1061  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Before contributing, learn from others as a newbie on: July 12, 2023, 01:04:31 PM

That culture wilm discourage many honest newbies from posting on the forum.
Actually the culture is changing and essense of forum is lost to some level cause most members forgot the purpose of forum and their only goal is to make quality posts meanwhile we to know the discussions, they just read the topic title and first post then go for creating their own posts which is one of the indication is they are pushing for sake of getting merits only. As a community, it's crucial to remind ourselves of the true purpose of the forum. It should serve as a hub for knowledge sharing, idea exchange, and constructive feedback..
1062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: July 12, 2023, 05:53:56 AM
Who do you think will win this Women's World Cup? Will it be the US again?
The defending champion US is likely the favorite team again to win in this time as well, whereas some of the sports analysts claim that team B needs to be watch out in this year cause there some of the popular individuals are there as well as some underdogs.

Well I am curious about the attention created by Women's FIFA is anywhere near to the Men's!
1063  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why don't we ban users like FmaTR on this forum? on: July 11, 2023, 02:54:21 PM

I don't remember anyone banned for a shilling. If there is conclusive evidence there to claim that person is creating reviews on his own by pretending to be someone then DT feedback is the only choice. Violating 24 bu,p rule hardly get the temp ban only if the person keeps doing it after previous warnings and deletions.
1064  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin Core as main wallet on: July 11, 2023, 12:22:02 PM
SPV wallets such as Electrum rely on trusted full nodes to verify transactions
There is nothing trusted about third-party Electrum servers. Anyone at all can spin up a server and open it up to the public. It is almost certain that many such servers belong to blockchain analysis companies which are using them to link addresses together, link wallets to IP addresses, and de-anonymize users as much as possible. You have to trust the servers you connect to not to feed you incorrect data, but I wouldn't say the servers are "trusted".

The only really safe way to run Electrum is by connecting it to your own server attached to your own node.

Connecting to such nodes may expose all our addresses to the server that we are connected in but that is why I said 'trusted' instead of 'safe and private'.  So it is suitable for anyone who stores a small amount of BTC but wants to have access to the keys . But for someone who seeks integrity for their data then their only choice is to connect their own node to their own server which pushes with no other option other than downloading entire blockchain data so they never have to rely on trusted/third party servers.
1065  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The wallet is not responding! on: July 11, 2023, 03:19:11 AM
Hello!  As for the screenshot, what's the point of doing it? Open your Electrum wallet and imagine that NO button in this window is pressed or responding. Generally! The window is just hanging! The balance is visible, the server light is green, everything looks fine. No keys, addresses, nothing to do - THE WINDOW IS HANGING!)  And it was also noticed that about 10 temporary files appeared in the folder for this particular wallet. And the total volume of the wallet is 78MB now.
As for the seed phrase, of course, everything is fine with it.
Electrum downloaded from the official website. Updated everywhere. Moreover, we restored the wallet on both Linux and Windows, on powerful laptops - USELESS! The electrum window just freezes.

I am sure that this problem is related to the synchronization so I guess you can keep waiting until the wallet syncs completely even if it takes a few hours and consolidate all the inputs into one or a few.

Did you try to restore the address on other wallets apart from electrum? As others mentioned you can go for bitcoin core but since you are talking about doing it on laptops then I suggest you to go with Running the node pruned so your wallet significantly reduces the storage space required to store the blockchain compared to a full node wallet.
1066  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin Core as main wallet on: July 11, 2023, 01:53:53 AM
Thanks for answers together,

I have Bitcoin Core installed on Windows 11.

I mostly run it with a node, running internet.

And no, i don't have big amount of Bitcoins, but i prefer using Bitcoin Core, because its been popular wallet since 2010

If you wish then you can but its not really necessary and recommended when you don't have much amount or not really expect the utmost privacy. SPV wallets such as Electrum rely on trusted full nodes to verify transactions and only store block headers, transaction history, and the user's private keys.

I request everyone to check the post history page if the page keep loading when you clicked post and most of the time your post will be available in the history.

I am also facing this cloudfare issue for more than 24 hours and some browsers can't even verify and stuck on that page itself so now using via chrome where the verification and posting process goes through without any error.
1068  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: July 09, 2023, 11:19:28 AM
I wish I could have posted this in a more better place but since the thoughts came from gambling addiction, I thought it wise to ask this question over here and I hope we can discuss and get this straight.

Just as the tittle already ask, I really want to know if people who are successful in gambling also seen as addicts because I believe  for one to be successful in gambling or whatever they choose to do, there must be some good amount  of time and effort invested in it as well as money and we know that a successful  gambler must have invested  both time, effort and even money to make any reasonable  winning  and these also are features of an addict as there are always excessive time spent on a betting site.

Now let's be sincere, will you also classify a successful gambler as an addict?
I assume you're mentioning successful gambler as someone who became rich by gambling alone. If that is right the society will not see them as addicts but celebrate them for how much lucky they are.

Addiction has nothing to do with the success, even when someone is doing great in gambling is obsessed with gambling and can't focus on others it's bad for them and success in such thing can change overnight so it's always good to stay neutral.
1069  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone Loan using My Account on: July 08, 2023, 10:46:18 PM
Here is the TRC20 USDT address which has been used to take the loan from shasan.

TRX Address: TReZah87Zxhfk7YZtYksQ2Z9fNiq7Z2PMB

shasan has accepted your loan request and sent the USDT to the above address. Then, you or the hacker has sent 999+ USDT to a different address in 3 transactions. The USDT was sent to this address

TRC20 - USDT address: TJjqnqEhWQ8oW9AUgQLwrtMCAxfbEwREeF

This address was posted by user mdgabrielzim whose loan request was declined by shasan one month ago. The user 'mdgabrielzim' had also deleted his post from the lending thread. I'm wondering what is the connection between the hacker and mdgabrielzim!
In this thread everyone forget to pick this, I hope this will give some clue about what happened to the account since its clear that address used to take loan is under control of hacker and made a transaction with one of the forum member. Either the hacker send the funds to his own addresses or used it for any service or deal among forum member.

So @mdgabrielzim can give some clarification about the incident which may find the way for further investigation.
1070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AI can hold a Bitcoin balance, send/receive Bitcoin. Worrying? on: July 08, 2023, 09:44:50 AM
Security and data privacy are the important concerns by letting AI tool to automate sending and receiving of cryptos. I won't trust any technology no matter how much trusted they are, allowing it to access our private keys is big concern and it voids the security so if the data from software leaks then your funds are at the risk.

linking an article that does not contain any evidence proving your story means nothing, how about posting actual evidence here on your thread to support your claim? Stunna responded to your post saying that your story is BS and just made up, do have any response to Stunna? this would be a great time to prove your claims.
This case got me thinking on why someone will just fabricate news from thin air against a reputable company. There are two possible reasons to this;
  • To ruin the reputation of the casino
  • To extort the gambling company
The number 2 reason is too frivolous. I mean, there is no how stake will pay anyone money they didn't win, despite the pressure from anyone and including legal bodies.
I don't think both may not be the reason here cause OP is interested in collecting donations by spreading fake accusations with the mercy of others which is literally not going to work anymore that's why even OP didn't try anything after posting this thread, probably he moved to create new article against new site.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I know it's a bit random on: July 07, 2023, 10:07:29 PM
but everytime after a block took too longer to be mined then the upcoming 2 or more blocks will be mined in next few minutes
Time taken for a block to me mined does not affect the time for the next block which is in line. It's not a case where if a block takes too long before being confirmed the next one will take a short time, it's just about how fast miners can solve the puzzle.
Technically there is no relevance for the time take between each block should be like that but as far as I witnessed since I am using Bitcoin most of the times the network behaved in that way which is why I mentioned it.

Here is the example

After the block 797669 the next 4 blocks were mined in the time interval of 18 minutes especially the first 2 in the 3 minutes.
1073  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: how to add one click withdrawal feature? on: July 07, 2023, 08:38:11 PM
like we play on gambling site and want to withdraw our crypto then we just need to type the amount we need to withdraw and click on "withdraw" button. then our withdrawal request get approved in a second, and goes directly to the blockchain.

my question is what is the process of withdrawal on most of the sites, which is so fast and without any double spending or issue like that?
Withdrawal request on most casinos and exchanges are approved in the batches so there is no such thing called the approval happens in a second. But we had some casinos with instant withdrawal feature which charge more fee and only process our transaction but they are the one sending funds to users so they won't be double spending them unless the site is scam.

The process of withdrawal as of now withdrawal -> wait for approval -> onchain transaction (needs enough confirmation) -> balance will credit on the receiving end.
1074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I know it's a bit random on: July 07, 2023, 06:13:37 PM
I know it's random and blocks are only found on average once every 10 minutes. And there is the conformation bias, but I am beginning to think I *do* have a superpower and it's the ability to stop blocks from being found.
Sent a 6 sat/vb transaction 40 minutes ago, seconds after the last block. And now....no blocks for 40+ minutes.

And 6 sat/vb is not going to happen for 4+ blocks.

Feels like every time I send a TX with *just enough* of a fee to probably make it into the next block.

Just a Friday complaint, back to your regularly scheduled forum reading.

-Dave
It happens to everyone though which will make a frustration for sure but everytime after a block took too longer to be mined then the upcoming 2 or more blocks will be mined in next few minutes so don't worry about this and to feel better always choose a fee that required for 0.8 or 0.6MB from the mempool to avoid this most of the times.
1075  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A little questioning on the lightning network co-operation. on: July 07, 2023, 05:08:05 PM
...I wanna try out the lightning network today -say, using bluewallet.io, how do I generate the deposit request first of all?? ...hold on a sec; does it actually creates ,stores and process transactions on a separate Blockchain? Or does it prioritize the action that miners avail themselves more to transactions coming through the lightning network on the mempool that 'em usual 6 confirmations??!
Secondly, do y'all have other suitable wallets to recommend? I mean something with a more simpler operational method? Yeah?
Thirdly, how big does 0.00028190 BTC seem to be on a 40 dollar tnx?is it  less on the lightning network?
Lastly, does every wallet supports the lightning Co-operation? Or is it made feasible to some preferred cold wallets?
P/S: are these part of the lightning network FAQ? Please, Redirect me if this questios have been answered already.
 Preciate y'all!

Sandra 🧑‍🦰

First of all you need to create the channel on the lightning network tab after creating the channel, you will have a deposit request generated. This request will include an invoice or a payment request that you can share with others to receive funds.

- The Lightning Network operates as a second layer solution on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. It doesn't create a separate blockchain but rather uses smart contracts to enable faster and cheaper transactions.

- The Lightning Network does not rely on the usual six confirmations that Bitcoin transactions require. Instead, it provides instant transactions by leveraging the payment channels established between participants.

- 0.00028190 BTC = 0.00028190 BTC the fiat value is determined by the exchange value at the time of conversion so if you want to make $40 transaction then use any site like preev to get the BTC value and then make transactions.
1076  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance existing Deposit Addresses to Be Retired in Q3 (July - September 2023) on: July 06, 2023, 07:22:59 PM
Didn't they get the memo on address reuse? I can't imagine using an exchange that doesn't give me a new deposit address each time!
Almost every centralized exchange is providing users with one address only for each coins for a while now so you can't use any exchange if you have that criteria. Grin
1077  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Is It Good For Local Crypto Forum To Include Other Interest To Attract More.. on: July 06, 2023, 05:23:11 PM
I would like to ask for apologies to everyone there's a misinterpretation and it's my fault I should have included that I am launching a local Cryptocurrency forum there's a misinterpretation of my post I should have included this, anyway got a few domain names and we are in the selection process.
Hopefully, we'll launch next month, will be using SMF but the theme will be customized to look local.

I think I should move this thread to the project development section.
Since you are talking about a new platform which has nothing to do with bitcointalk should be moved to appropriate section as you said project development section maybe a good fit.

Attracting users who doesn't have the interest of cryptocurrency will not bring long lasting traffic to the platform, it can act as initial boost but only people with actual niche to the platform will engage into discussions.
1078  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Who can you trust these days with cold storage hardware wallets? on: July 06, 2023, 07:50:33 AM
Multisig Wallets is one of the most secured layer to keep your funds safe which we call as cold storage however make sure that the source code is open source. Coinkite is one of the hardware wallet manufacturers and their coldcard is one of the most popular product among others cause it's truly airgapped and never have to connect to any device for signing in. So it can be preferred for our crypto assets however the security also depends on how we keep the keys safe with us.
1079  Other / Meta / Re: Self-moderated topics - nice feature or should it get banned? on: July 06, 2023, 03:13:22 AM

1- A Scammer can open up a self mod thread about his service and would be able to delete all the negative feedbacks which people may wrote about his service.

2- A person may be willing to enforce his own point of view in one of his self moderated threads and delete the replies which differ from his opinion and thoughts. This may lead to the one-sided view on any particular instance/topic.

Besides that i don't think there are any more disadvantages to Self Moderation threads.

1, You are talking about the service section right but removing self-moderation feature from the service board is like double-edged sword. Imagine a service thread is actively undergo spam attack and the creator of the thread wants to keep the thread clean from spam which can reduces a lot of reporting work, moderation work. But I strongly suggest to remove the self moderation from Marketplace where the option is only used to delete the actual words from victims.

2, Yeah but that is the point of self moderation and if everyone is against the content and OP keep deleting the words opposes it will no longer make replies so it will be buried into the pages. If I am not wrong in self moderated thread the creator can include his own rule too so if we don't agree with the content then simply choose to ignore it from engaging.
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kyc for accounts or wallets on: July 05, 2023, 08:14:03 PM
According to my Bitcoin understanding Bitcoin is an asset that should be owned by an owner anonymously  now my point here is Bitcoin investors especially newbies should be very careful with wallets and crypto accounts that requires kyc for verification most newbies may be shocked or confused but the reasons are for your safety
kyc puts you personal information and privacy at risk it also gives ability for your transactions to be monitored.
So please before making wallet registrations always read through terms and conditions as well as privacy policy
Or rather get a hard ware wallet especially if you have large amounts of Bitcoin or other crypto currencies

Part of the Bitcoin idea was anonymous identity of users
so as an asset owner you should support this notion
DON'T FORGET TO KEEP YOUR KEYS SAFE MATE!!
Your post confirms that still many people are not able to distinguish exchange accounts and wallets, you need to complete KYC for accessing an exchange whereas to create a wallet you don't need to provide any information, you can simply create your wallet and keep your private keys safe. So your privacy will be compensated only when you transfer funds from KYCed address to your wallet address since it will bring the connection between two and it will never be erased since every data on blockchain is available in a public ledger.

FYI, bitcoin is not really created to bring complete privacy while there are other cryptos has such characteristics but bitcoin is Pseudo anonymous.
