761  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buying at 35k? on: October 24, 2023, 05:47:47 PM
Hallo people,

I bought some bitcoin at 26/27/30 and 31k. all profit so far, I am thinking about buying more, but is 35k te expensive to buy bitcoin?
I wouldn't think that buying Bitcoin even till $100k is expensive because I expect it to go past that level with a fresh ATH that will come with the 2024 halving. However, I think you should allow it retrace and make a little correction before you buy. With that, you will be  buying at discounted rate. It has to drop to pick momentum again, given the way it skyrocketed yesterday and today. I expect price correction to take it to $30k to $31k.

I am not sure what you are trying to say here, you just repeated my words...
Yes, I reiterated your position there.
763  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ways to earn money in cryptocurrency? on: October 24, 2023, 04:21:37 PM
It would be a great help if any of you guys, would share some good ways to earn online money in BTC or in any token, not necessary to be from this forum but from other online platforms is also appreciate able, where we have to do some tasks (not surveys, they don't work here).
I once toed this line of question a few times and on one occasion a member made a suggestive comment that there was a forum like that but that it wasn't as reward structured, so to say, as this forum. From my observation, there doesn't seem to exist another crypto forum that can be placed side by side BTT. I guess the reason is that all of the others run bounties and reward their hunters in tokens that are in most cases not listed and worthless.

Quote
I know my question might be off-topic, or might not be liked by most members, but still, I thought to create it, because many members have a lot of information, that they can share.
You don't have to be unnecessarily hard on yourself or judgemental of others. Feel free to voice your thoughts on issues provided they don't impede the rights of others.
764  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Feature idea: give DT1 the ability to remove specific feedbacks from DT on: October 24, 2023, 01:49:22 PM
So here's a new suggestion: would it be possible to give DT1 the power to "downvote" certain (negative) feedbacks so they are no longer shown by default? That could potentially solve many of the current disputes that have been fought through negative feedback for many months.
That would be great to implement but a step further should be added so it doesn't get abused because of the so much drama that goes on here. My argument is consistent with when there's a deceased user who left such a tag. What happens next, then? What happens after they've left the tag and things suddenly change that disprove the reason for the tag in the first, what happens next where the said member can't be reached to remove the tag? Is the tagged member going to bear the indelible mark forever? Honestly, I'm in for a way that this type of tag can be removed.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What advice for businesses exploring crypto payment gateways? on: October 24, 2023, 10:32:48 AM
What advice would you give to fellow entrepreneurs considering this move? Share your insights and let's discuss the pros and cons of crypto payments for businesses.
It's a given that every modern business should adopt crypto option for payment just as they've for fiat. I believe every business has to move with the tide or be left behind. Anyone who's stuck on the old school way of doing business will sooner than later be affected by lack of patronage as their customers who are into cryptos are bound to move away from them and to those who accept cryptos.

The ease and convenience of paying for goods in cashless economy rather than handing over physical cash can be compared to the ease of paying with cryptos over cashless payment with fiat. People want what can give them less stress accomplishing. What matters to me (I believe for many others too) during transactions is ease and convenience. For that, any business that offers me that convenience becomes my regular.

– In addition, I can't remember the last time I made a physical deposit in a bank or a withdrawal inside a bank. That's fiat. Cryptos can do much more of what fiat is offering, even with ease.
766  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Importance of emotion while trading on: October 24, 2023, 08:53:28 AM
Emotion is very crucial in trading and that's what differentiates humans from bots or scripts. Whether we're winning or losing, there has to be a battle of controlling our emotion. Otherwise, it makes a mess of our psychology. While the winning part emotion brings us excitement and that feeling of "I've arrived" which makes many throw caution to the wind or the losing part that causes us anxiety and loss of confidence in our setups, both should be controlled to the nearest minimum. This is where professional and profitable traders tend to have that upper hand over amateurs. Pro-traders deaden their emotions while in trade; whether winning or losing. With that, they're able to have a clear head with things that happen on their charts while still in trade.
767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin? on: October 24, 2023, 06:44:27 AM
I would finish paying for my house

That would make me very happy  Grin
What you're worth in Bitcoin will be the deciding factor. If you aren't worth much, the astronomical increase in BTC price won't affect your fortune much. Everyone should know that. It's not enough to scream and clamour for bull rally if we don't have some set aside that we're hodling.

For me, my happiness is that once the rally begins it's not only Bitcoin that will feel the impact. Alts too will rally up. We've begun to see it these past few days. Today, Bitcoin zooms passed $35,000 and altcoins are beginning to smile too.
768  Other / Meta / Re: Most iconic erm... I mean most ridiculous topics from Off-topic board on: October 23, 2023, 08:20:54 PM
This one here...
That topic wasn't originally started in the Off-Topic section to show how awkward that's if we go by this user's suggestion 👇.

move your topic to the ""  off topic.  ""

Quote
As if the forum would shatter if they put more effort in their questions. Sad Who even gave the rule that most of these questions should be one line or one worded? Or is it reserved for stupid questions only?
😆 Your first line cracked me up. Maybe they're psychic like that and wouldn't want to do anything that could shatter the forum. You never can tell... On a serious note, many of those posting in Off-Topic are newbies who are lost about Bitcoin discussion and need time on the forum to catch up with the general flow. You know how we all started, right?

Quote
Instead of the board being littered with spam from account farmers, isn't there a way to just scrap it or maybe turn it to someplace useful?
You need to align this with what happens at the Altcoin Discussion board to be able to draw a conclusion and see if you won't rescind on your verdict. There's great spam happening at the Altcoin board, only that they don't come as one liners like Off Topic posts.
769  Other / Meta / Re: As A Bitcointalk Member on: October 23, 2023, 07:39:03 PM
I'd like to know because we do have members that have the title (if I should call it a title) PROMINENT dancing by their name, and I just wonder.
What have they done to own that title?
I'm not sure I've seen any member with that title, except you're trying to hint us that theymos is cooking up something in that regard.

Quote
Is it that they have contributed much on this Forum? What have they done or how can we tell what they have done?
Anyway, talking about prominence; I think there are a few members here who've shown cause to that effect by the way they've carried themselves and made relevant contributions in helping other users get it going. Some have proved their trustworthiness and dependability over the years. It takes a lot to get people online to trust you in an anonymous forum like this. If anyone is able to do that, then they can be called prominent. Again, there are those who've developed one software or the other to ensure that this forum runs smoothly. Some are old members while others are new who just got on board and went straight to work like the user who created the "OP" tag that appears on every topic starter.
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to invest or trade Bitcoin? on: October 23, 2023, 06:38:44 PM
OP, both are good. Doing any of the two (or both) will depend on you and your level of exposure to it (them). However, if you're a greenhorn in this industry I suggest you just buy and hodl. Don't trade, except you've got any trading skills (I doubt, anyway, if you've).
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how fascinating this story is... on: October 23, 2023, 05:56:18 PM
Kevin's (toasty) story is a very lengthy one but in all I suspect he truly was into something. Though he denied/isolated himself at a point from the hacker and claimed he was merely into trading and only profited from a failed system. If he wasn't into something fishy, why did he write MT Gox? I believe his conscience pricked him to text MT Fox on that to appease himself. From the comments on that thread, we could even read some of the users throwing shades at him.

Well, overall, the story is really fascinating and really a good one too, I hope Kevin will have access to those 643 BTC that he was able to withdraw from it.
Toasty said he already transferred the Bitcoin to a private wallet. So, he had access to it; except he mismanaged it later or his wallet got hacked.
772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone holds 1 bitcoin in 2023, can he call himself rich ? on: October 23, 2023, 03:55:18 PM
If someone holds 1 bitcoin in 2023, can he call himself rich ? If not, how many bitcoins holding is equal to being rich in your opinion ?
Being rich is relative. Again, we're yet to come to the end of 2023 to ascertain what amount per the price of Bitcoin you're looking at to guage who's rich or not. At the current price, Bitcoin is trading slightly above $30k. It wasn't so a few weeks ago. It can even go pass that a few weeks from now or relapse to the $20k region again. In my country, $30k is a substantial amount of money, and yes we can describe someone hodling one Bitcoin as rich in my country. This, of course, won't be the reality in other countries.
773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you prepare for a Bitcoin bull run? on: October 23, 2023, 01:07:41 PM
What do you think will be the new ATH, is $100k a very conservative estimate only? Or can it go  as high as $300kish....?
I think $300kish is excessively ambitious. I'm speculating anything slightly above $120k. Let's say $120k – $150k. Anything above that is a bonus but definitely I don't see it get to $300k. If that ever happens this coming bull rally, it will surely make the world go gaga and Bitcoin will expectedly have a troop of fresh admirers again like it did with the 2017 ATH.

Taking about getting ready for the next bull run, this has been said repeatedly. Those who aren't keeping Bitcoin/altcoins by the side will have themselves to blame when the rally begins properly.
774  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you were to unlearn something about BTC…. on: October 23, 2023, 12:03:08 PM
Have you ever felt having a good knowledge about a certain subject matter on Bitcoin only to start a conversion or thread on the topic and end up discovering the information had lots of mistakes and misconception.
Those are expected newbie errors and I can't begrudge them. Most of them won't know how to get on the search engine, let alone know where to search. Nonetheless, I still see some of the old members who are guilty of this same error.

Quote
How did you really feel about those subject matters and what was your approach towards the observation and correction made by other users on your thread.
As a newbie, I felt nothing. Now, I would feel embarrassed if it happens because I'm expected to first search through keywords to find out if such a topic had already been talked about here.

Quote
I will like to discuss this how long do you spend doing research for a particular topic before making your post or do you have a glimpse of the subject matter get a good summary of it and then start a conversation or quality research is done followed by reviews before engaging in  a conversation?
The duration to this thing isn't cast in stone. There isn't any specific time to it. Sometimes I spend a few days munching on an issue; the thought of whatever it's, and to make up my mind whether to put it up here or just bury the thought. You know, it's not everything that should make headline. Some things are better left in private than headline them in a public forum.
775  Economy / Reputation / Re: "Bitcointalk" is part of my family living life & my "Baby birthday celebration" on: October 23, 2023, 06:29:55 AM
And finally we became dependent on Bitcointalk.
That would mean that your wife also has an account here, right? That's good as we need more active participation from the female clan. Happy celebration and birthday congratulations on your daughter's birthday.

Quote
Last few months me and my family are completely dependent on bitcointalk.org, currently my family's only source of income is bitcointalk.org...
This should scare you to completely rely on this forum for sustenance. Why not consider other online income generating engagements so you can have additional sources of income? Even if you or your wife aren't down with offline businesses, you can try trading or writing and editing on sites offering them. You can also diversify your trading into Forex trading and Stocks. Anything away from this forum that can make you earn should be considered.
776  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance New Update and it Transaction IDs. on: October 22, 2023, 07:34:20 PM
I think this doesn't require both details at all times, today I tried sending btc using the Binance pay ID I was surprised to see that they didn't request for the last two digital of the receiver pay ID. Just that is requesting it only for the first time and after which the next transfer they don't asked for any ID to proceed payment.
In that case, it could be that Binance uses the ID to bind the account as a safety mechanism for first timers if it never gets to ask for it any further. That won't be any stress if that's the way.

Quote
However you can change your Binance app to lite instead of using Pro version and it mostly confused user who are not yet that familiarized with the new environment just as they did post update on their official Twitter (x) page.
Oh, maybe that's why I haven't got that issue then as I use the lite version of its app. Again, I think I'm better off not updating my app. I hate stress.
777  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance New Update and it Transaction IDs. on: October 22, 2023, 06:03:29 PM
The next step is the main reason why this thread is created. When you click continue, it will ask you to provide the last two digits of the Payee (receiver) ID, so you have to go and check the last two digits of Pay ID and type it in the box and continue. That is all. Many users of Binance are not aware of this and that is why I bring it here.
My brain is already swerving in trying to memorize all that instructions. I haven't made any transaction using the Binance ID. I simply use the regular channel, the old school way. Why go through a hassle and risk making a mistake just because I want to save a few sats in commission? I'm indifferent following through that right now but thanks for bringing such to the public domain. Maybe when the wildfire catches on, I might reconsider my old school pattern and join the bandwagon.
778  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Mr. Bitcoin is about to go down big." - Jim Cramer on: October 22, 2023, 04:56:25 PM
Just two days later bitcoin did the opposite and pumped like crazy.

Whenever Mr. Inverse Cramer opens his mouth about Mr. Bitcoin I know it is a great time to buy in big. Cheesy
Whatever he or anyone says about Bitcoin now should be taken with a pinch of salt. No one should be moved by any FUD that comes up because it can only be a strategy to dip the market by whales to buy back cheap. By the way, who the heck is Cramer?

It's possible Bitcoin holds a bullish stance for the rest of this year, I don't see anything changing that for now.
It should, of course. I don't see any other way for Bitcoin than to go north. The halving breeze should be in the air for the taking now and it's exciting investors, the market is also coming up lively once again. Nothing beats this feeling and expectation.
779  Other / Meta / Re: Why was the forum stats page disabled? on: October 22, 2023, 03:40:10 PM
This is what the forum stats page looked like.
You can see exactly how the page looked like here: http://archive.is/wxRDq
That's nostalgic, sincerely. That memory is coming back now to me. I'm reflecting on how that feature used to show areas one was posting in and what percentage of one's posts went into what section of the forum and all that. I'm sure campaign managers would've been using it were it still active now in their selection to sieve through applications in finding out were users are posting.

There was a massive DDOS in 2017 and things got a little better after Moving to Cloudflare.
Don't you think that's becoming often this day with BTT site going offline more rapidly?
780  Other / Meta / Re: Should Merit-Sources use feelings when giving out Merit? on: October 22, 2023, 01:14:03 PM
Hey! I was thinking of something this night, this thing about merits and the merit-sources. If you are a merit-source, should you always give away merit to good posts even if you dislike the user that created the post?
I've had a few instances where some members disagreed with my posts but still went ahead to merit them. I've also seen that happen with other members too. There are merit sources who are dispassionate about how they distribute their merit. To these dispassionate merit sources, they would rather consider the content and context of comments rather than the posters. So, don't sweat about that. Even if those you think you've issues with don't merit your posts, there will be others who will merit them. Just make constructive posts and leave whatever happens next to providence.
