1048  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: SELLING BTC FOR $1,000 GDMP on: September 16, 2013, 07:22:13 PM
i'm available till usually 7 or 8 pm (eastern US) for money paks

i don't -need- (anymore) btc so my rates are usually based off of coinbase's sale rate which at this moment is 125.05 per btc minus 15 cents per order and minus 1% of the total - i'll then subtract $10 from that total (4.95 to moneypak remainder to myself) - i buy with cash and can provide pre/post scratch off images with receipt if needed

you may get a better rate from someone who wants the btc not just selling it but it's an offer none the less

would subtract $20 - 9.90 to moneypak remainder to me

no escrow. could do it two smaller 500 deals if that makes you feel easier.

i don't like the idea of escrow where you say "it didn't work" how would i prove you were not the one to clear out a given moneypak code? i have done many paypal and moneypak deals in the past with no issues

The escrow checks the code before it is delivered.

1055  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tired of 140$ on: September 15, 2013, 02:46:27 PM
mt.gox is no longer a refence for bitcoin price.
We are currently at 130.7 usd / btc and we never reached 140 this month.

Did you make a typo?

Say's who? Coindesk? Bitstamp? BTC-E?

Quote
You are right, but what good is that? ya you can put bitcoins in and get bitcoins out but who cares? What good does that do you. People use an exchange to exchange

Some of us only put bitcoins in, and only take bitcoins out. If I see at $200 on gox and it drops to $100 at which point I buy back, I withdraw BTC, just like I deposited BTC.

That is what i do, i have never deposited usd or withdrawn usd from any exchange. I understand your point but it is not no good doing that on gox.

If you send to gox and sell off then when you buy back in it will be at a higher rate than market value. So you mine or buy coins and you sell them on gox for usd at a 10 percent mark up Sweet right? No because when you buy back in you will be buying back in at a 10 percent mark up and you have the added risk of dealing with an exchange that is on the ropes.
1056  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: (WTS) Paypal for BTC. on: September 15, 2013, 02:19:00 PM
Hello, I got 2.5 for sale. Make me an offer.

According to previous post, it is already done.

The Op is still looking we made the above trade for 3 coins that is all I had at the time.
1057  Other / Off-topic / Re: The case for paypal. Why do I use it. on: September 15, 2013, 02:10:46 PM
I agree.. so what does it all come down to? what is required?

TRUST!!!

But how do you know who to trust?

REPUTATION!!!

There is no better indicator of future behavior than past behavior.

Civilizations have forgot how to trade p2p they have relied on institutions for so long.

You do know that bitcoin allows for the purest form of p2p in a global setting. You have to still trust paypal and I can't trust a company that allows for it to take funds of people it doesn't agree with.

I have been selling on ebay for the last 6 or 7 years so ya I trust paypal. It is the person on the other end of the trade that worries me.
