321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 50k is exciting on: February 13, 2024, 05:54:17 PM
Getting back to $50,000 is GREAT don't get me wrong, but it's funny how the euphoria I'm feeling right now is only like 5% of what I've felt the last time we went up to these levels. The last time I got up from my chair and started jumping with joy but right now I had a small smirk lmao.
I guess the reason you weren't that much excited is because of your past experience with this type of thing. At every circle, Bitcoin had been known to replace its previous ATH. We know the present ATH is around $69k. If the current price is at $50k, we know it's still short of that mark. We still have more $20k to cover to get any veteran really excited. Those who bought at $69k level wouldn't be excited though they now know it's just a matter of weeks before their entry price is hit. This won't be same for those who bought around the $22k region. We know.

Nonetheless, people shouldn't FOMO. I think there's a retracement coming, as expected.
322  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The harvest (Proof urself worthy to earn). on: February 13, 2024, 04:17:45 PM
when I started discussing my activities and involvement in the forum to some people around me about it, the next question is," how much have u earned", I was absolutely discourage as I remained mute till date. I was seen as a mentor until they got to realise that no pay until time "proves u worthy".
I wonder why they do that. To think that they're people you think you want to help makes it more embarrassing. You see them and think they need help financially only for you to approach them and realize they're very much comfortable in their ignorance and lack. I used to go out my way talking to people in my attempt to educating them on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies but would get a not too rosy responses. This day, I've lost that energy to do that, and gladly so.
323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason for acquiring bitcoins. on: February 13, 2024, 02:30:34 PM
It is majorly used now as an investment.100 years from now that utility would have changed as it evolves to changing times and new possibilities would have been explored.
Once that paradigm shift happens, trust Bitcoin to lose its allure. Whether we like to accept it or not, most of us hodling it are doing so because of the asset side of it and not as a means of payment. Bitcoin has since lost that right as a payment ease to newer tokens and coins because of its constant and unending congestion bottleneck and exorbitant fees. So, if the only thing Bitcoin becomes useful as in future becomes that, then it's going to become boring investing in it.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any upcoming gems like Celestia? on: February 13, 2024, 12:15:09 PM
2. As far as I've understood, you can stake it to be eligible for Celestia native airdrops as well as airdrops in upcoming projects like Eigenlayer, Stride, Pryzm, LightLink, Plume etc etc etc, essentially making TIA a golden goose for airdrop staking/farming.
That will be interesting, really. On what app or platform can that be staked? I would like to peep into that to see how liable such is.

Quote
Now, I don't think I'm gonna buy TIA now as it's value has gone through the roof with its current MC over 3B.
Well, while I wouldn't say your observation is wrong regarding that it has been stretched already in price and may not expand more, I think it's use-case should be factored in too. Look at its ATH of $20+ for a token whose max supply is infinite but with over one billion in supply already. Yet it did over $20+. It can still surpass its current ATH. Celestia is a good project.

Quote
My question, what new crypto projects would you recommend to buy in the coming months to get something similar to TIA?
Truth is that we don't know for certain a token that will do what multiples in ROI. We can only speculate and then take the risk. Even those that invested in Celestia didn't expect it would go this far in price. If you want a token to take a look at that can do similar to what TIA has done with staking and earning airdrops, you may want to check out Pyth Network. But first do your research to know about the project before investing in it.
325  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why are people getting scared to Trade on: February 13, 2024, 05:53:23 AM
Is it because these "people" are afraid to trade or they do not believe they can make money from trading? Don't get me wrong, I understand that this can also generate passive income, but what I'm curious about is whether these activities truly yield significant profits or not.
Yes, airdrops are like additional money. No one throws away extra cash and that's what those you're alluding to are doing. They're putting more effort into engaging in it now. I don't think it's because they're scared of trading. Again, you've to realize that chasing airdrops is time consuming as there are zealy tasks to be done on them to qualify for getting airdropped tokens. You don't want to be distracted trading on Futures while chasing airdrops. Only those who can manage their time very well can multitask on it. Well, if the trader decides to go on Spot trading that should be very easy; almost like on autopilot. Just buy Bitcoin at correction and leave it till last quarters on this year or first quarters of 2025 to take profit. That's a simple way of trading it. Shorting Bitcoin now, no matter the dump anyone foresees, can lead to losses. Stay away from shorting it.
326  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why we need to stay vigilant on: February 13, 2024, 04:46:10 AM
We have seen harsh regulatory policies on crypto service providers and most of them have tried to comply which makes me feel issues like this that could affect the growth and reputation of the crypto industry should be taking seriously rather than just issuing warning.
Regulations or not, scam activities won't go away as long as mankind exists. We've seen industries that are highly regulated but that hasn't stopped scam and fraudulent activites going on in them. It's there in the stock exchange. It's there in FX Trading. Scam is even there in religious circles. While I applaud the warning issued, I still believe the bulk of the prevention should come from the prey individuals involved. Many people are easily ruled by their own greed and that's why they easily fall to hyip (High Yield investment Programme). Anyone with the mindset of a quick return on their investment is prone to being a victim of scam.
327  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hey! it's $50k today. on: February 13, 2024, 03:41:39 AM
Frankly, I didn't expect the $50k this soon. I was speculating it would be in March or even April before halving date. Despite the crash from $47k+ after the ETF news, I wasn't moved a bit that Bitcoin would relapse into a dump. I saw that as a correction and an opportunity to redistribute Bitcoin. Those who didn't buy before the ETF had a great entry opportunity. Those who didn't also buy after the retracement will also have another opportunity again as I expect price correction from this $50k. Surely, there will be. I wouldn't rush to buy on FOMO now if I were an investor. Wait a while for price to dip a bit. Bitcoin is on an upward trajectory. Whether the ETF happened or not, Bitcoin would still have been on an upward move. It's the circle. Halving pushes Bitcoin price every circle. Newbies should take note of that. It relates with the basic law of demand and supply.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I believe this might be the Binance's new bitcoin - maybe a 1000$ per token on: February 12, 2024, 09:18:25 PM
~snipped~
...hoping that their coin will be bought by mistake. And that's exactly what the OP is trying to do.
Exactly! That's their game plan. This is why I will never add any token I'm buying on Pancakeswap and its ilks without using the token's CA (Contract Address). At least, I know that no project can use the CA of another. It's a shameful practice that people will deliberately hatch plans to scam others. Such is condemnable. Newbies should take note. We're going to see more of such as we progress into the bull rally proper.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: X-Cash on: February 12, 2024, 08:57:38 PM
You mean these one: https://coinmarketcap.com/id/currencies/x-cash/ ?

I also collect these coins from their airdrop stored in my paper wallet. Seem like these coin is dead last update tweet on 2022 and they never update again right now. Failed project I guess, to bad.
I think this X-cash ran a bounty here on this forum in 2018/19, or so. I can't be too sure any more if we're looking at the same project or not. Anyway, many of those projects back then went under and couldn't make any good showing. There are a good number of them I'm baghodling and wouldn't want to trash them yet. No one knows what direction this industry can take and the devs of those projects decide to list them, possibly to offload their own bags too. Early this month, I saw someone trying to provide liquidity for another supposedly defunct project – ONZ on Pancakeswap. If that liquidity becomes high to the point that the token will become tradable, hodlers will certainly have an opportunity to sell off their bags. I'm baghodling this token too.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I believe this might be the Binance's new bitcoin - maybe a 1000$ per token on: February 12, 2024, 07:52:17 PM
Since you named your coin after Satoshi Nakamoto, why did you make a mistake in writing the ticker? In which language will the name Satoshi have the spelling Satozhi? It's like you just want to get a hype by exploiting the image of Satoshi Nakamoto.
I don't know if it's just me being paranoia or careful, I tend to have instant disgust for any project that picks the name of a popular project for whatever they think is their reason. Such an action, for me, smacks of deceit. Once I smell a lie in any project, my antenna shoots out in protection of my emotional involvement in that project. OP using Satoshi and Binance to gain attraction for their project is going to be more of a backlash than patronage.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The best new cryptocurrencies to buy in 2024? on: February 12, 2024, 07:24:52 PM
While what I'm about to say here shouldn't be taken as a financial advice, from the feelings I'm getting I perceive there's going to be a surge in price of BRC20 tokens this bull run. I believe these ones will give a great ROI. Already, Ordinals has shown promising sign of that and I know many more of them with several zeroes in their price level will spike once Bitcoin hits a fresh ATH. I suspect investors will want to take out their gains in Bitcoin and make BRC20 investment the alternative just like what always happened in the past with alts after Bitcoin surge. For me, it's a risk worth taking. Anyone can check the BRC20 category on coin site and monitor that. DYOR.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you were Satoshi Nakamoto, what would you do? on: February 12, 2024, 05:25:55 PM

I have some questions for everyone: If you were Satoshi Nakamoto, what would you do?
          • Would you dare to appear in public?
Nope, I won't. I don't think Satoshi would ever do that, that's if he/they're still alive. I would lose the tremendous respect I've got for that entity if he/they were ever to make any public appearance.

          • Would you move 1M BTC and sell for USD?
I would sell a part of it to get a grooving life and to give myself a pat on the back for all those slaving years in the lab, cooking up what's now a phenomenal innovation.

Nope, what for? I don't see the need for that.

          • Wouldl you continue to stay anonymous and observe the development of Bitcoin?
That's the best thing to do, continue to remain anonymous.

          Of course, yes.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which hacks on Crypto projects do you know? on: February 12, 2024, 04:35:15 PM
What are the popular hacks you know, your opinion, and links to verify them.
You're asking the community to supply you links to verify any example of the hacks they will give? That's, if anyone actually finds out time to dig them up for you? Isn't that like trying to be entitled? Opening such a thread, is one of the easiest ways to make others begin to see you as a spammer or as a user who wants to be spoonfed. OP, the information you seek is right there at your finger tips. It's just a click away from you when you key in your query on your device. My suggestion to you, instead of opening threads to seek basic stuff you can readily get for yourself; why not utilize that time to ask questions on issues that will make others brainstorm on them? I think that will even benefit you more.
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nowhere is safe part3 on: February 12, 2024, 03:25:30 PM
The other one is Bitget; This exchange is upcoming and is really doing well when it comes to security.
I don't know what your experiences are with that exchange that warranted you giving it a thumbs up. In my books, there's a lot that I don't find funny there. Though I haven't been using it for a long time, I discovered that tokens which aren't listed in the coin market can find their way to that exchange. Yeah, those tokens may not be tradable but for the fact that they're enabled on that exchange leaves little to be desired. There's a particular token alleged to be a scam, it's an ongoing mining token that is allowed to be added there with a Contract Address. The only thing the exchange has done is to give out a "Suspicious Scam Token" warning if anyone tries to add or trade it. I thought as a Cex, tokens don't get added on the exchange if they haven't passed scrutiny. One can understand that if it were a Dex.
335  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What traders must know on: February 12, 2024, 02:01:16 PM
. patience: in trading patience is on of the skill required for you to be successful.
I was given to understand the place of patience as a virtue in this industry. I learned that to take trigger a trade one must wait for that candle and its timeframe one is watching to run out its full course and close. It has to close before one can execute a trade. Otherwise, there could be a last minute change in the bias of the market.

. learn how to control your emotions:
. learn fundamental & technical analysis:
Those three can't be overemphasized due to their importance in trading even if they're enumerated countless times. It's said that no matter how enticing and tempting you think your set-up is, don't over leverage on your position. That's true. Whenever we pick a trade we should always remember the place of market manipulation in it. We shouldn't leave anytime to chances. We ought to know how to safeguard our capital.

          Quote
. wait for the right set up: don't just trade because you want to, trade only when you see the right set up.
Pro traders will tell you that not trading is also trading. I quite agree with that because it retains one's capital. One of three things happens whenever a trade is triggered  – It's either it runs into profit or it goes into loss or it breaks even (BE). BE is when a trader is taken out at entry price so they don't incur any loss or make any profit.
336  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading or Long term on: February 12, 2024, 01:33:12 PM
So I have been trying to wrap my head around which is a better option, day trading crypto or buying for long term keep.
No one is better than the other. It all depends on the temperament of the trader. In this industry, both can make you money the same way they can lose you money. A better way to trade them is to develop a trading plan that reflects one's temperament. If one is impatient, day trading or even scalping will be better suited for one. If one has a day job, maybe an office work or one that takes one away from screen time, then swinging or position trading should be a better option. Don't base your trading on what others are trading or the way they trade. Develop your own plan based on what works for you. It's custom made that way.

Funny, though, how that sounds 😏
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do coins with no use case value so high in the Market? on: February 11, 2024, 11:52:14 PM
Marketing, that's all I think. 99% of memecoins are useless, but people are buying them for some reason.
Can you list the 1% exception you made then 😏 so the rest of the community can bag them?

Joking aside, yes I agree with you that what fuels projects and gives them unexpected push is hype. Hype comes from marketing. Besides, we've to factor in the place of backers of such projects. I've come to discover that any project with big VCs backing them easily do well because the financiers won't want their investments go down the drain. Take for instance, any project with backing from BinanceLab will easily get the attraction of the crypto community and that helps push demand for it.

I think traders don't see the real case of utility tokens as long as they see an opportunity then they will buy it, that's why one day there are tokens that rise very high then fall the next day.
Traders are different from investors. What causes cryptos to dump isn't the action of traders but investors. Whichever way a project goes, whether up or down, is immaterial to traders. They only need to position for the trend and profit from it. For investors, the trend must be upward for them to profit from it. Both are different.

Reading been an habit is by choice...
Of course, it's a choice one has to make but not when one is still a minor and dependent on one's parents. Again, is there anything that isn't by choice for adults?

This is also a good way to keep learning from the shared posts and experiences of other forum members since consistent reading will keep you updated in the forum.
Comprehensively, that's what being in school or getting an education is all about. We share in the knowledge others have (authored in books) or by word of mouth and we exchange our experiences and realities with those we come in contact with.

This is a section for general discussion about Bitcoin.
Nope, not really. Meta is a section of the forum that discusses happenings in the forum. It's not about Bitcoin per se.

          Quote
...must someone try to quiet my voice?
I ain't sure anyone would want to do that if you didn't infringe or break any rule in the forum. If your thread is locked, it could be that mods thought it redundant or off topic. You shouldn't take that to heart. Learn from it and move on. Again, one of the things you should learn first week of being here is that the forum doesn't tolerate anyone claiming to be Satoshi. Anything of such or similar to that is sacrilegious here.
