1044  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: From IPO/ICO to STO on: January 08, 2019, 06:11:50 AM
I'm trying a slight variation on this with my Assured Coin. You deposit an asset into a pool, and your receive tokens to the value of the deposit. The value of the tokens is based on the aggregate value of the pool. Obviously asset deposits have to be agreed by the pool members to avoid the dumping of rubbish. Tokens are born or burnt based on the asset deposit/withdrawal activity.

Until you are not opening up for public/crowd funding, I do not think any STO/ICO rule will be applied to you. Anyways these are rule currently followed in USA, UK might have some other rules.

Speaking of the ICO, some of them applied KYC which might be hated even more by investors outside their country because of course besides the identity of the project also if the project was about a service that finally only ran within that country. Is KYC appropriate to be eliminated in the ICO?

Let speak, even ICO is legit  and have known team but did not it look stupid to provide the all the hard cap amount to them without any MVP available and they have all of your money without any responsibility towards you. This is fully on trust now with no checks. Are they can be held responsible for creating a bad product or failing to create the product?

The problem is that now the fake projects can and will start to claim that they are an STO, fully regulated and compliant to SEC protocols, make a legit looking website, create a fake team, compliance documents and continue collecting money until proven to be a scam.
Most of the ICO   either offering utility token and if they are offering security token then they exclude the US residents. Though I do not checked any STO that in US SEC website  but US SEC encourage to check in this link https://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html

I checked for https://www.icumulate.io/ ICO (utility token offering), they claimed that they are registered in Gibraltar but Gibraltar Financial Services Commission  replied as below.

Quote
iCumulate are not licenced or regulated by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission.

The GFSC does not currently regulate ICOs, however, the Gibraltar Government is planning on issuing Token Regulations in future. You will be able to find more information on this in the “Token Legislation plans: press release February 2018” PDF on our website at the following URL: http://www.fsc.gi/downloads?section=19&type=0

For future reference, you can find a list of authorised DLT Providers on our website at the following URL: http://www.fsc.gi/regulated-entities/dlt-providers-38

They were late in providing the response, icumulate.io already cancelled the ICO till then and I was not able to question them.

1045  Economy / Reputation / Re: Poll: is it OK to send merits to your own alts? on: January 07, 2019, 12:36:59 PM
Lol, 10% of the poll results choose "Yes". Have they entered their reason in this thread? Or they give irony reasons because they did it (sent merit to their alts) Grin

One of them did it (MikeMike). Not sure about the other "yes" votes. There is some reasoning on pages 2 and 3 but it kinda got drowned in off-topic nonsense.

Anybody can create sock puppets accounts to vote Yes or No. Every vote is counted equally no matter how intelligent or stupid you are.
It is sad that users have created so flawed logics or feigned ignorance just to suit themselves.
1046  Other / Beginners & Help / From IPO/ICO to STO on: January 07, 2019, 08:26:45 AM
Whenever the term investment come into discussion it is never complete until you are suggessted about buying stocks. Compare to the interests earned in the money , good stocks seems to outperform them. One of the method to acquire stock is to invest in IPO (Initial Public offering). In IPO , company offer its share to public in attempt to raise money for the company. Companies that raise funds from the route of IPO become public companies and they need to follow various govenment rules or more precisely they get regulated by the Securities board of their country.

With Bitcoin/Crypto currency come into picture,we saw a new kind of public fund raising that everybody in this forum knows about it known as ICO. Problem with ICO is that they are not regulated by any goverment agency, they are collecting public money even without disclosing their real identity. Most of these ICO scammed and forced government either to deem ICOs as illegal or find a way to regulate the ICOs.

In USA, SEC put definitive guidelines for running an ICO and many ICO classified as securities. Since securities cannot be offered as ICO a new concenpt of STO (Security Token Offering) come into picture. So when you are participating in a STO , you will have some sense of security that it is registered and regulated by government. (But still you need to check if the project is scam or not.)

Now coming to the end point how STO is different from IPO?
Investing in STO is much easier that IPO. STO will be a digital asset and being a digital asset it will be easier to invest and transfer them (as compared to holding the paper shares).
These digital assets can be marketed very easily wherever permitted by law without involving the traditional stock brokers and their commission  fees. Same will be applicable when you will be trying to disinvest.

PS: I am not giving any financial advice but just suggesting investing in STO is easier than IPO.

1048  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easy way to create workstations solely for processing crypto on: January 07, 2019, 05:32:20 AM
OP need to be more specific but my guess is OP is not looking for mining advice. I guess he specifically looking for wallet security.
Might be dedicated workstation where can put all of crypto.

I will suggest you to buy hardware wallet like trezor and nano. Keep most of your balance as cold wallet and only put some spare changes for daily expenditures.

The workstation that you will use for crypto , make sure you are not downloading any browser extensions/software etc until you are not 100% sure that are safe. Also use good antivirus on that workstation.
1049  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn't this merit thing getting more monopolistic politics? on: January 06, 2019, 07:18:36 PM
Merits help others to rank up, mostly everyone here is just to earn a side income, and for most of them, it's a living if they are in a signature campaign. Just to stop others from being promoted to higher ranks so as to reduce competition and keep it low (with the fear of losing their own position in that campaign as few may not be confident enough of their capabilities of remaining in the same), they try their best not to share their merits ahead.

If somebody is hoarding the sMerits due to fear of losing a position in sig campaign is stupid.  For any btc campaign there is always more number of participant available then number of spots. If they are posting shit then they are not going to be included in campaign. Only solution is to make themselves a better poster.
With so many merit source, they can not stop any deserving poster so better to improve themselves instead of hoarding their sMerit
1050  Other / Serious discussion / Re: It's just a game! on: January 06, 2019, 04:48:37 PM

We all might realize that it's very impractical for investing so much in virtual stuffs which gives you nothing but fun.

I do not know these online games are giving fun. I guess they are just giving us more anxiety and stress. You spend more because you are worried about that virtual world. It instantly become 24 hour addiction and you keep burning money.

I myself have hard time to get out from Game of war addiction.
1051  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF, Is it really needed? on: January 06, 2019, 04:15:42 PM
People don't seem to realise that ETFs are usually based on paper contracts, and this means they expand the apparently available amount of the asset. Bitcoin's value is based on scarcity, and the fact that only 21 million coins will be released. Just think of the effect on the price if ETFs add another 20 million "virtual" coins to the pool, and don't forget that their transfer will provide revenue for the banks, and not for the miners who are so important to the integrity of the Bitcoin economy.

I hope that ETFs never gain any approval, but they are such a valuable tool for banking control, that it is almost certain that they will be used for the benefit of the bankers.

I think , they need to  put bitcoin in reserve for creating that amount of ETF so that much amount of bitcoin will be removed from market, otherwise there is no difference in paper currency and bitcoin ETF

Going through this thread again and  realized that some  "ETFs are usually based on paper contracts" and ultimately there is no difference in paper currency and bitcoin ETF.

1052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ETF and Bakkt will have effect, but BTC halving is the main deal. on: January 06, 2019, 04:09:26 PM
I will definitely like to comment on ETF. My reading on ETF  always point that ETF might kill BTC.
Read this whole topic Bitcoin ETF, Is it really needed?. You have no idea how much negative effect of ETF can have in bitcoin economy.
1053  Economy / Services / Re: Accepting New Brand Managers Applications on: January 06, 2019, 02:51:48 PM

What is making you think that -ve trust is valid for your main account only not overall to you as a person?

This rule was not mentioned in OP earlier but now it has been added after mday applied.

Interesting twist of statement by you. Rule was already there before mday applied. Caroll136 only pointed that rule to mday.

I am aware of who you are and all your alts.
As I previously replied to your other account we are not taking Negative Trust or account with at least 6 months

Interesting. Any proofs or gut feeling?
1054  Economy / Reputation / Re: Poll: is it OK to send merits to your own alts? on: January 06, 2019, 04:31:44 AM
Few things are worth noting here.
1. Mike have no idea that it require  at least Jr.Member to post the picture.
2. He have no idea about Copper Membership too?
3. He have no idea about ethical use case of Merit.
4. Trying to involve mprep in trust issue, that moderator do not entertained.

So much ignorance here on mikemike part is worth noting.
Only honest part is open acknowledge of giving merit to the Corporate alt account.

Mikemike, you are tagged for your ignorance and I do not think you can blame suchmoon for that.

What you can do :
Try to ask suchmoon what your further action will help suchmoon to remove that trust instead of justifying a community frowned action.
Few options that I can think of (but you and suchmoon both need to agree)
1. Since 40 merits are abused, so you need to merit 40 current newbies for their good post, that are not discovered by others till now.
2. Acknowledging your ignorance and requesting Theymos to undo this transaction ( but I guess Theymos may not entertain you)
3. Might creating some good content in this forum from your personal experience and knowledge that we do not have discussed in this forum.
4. Any other idea that suchmoon proposes.

In short, you cannot blame suchmoon/anybody for your ignorance.
1055  Economy / Reputation / Re: Poll: is it OK to send merits to your own alts? on: January 05, 2019, 09:08:29 PM
I find my self very intelligent so all my merit should go to me.
Oh No! Theymos is not allowing me to self merit.

So I need to create the alt accounts and merit myself on that account.

But I'm being attacked for that opinion so I'd like to gauge community sentiment on this subject.

May be, because narcissism in increase while self-esteem is in decline.

Meriting Alts (claimed as friend's,wife ,husband, father, group of office colleagues) confuses the newbies how this shitpost get so much merit and defeat the real purpose of merit.

Some forum users standard are stooping too low. I do not think honesty is related to economic status (poor or rich) but thy cite their poorness as a reason for their dishonesty.

I recently come across a legendary, who merited (sent 87 merits) to his younger brother to make him Full member. Not only alts, I find this merit transaction also disgusting.

Should the abusers be banned?
Theymos is not at all interested in taking action against Merit abuse. Get them banned currently look distant dream

  Should we tag them red?
Feel free to tag then.

Or just wag the finger and be upset about it?
Keep reporting, Keep calm

Unfortunately, if someone is crafty enough, there isn't much we can do about it.
Very hard to catch crafty ones but few are openly gaming the system without any remorse.

1056  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/pasting) here. Calling for Mod action: please permban on: January 05, 2019, 04:25:15 PM
This first time  a saw a so confident plagiarist CryptopieceOfficial

Reported him First here, Unfortunately Mod deleted the topic without banning the user.

Suchmoon give the Second Proof here still he does not look banned in bpip.

Now  I am posting 3rd proof:
Hi All,

I come in peace.

Just a heads up... cryptomerchantbank.co are scamming people of their Bitcoin. Beware!

MODUS OPERANDI - INSIDE JOB

They drop the SSL connection and harvest login credentials from unsuspecting Bitcoin investors who have been lured to access create or access accounts

Unsuspecting investor finds 0.9 BTC balance in the account as a "gift"

Bitcoin investor tries to withdraw the gift Bitcoin and receives a message that they cannot withdraw less than 1 BTC - https://imgur.com/a/X2gX3OH

If they top up, and try to withdraw they get a message that the withdrawal was successful but receive no funds

Backend admins working closely with Scammers using Nigerian mobile phone numbers to whatsapp victims (e.g +2348154306200)

I hope these are enough evidence to nail him down.

1057  Other / Meta / Re: I seem to be finding some reasonable posts. on: January 05, 2019, 02:50:23 PM
I guess with current dip in BTC prize spammers lost interest in this forum or as well in crypto.
I guess number of post created also reduced. Only users who are interested in discussion and reading daily are posting in this forum.
1058  Other / Meta / Re: [ask] Account names very ironic. on: January 05, 2019, 02:36:47 PM
Apart from it forum allow you impersonate  any famous personalities without any check.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089660.msg

I guess forum do not care about account names, we believe in signed messages using BTC address as proof of authenticity.
1059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: God of winning be with all the gamblers in 2019. on: January 05, 2019, 02:25:04 PM
OP is conflicting itself. If God listen to OP and all gambler start winning then all casinos will be closed. Afterwards no gambler will win anything or in other word lose anything.

@OP, Are you praying to God to close all casino?
