1021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trust Will Kill Bitcoin on: July 17, 2014, 02:57:59 PM
But we haven't reached that point yet, we still have to trust each other, trust miners to not perform double spends and 51% attacks, trust the devs to come up with a solution in case something happens.
1022  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How to prevent Bitcoins being seized? on: July 17, 2014, 02:56:03 PM
All you have to do is make a BIP38 encrypted private key. They cannot decrypt it to take your bitcoins, and they cannot get the bitcoin address from it to look it up either.
1023  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling 2TH/s, 12 months contract. on: July 17, 2014, 02:53:36 PM
There is one offer on the table, 5.5 BTC.

Im almost 100% positive that this contract will return atleast 13-14btc during the next year.

No more want to offer?

Please help me guys, im in urgent need of help.

How do we know you wont cut the contract and disappear I heard this is the new kind of scam thats going on.

If you read the thread you'd understand that he's not the one providing the contract, it's CoinTerra.
1024  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin backed paper money (idea) on: July 17, 2014, 02:50:27 PM
But why back it with fiat, and not gold? Fiat is worthless and ever-inflating, and that Brock Pierce thing already made a realcoin that is backed by US dollars.
1025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie question about disconnecting node on: July 17, 2014, 02:48:50 PM
What happens to transactions when I close down my node?

Say I have 12 connections (8 in, 4 out) and I have to reboot my PC due to a kernel update or whatever.

If I close down my node at the exact time someone is using it for a 255kb BTC transaction then will their Tx just be rerouted through another node? Is their Tx interrupted or lost?

Does bitcoin-QT or bitcoind temporarily halt system shutdown while it clears any current TX's?

Just curious, really.  Smiley

The node initialing the tx should be connecting to 8+ other nodes, and so it shouldn't be a problem even if a few of them shut down at the "worst timing".

Yeah, it's basically like a huge expanding net, all connected to each other. If one fails, no problem, others have your tx, since your tx has already spread through the network.
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can you only buy with bitcoin? on: July 17, 2014, 02:47:52 PM
I think the best thing (company wise) that you can use to purchase stuff is overstock.com.

They pretty much have everything there so you can seriously purchase anything you want on their site for BTC.

Also Newegg is now on board too so you can get some pretty cool stuff there

You know, you can buy from them with Fiat too. Let's see when TigerDirect accepts Bitcoin, alongside Walmart.
1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt miners on: July 17, 2014, 02:44:33 PM
what is the best bang for your buck?  i'm thinking about building a modest Scrypt mining rig. newbie.

Wait for antminer to come out with scrypt ASIC, they are the best for ROI currently..

They would have to design their own chips that can be manufactured cheaply so that they can sell it to you cheaper. Being Bitmain doesn't mean you will ROI quickly.
1028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sad days for GPU mining on: July 17, 2014, 02:42:42 PM
If you were about to break even, you should be able to sell them to make profit. Or you could continue mining x11/x13 and all those new algos? They apparently use less power.
1029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gov't + Bitcoin Foundation = 25% of all Bitcoins confiscated? on: July 17, 2014, 02:40:16 PM
There are already a couple of alt clients, no one would adopt this new client, especially considering that less than 50% of the nodes are actually from the U.S.

All I see are centralized clients. Is there any Bitcoin-QT alternative local client as of yet ?

You can build it from source yourself if you have the know-how. It's basically Bitcoin Core and QT right now, although many exchanges use modified versions of them.

What do u mean by Bitcoin Core and QT ? Are not they same ?

Yes, it's the same, that why I said that. It's called Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin QT.
1030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can you only buy with bitcoin? on: July 17, 2014, 02:38:15 PM
I believe some mining gear can only be bought with BTC depending on who is selling it. Mining contracts, too.

And an obvious one is altcoins. Although some altcoins can be bought with LTC or DOGE.
but for litecoin to now only few are willing to accept for payment. because it drops quite dramatically and I do not understand why it could happen

Because it isn't that special now. Also, we need to change the question. What non-bitcoin-related things can you buy exclusively with Bitcoin?

1032  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can someone help me with a free iTunes/Apple ID? on: July 17, 2014, 02:30:47 PM
I can do this, but can you explain why you need one? You can make one for free yourself.
1033  Economy / Services / Re: Donation for 51% attack solution on: July 17, 2014, 02:28:47 PM
accepted by whom?

Core developers and solution implemented into official Bitcoin client.

Unless you get someone to hold the coins in escrow for you, this is just spam.

edit:

Actually to do this right:
- let others contribute (0.1 alone is not much)
- make a 2/3 multisig address for it (you, escrow e.g. DannyHamilton, dev e.g. gmaxwell)
- properly define: "solution"

So I need BTC addresses from DannyHamilto and gmaxwell?

No. You need to PM them, explain the situation, and say what you need escrow for. escrow.ms is also a good option.

No tienen derecho a hacer eso, a menos que tengas deudas, no las pagues y te denuncian.
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: fury gpu asic on: July 17, 2014, 02:21:46 PM
bitmain is good? they have s3? i thought antminer s3, not bitmain s3
what do i buy to mine vert and drak?

Ummm... Antminer is the series of products, manufactured by Bitmain. So it's AntMiner S3 by Bitmain. It's good, cheap, power efficient, standalone, but the downside is that you need to get a power supply for it.
To mine VertCoin or DarkCoin (if that's what you're asking), there are no ASICs. You can build a rig of GPUs to mine them if you'd like, but GPUs consume a lot of electricity.
1036  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LeaseRig.net Rent & Hire Scrypt(Jane/Nfactor)/SHA3/SHA256/X11 HashPower! on: July 17, 2014, 02:19:50 PM
Outdated pricing structure still a possibility while both competition sites use clear "per hour" system.

We will not be adding this consumer trick to LR anytime soon.  Multi-pools and calculators and ROI calcs use BTC per Unit of Hash per day (BTC/Mhs/Day) etc.  So you can use pool-picker.eu, name a multi-pool, bitcoinwisdom, etc.  To determine your mining profits as B/MH/Day.    The hourly pricing is a trick to confuse people by selling something using a pricing system not shared by the rest of the market.

Hour hourly prices are available on the hire page for anyone who allows 1 hour rentals.

If I'm wrong from a consumer view let me know but I get this from our customers who like to be able to see what their pool/mining pays out per hashing unit per day.

I think you got it. Most customers calculate how much they earn per day, and then they compare rigs to see if they are profitable. If you do it per hour, the customer would have to multiply it by 24, and that's a lot of hassle for them.
We might as well have a vote for everything, since it should represent opinions better.

1038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: fury gpu asic on: July 17, 2014, 02:12:57 PM
what is a agorithm i dont understand i new i ocnfused what is sha 265 and i dont know write scripts careful spelling

Please use google. An algorithm is an algorithm. Try reading the series of basic guides on CoinDesk. SHA-256 and scrypt (Yes, it's spelt with a Y) are coin algorithms, although there are many others. GPUs can mine all of them, while ASICs can only mine one.
so what i mine can? so my r9 280x is gpu, mine all, what block erupter, fury

Your Gridseed can mine both SHA-256 and scrypt, your block erupter USBs SHA-256, Your fury scrypt, your GPU anything.
Use sgminer, cgminer and bfgminer. Read tutorials.

ok thanks
should i buy butterfly labs they have good hardware 600

NO. Butterfly Labs is the worst ASIC manufacturer, they never ship on time and they mine with your hardware. They even bought a site for a 5 figure amount just to delete negative reviews.

but they have 600 is worth wait no

Do you mean 600GH/s? So what? Stuff like CoinTerra have 1TH/s+ machines (1000GH/S), there's the S3 from Bitmain, there's loads of other options, but never, ever, ever go for Butterfly Labs. In fact, go search "BFL" on UrbanDictionary.

hi Admin,

why i can just rent the rig for only one hour every time?

That is decided by each individual rig provider.

Keep getting error over and over again when doing auto rolling - been like this for a long long time now, will it ever be fixed?

Wrong thread, this is the PrimeDice Signature campaign thread, not the PrimeDice thread.
