the poll is reset.
feel free to vote whether you think bitcoin prices go up or down

Also, I give 2 BTC as a prize for the one who gives the most creative reason for his prediction in this thread here. Close this Sunday 23:59 CET

My prediction: DOWN

My reason: Fat Tay Choon went to the Mining Academy in Brazil, east of Satoshi's yurt, where Gavin was kidnapped by the CIA's goons and forced to pretend faking an anonymous decentralized biscuit—better than all the fish in the Pacific Ocean—but also to defray leeches intelligently with ECDSA fighting qubits for 16.8 dree12, or Phinnaeus must fling toilets towards psy‐ops, without potato smoothies mixed with fried chicken wings from BitMunchies.com, urbanchickennj.com, and Popeye's Bitcoin wallet, which deleted Satoshi's premine ability to cheer very victoriously, none like Butterfly Labs better enabled, but also Pirate crashing AIR applications without the express use of interest-free scams, conspiring with fraudulent sockpuppets and PPTs and..., you troll-herding piece of Shiitake mushroom, go lick Goat's horns until Theymos admits to having a quite erotic fetish involving honey badgers wearing thongs composed of soggy burlap waffles dangling from cosmic linoleum-based iphones

 Grin Grin Grin

I decided to give 2 awards:

1) I award smoothie for the best movie script :-)

Please send me your BTC address so that I can transfer the 2 BTC

My prediction: UP like crazy!

My reasons:
1) reward halving, is all priced in (the rise to 15, the plunge from 13 to 9.xx)
2) big players have recently accumulated a significant % of the bitcoins available on the market.
3) new goods/services offered in bitcoin will drive adoption to new levels
4) more adoption will lead to better & cheaper goods/services offered in bitcoin
5) #3 and #4 will continuously feed / benefit from each other.
6) News about the bitcoin economy thriving while all the worlds economy is going to shit, will create panic buying
7) April 27th 2013, the world is BUZZING with questions about exactly how bitcoin works
8 ) May 1st 1013, Banks put pressure on governments to shutdown bitcoin exchanges around the world.
9) banking scandals and secrets REVELED! Everyone on the face of the plant gets MAD  Angry
10) April 20th 1014 Bitcoin has successfully taken over!   Smiley

ops was i just suppose to only talk about the next 4 weeks? oh well.

2) The 2nd award goes to adamstgBit for the longterm outlook on bitcoin overall :-)

Please send me your BTC address so that I can transfer the 2 BTC.

To the others. THANK YOU and you can probably win next time as I will repeat this soon!

1007  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: November 22, 2012, 06:44:35 AM
To all Gigaminers:

Late yesterday I received an asset holder list from GLBSE. Per the email received, the list may grow some more so it may not be the final list.

This is good news as it means step one is near completion. I will be working with counsel later today and possibly into next week to finalize the next steps and to clarify what has to be done and why.

Best regards,
gigavps

Can you please share a simple guideline for people to get back their funds, that is also working for non-tech savy folks like me :-)
thanks

1011  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoins accumulation is at an all time high on: November 15, 2012, 10:10:40 PM
yes, single period indicators (i.e. one indicator value in a daily chart can change depending on the definition of the close. but I never only look at one indicator value, but trends in those indicators. and in that case, a 30, 50, 200 day trend of an indicator does not change much with one day's value up or down

1012  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoins accumulation is at an all time high on: November 15, 2012, 09:27:38 PM
can anyone explain how the "Accumulation / Distribution Index" indicator actually works?
Wikipedia can.

Basically, if the price is going up, there is accumulation in proportion to the trade volume. If the price is going down, there's distribution in proportion to trade volume. ....

This is true. Actually, I'd prefer to put it even more simlistic. Accumulation/Distribution measures, if you "make it out" rather to the upper end or to the lower end of each day's rate span. So, if someone dumps but the rest of the market sucks that in and drives the rate up again, then this event counts as positive (accumulation) on this scale. (Actually, the values are weighted by volume and summed up).

I'd prefer to keep it thus simplistic, because everything else is already interpretation. Even the terms "accumulation" and "distribution" imply some interpretation, which seems roughly sensible, but still remains an interpretation.

Another interesting aspect is that many of those TA indicators work based on trading periods, which are usually just days. In a 24/7 market like bitcoin, without nights and weekends, imposing such periods has always something arbitrary. For the curious ones: just use bitcoincharts and watch e.g. how the Negative Volume Indicator chart or even the Accummlation/Distribution chart changes when you use different accounting periods (day, hour, 15minute, 5 minutes).

In a classical, physical, localised market, a "trading day" was indeed a very tangible thing, and there was such a thing like a prevailing sentiment amongst all those people trading within a single room. And we shouldn't forget that the roots of many of the "classical" indicators are in this classical stock market setup.

trading day or not, the indicators are all still valid.

whatever the time frame is, it averages out those effects.

new newsletter just issued to subscribers, covering bitcoin, stock indices (US, Europe), and precious metals.

Here are a few examples of recent feedback on the bitcoinbullbear newsletters, ad hoc analyses and service:

"It's funny: almost every time you issue this weekly report, the market
moves significantly in some direction within minutes."

"I would like to thank you for your exceptional service and great deal of loyalty to your customers."

"I just wanted to send another thanks your way.
I've been subscribed for over half a year now.
The last few weeks, you've given the most actionable advice.
Specifically, you gave us the ability to act on trends as they were
happening, in an informed decision.
It's so refreshing to be able to have taken some funds out, and now be
positioned to add bitcoins to my account at a targeted buy!
Don't get me wrong, it's just fine when the market is marching solidly
upward and all we have to do is buy and hold...
...but when it gets really volatile like this, I've sure appreciated
your timely updates.  If this most recent idea pans out, your annual
subscription will have paid for itself many times over.
Thanks for stepping it up as the market has gotten turbulent - it's appreciated."

by the way, for the liquidation, is there a need to resubmit the claims or do they still have access to the submitted claims ?

this is a great comment.

and very positive. sometimes I feel that in the Bitcoin forum, the percentage of people being negative and complaining about everything is 80%. it should be the opposite.
people trying to see the positive and work jointly on ways to make it grow
