1021  Other / Meta / Re: Mods: Keep your opinions to yourself (split from BS&T Home thread) on: July 04, 2012, 05:29:08 PM
I never had a real opinion on Pirate and company, but this sure is making me wonder why they are so intent on silencing dissenters.

Oh and by the way, go fuck yourself, I'm not gonna censor myself just because I'm a mod.

I'm not asking you to sensor yourself, I'm asking you to separate your personal and professional opinions.  I'm glad to see you take such offense to that.  Roll Eyes
Being a mod is a profession?

Rules 29 and 30

Not being rude, but there's rules here? :p jkjk.

Also, what are you talking about? With rules 29 and 30?

$100 each shipped to FL $1300 for the lot.

$115 Each shipped to FL for 6 ($690)
Put it up to $125 each and you have a deal, I'll ship them tomorrow.
1024  Other / Meta / Re: Mods: Keep your opinions to yourself (split from BS&T Home thread) on: July 04, 2012, 03:06:49 PM
The only reason a moderator would deserve to be stripped of their title is if they were editing and deleting others' posts to support their position in a flamewar. In regards to psy, he doesn't even have mod capability in the board where the altercation took place, so this isn't even possible. In other words, please put your head back in online mode before responding.
1025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You are eligible for a free Yubikey! on: July 04, 2012, 03:02:37 PM
Does it actually protect you from key logger  ? Mine gets installed as HID device.. i would imagine key logger could see the output ? same as a keyboard ??

Alright, yubikey will protect my account in case a keylogger is running on my computer. Is that all? How about the security of gox android app?

The idea behind it is that each password it generates can only used one time.  Every time you press that button a new password is generated, and as long as the most recent one was used to log into Mt.Gox any old ones will be invalid.  Someone will need physical access to your yubikey to log into your account.

However if you like to play around with your new yubikey and watch it type random passwords in notepad, an attacker could use one of these passwords to log into your account.  Always make sure you log into your Mt.Gox account with the last password generated by your yubikey and do not generate any more yubikey passwords after you log in!

Good point. On a related note, how much ahead from the last used password does their server try going to match my input? If I use the otp once, log off, then generate a seqence of 15 OTPs offline, will gox keep going 16 times the next time I log in? Or does yubi broadcast a serial number with the OTP?
The Yubikey output contains the serial number, an OTP, an incrementing counter, and possibly some other things that I have forgotten. It is not time limited, so you could generate (say) 15 OTPs in a row from an offline computer, and record them on a bit of paper for later use, as long as they were used sequentially. This would work, but it would be tedious to type in every time.

Rules 29 and 30

Also I'm sure if you used escrow everything would be OK, but I don't like the idea of Ms. Jealous GF selling her ex's stuff like that. Just reconfigure it to mine for yourself, he'll figure out what's up pretty quick when the payouts stop coming to his wallet. Grin
1027  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 13 ATI 5870s with fans and shrouds removed on: July 04, 2012, 02:21:00 PM
100 is like 5850 prices...

Agreed. $145 isn't very far off when it comes to a fair price especially since it takes a whopping 3 minutes to get the fan on and running again... which leads me to a question:

Do the shroud and fan assemblies come with all the screws?
I have the screws in a pile, and I'm just putting them into the shrouds to be sure they are all there.
The fans all have their screws.
All screws are present and correct, for the plastic bits. 2 cards pending sale for $125 each with shipping.
1028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoincard.org on: July 04, 2012, 01:58:03 PM
Yeah it should have the option to turn the card off or at least the tracking off.  Yes simple cover sleeve to act as a Faraday cage would also be a good idea to protect the card.

Is a sleeve like that possible? I thought cages had to be grounded to be effective?
I dunno, but my US passport card came with a foil wrapper that they recommended be left on all the time while in my wallet, so presumably they know whether it should work or not.
1029  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty post ASIC? on: July 04, 2012, 01:53:37 PM
Making a Litecoin ASIC is possible, you just need to make it, go at a foundry, pay for the masks and everything (millions $$$) and then start making chip.

Why would you go out and make a Litecoin ASIC?

Scrypt (which is used by litecoin) is dominated by main memory speed, and modern day DRAMs already are one of the most cost-effective solutions you can buy anyways.
Because you can build a fast cache into a custom ASIC, and it would be far faster than just using commodity DRAM, no matter what way you sliced it.

So, you are selling the video cards ?  Sad, I was really hoping to see this completed one day. Backplane up for grabs ??
I wasn't thinking of selling it right away unless you were going to make a really great offer.
1031  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can we get a preemptive SCAMMER tag? on: July 04, 2012, 02:28:20 AM
We should make using escrow mandatory for all new members.
Plus Over Nine Thousand.
1032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: London, Paris, Rome on: July 04, 2012, 01:56:24 AM
So I'm going to London (4 days), Paris (3 days) & Rome (5 days) starting next Tuesday.  I'm American (in case it didn't show), so I'm asking are there any Bitcoin must see's that I should plan to visit?

Stop in to see all our good friends at the Bitcoin Consultancy and see how they are doing.
1033  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: EasyMiner - new version with Auto speed tuning on: July 04, 2012, 01:45:37 AM
For mine, it settled on the maximum speed, but later started throttling. However dropping it down one notch manually fixed that, but it probably would have been fine if my room wasn't so dang hot. It's been cooking lately because the A/C isn't keeping up too well.
1034  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: P2P e-mail? on: July 04, 2012, 01:43:58 AM
Do you mean like a distributed webmail kind of thing? That would be interesting. Otherwise, everyone running their own mail server on their PC would be a nightmare. How do you contact a server that could be anywhere in the world, and possibly not be on all the time?
1035  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC on: July 03, 2012, 10:15:06 PM
You're missing the point, ASIC's are good for bitcoin if bitcoin was perfect. But it needs to change and silicone doesn't change. You need to keep it in software until it can scale and is prooven. Going ASIC now is a poor choice. We're only at the beginning of crypto currencies.
Please describe the imperfections in Bitcoin that make this a bad idea.

I'm curious how you cooled the cards with the fans off? any pics?
Check my sig for the rig they came from. I used Delta PFC1212DE fans.
1038  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Slush vs Deepbit on: July 03, 2012, 08:18:17 PM
Wouldn't Slush be better then?

It's 2% Fee Prop and no PPS?
Proportional is only good if you are a hopper. Everyone else loses.
1039  Other / Meta / Re: Mods: Keep your opinions to yourself (split from BS&T Home thread) on: July 03, 2012, 08:16:44 PM
I don't require moderators to pledge an oath of neutrality in all forum discussions. Smiley Moderators will not censor themselves. I'll express my opinions freely, and I expect other moderators (and other members) to do the same.
+1, this is the way I would expect any moderator to act.
1040  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Membergroups; or: Why do some users get colored coins under their names? on: July 03, 2012, 08:08:26 PM
Now I'm curious as to what those secret subforums are, heh.
It's just a place where donors can conduct private trades, plan future businesses, reveal the latest scandals, spread gossip, and post photos that are much more interesting than the "count to 21 million with images" series.

On the other hand, just because we can, doesn't mean that we do Smiley
From what I hear, it is a graveyard there. However, it seems like a superb place to discuss things such as scammers where you don't want the whole forum to be able to read what's being said.
