not a bad thing to FOMO, just like it isn't to also FUD. However, one thing should be taken into cognizance and that's not to follow anyone's prediction blindly. Everyone should figure out what level they will exit after investing now. It's uptrend for Bitcoin. Don't be deterred by whatever dip you see now. It's minor price correction.
851  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: September 28, 2023, 11:46:20 AM
Do think people who read in a region with slim job opportunities are doing the right thing?
I think they will stand a better chance if they're on the same level playground without a higher power influencing for anyone without the same paper qualification. However, acquiring a skill is better than having a paper qualification. What paper qualification will do in an overwhelming unemployment situation is to give the holder a bragging right while the one who has a skill gets the job.

The more educated a person is, the more protected he is. Yes, it is probably difficult to get a well-paid job right away, but there is always a difference in who and what you can do. A person without education can be used in any direction, knowing that he will still not be able to stand up for himself since he is not educated.
What you've described is an ideal situation. Sadly, that's not the case in practical term. I may not know what's obtainable in real time abroad apart from what I watch on cable or read online about life in developed climes. If I judge by what is around me in Africa, I know it's way below. In Africa, apart from having the ability to read and write, most so called educated people aren't much different from their illiterate neighbours. I live in a country where educated people act worse during elections and religious activities (especially in church), with their view points disappointedly uninspiring and backward. I may lack the right expression for what I'm labouring to say here but the bottom line is that the whole "I'm educated" stuff thing shouldn't be taken at face value. Test people to know their ability. Most people who are scammed in my country aren't the illiterate ones but the greedy educated folks.
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see any value in move to earn crypto projects? on: September 26, 2023, 10:00:28 PM
There are some move to earn projects like stepn, stepapp etc . Do you see any value in them or it is just a death spiral?
To be sincere with you, I don't know what the heck projects are trying to create this day. I heard of Cassava yoo. It's a move to earn project too. It's my first time to hear of such innovation in this space. Perhaps it's another version of play to earn or something. It's tagged as an exercise app. Just move around to earn points. Just like that? The puzzle there for me is how does such a project pay someone for exercising when it shouldn't be the project's concern whether another exercises or not. How does a project benefit from someone moving around or exercising. I've checked the said project but it's not listed on coin sites. Yet people are struggling to be on the app.
853  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quality over Quantity on: September 26, 2023, 07:52:19 PM
I've seen very short and straight to the point post doing extremely  very well on the forum and people ought to them learn from  them.
Most users like to avoid writing such short posts for fear of being classified as one-liners. That's posters whose posts hardy cross two lines. Again, those who write lengthy posts most times do that to meet up word and character requirement for their signature campaigns. It's not as if their intention is didactic in anyway.

On the whole, I don't like reading lengthy posts except the posts are the OPs or the posters are good at making their narrative page turners.
854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 26, 2023, 06:36:42 PM
If I had release the payment because of the pressure of customer service in the exchange,  the money wouldn't have gotten to me, which the buyer will be nowhere to find to make complains to his bank . Beginners should never make mistakes to release no matter how long it takes for them to receive payment.  Hold on till everything is settled from both sides.
I think every exchange has a way of tracking a failed transaction on P2P. That's why exchanges discourage paying to a third party account so it can be very easy to trace in case anything goes awry. Besides, every merchant has a guaranteed deposit they make before they are authenticated. In the same light, there are warning posts littered on P2P platforms that sellers shouldn't release coins to buyers until they're certain the claimed payment has reflected in their account balance. No one should rely on SMS alert for bank transactions. I always take my time to crosscheck and if I don't get the cash in my account, I don't release coins. I don't allow emotions becloud my sense of judgment to the point of hastily releasing coins. Just of recent, I had a similar experience as yours. The buyer claimed he sent my money but I refused to release the coin. Within minutes, the buyer cancelled the deal. Once you're dealing with anyone online and they're trying to pressure you to part with something, know it's a scam.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving and inflation on: September 26, 2023, 05:05:57 PM
Bitcoin price is dependent on the supply and demand, with Bitcoin having, it means that the Bitcoin incoming supply is cut by half and in trading we all know that when the supply is lessen while the demand stay the same, it will make the price go up. Thus the value or price of Bitcoin will increase.
That's not what really happens. If it were, price won't ever slump after halving as we've seen it do after each ATH. If halving decreases supply, shouldn't it continue that way and price stays up? What drives Bitcoin price is sentiment. Most people believe that every halving year causes reward per block to decrease. There's FOMO around that event and so people get in the habit of longing to buy at all cost during the period. It's an expectation that increases buying pressure as people chase price up. This pressure soon dies off after halving.

Halving reduces supply.
Well, that will suffice while explaining it to a layman but in the practical reality that isn't what it's. It is the reward to block that reduces, not Bitcoin supply.

857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the feature of Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2023, 11:00:20 AM
What do you think about what is the feature of Bitcoin, can Bitcoin touch $50,000 in 2025? I think that Bitcoin will go to $50,000 but not in 2025, maybe in 2026.
I quite agree with you that we're likely to see Bitcoin at $50,000 (or less) in 2026 and that's because that's the year after it will have recorded its next ATH. Those of us who've been keenly following Bitcoin expect its next ATH that will surpass $120,000 in 2025 and then the expected descent will commence soon after that to usher in the bear moment. Your prediction of $50k in 2025 is way off the mark. The $50k you mentioned can even be surpassed before the end of 2023 to start with.
858  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does monitor size affect trading? on: September 26, 2023, 10:27:48 AM
Is this my opinion correct or is there no special effect that trading on big screen has?
Trading on a bigger screen has no effect on the outcome of the general market and where price is heading but it has on the experience of traders. Ordinarily, what a trader could miss viewing a setup on a small screen could be easily heightened or highlighted on a big screen. It's more so when one has to draw lines of support and resistance over a period of time to mark supply and demand zones. Bigger screens are for better trading experience, and every trader likes to have such an experience. Except for the constraints of cash in buying bigger screens, I ain't sure there's any trader who wouldn't want them. At least, have them at home as a rally point for consultation.

Dear mate I don't believe you should have recommended YouTube based on the OP's knowledge. I don't think this is something to explain to you; you know better than I do that there are very few people on YouTube who base their quality of knowledge on the truth and often promote things without reason. In the process of taking views, So, I can't agree with your point that getting knowledge on YouTube will be a better step to learning knowledge.
If you didn't jump into this from the middle of it, you would've seen where I made a clarification immediately another user drew my attention to that gaffe and I quickly adjusted to what I skipped with a relevant quote. Next time, try reading the whole gist before quoting someone so you don't misconstrue them.

Besides, on your honour, can you say you haven't ever gained knowledge from visiting YouTube? Can you? Yes, I know greenhorns need guidance on YouTube but it doesn't mean it's that demonic visiting it on one's own. What's needed is carefulness and focus, provided one knows what one's searching for. At the moment, I'm learning SMC on YouTube for free and the materials I've been getting are awesome. So, what's the hullabaloo for?
860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Has Changed My Life 👨‍💻 on: September 25, 2023, 10:21:38 PM
Congratulations OP on your profit made, to start with. I can feel the excitement but don't get carried away and begin to think you've got the whole trading stuff all figured out. The market is in an uptrend at the moment and it's easy getting profit from it. The $80 in profit you made within a few days won't be enough for you to conclude Bitcoin has changed your life. I don't think that's enough profit, anyway. Don't think I'm a kill-joy. I'm just giving you heads on. By the way, this topic belongs in Trading Discussion, not here. Move it there or ask moderators to do so for you.
