1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum pump and dump? on: March 11, 2016, 01:34:33 PM
There was also a big Ethereum transfer to Kraken (around 1.2 Million Eth) two days ago. There was a thread about the dump is comming but nothing has happened so far. It is a little strange that so many Eth have transfered to exchanges but they have not sold by now  Roll Eyes Will there come a coordinated sale event soon? What do you think?

1.2 million of Ethereum has been abosorbed by the market. So the price did not drop and in fact rose. Yesterday's drop is just a correction.

1.2 million Ethereum isn't necessarily a lot if the market is big enough. If even a small fraction of stock traders were to get interested in Ethereum, and further suppose they bought the minimum rumored PoS staking amount of 1500 Eth, you would only need to get 1,000 people interested to sell 1.5 million. While this may sound like a lot, it would be a minuscule fraction of the amount of money tossed around each day in the world's stock markets. And this is just assuming the minimum investment, I am sure many traders would be interested in far larger "lot" sizes if they are looking to get involved.
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ETHEREUM] [POOL] https://ETH.suprnova.cc 0% fee, 20 % BONUS per Block ! // on: March 11, 2016, 01:19:34 PM
Is there a way to turn off the ringer when on the dashboard Huh

It over rides all other stuff I got going on,TS,games,etc...

Thanks!!

There is a little icon down near the bottom right of the dashboard page you can click to temporarily disable the sound. Unfortunately if you leave the page and come back, or if you refresh the page, it seems to re-enable itself.

I would also like to see if there could be a option added to disable this "feature" permanently, as it is quite annoying, especially with quick block coins like Ethereum.
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ETHEREUM] [POOL] https://ETH.suprnova.cc 0% fee, 20 % BONUS per Block ! // on: March 11, 2016, 01:14:51 PM
I've updated eth-us.suprnova.cc and eth-mine.suprnova.cc to new versions and also improved performance quite a lot, there shouldn't be any timeouts or "JSON RPC error.." anymore.

Sadly I need to report that this is still occurring. I am using eth-us.suprnova.cc and had a spat of them this morning. I can tell because one of the miner closest to my desk is pointed to your pool and the fans quiet down a bit every time they lose connectivity. I checked the console while this was happening and seen the json messages and actually hopped on this thread to see if anything was going on.
1104  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex & maker-taker fees on: March 11, 2016, 12:40:33 PM
I think it is pretty much a good sign, meaning they are counting on the increased volume to make up for the slightly lower fees made off of big traders. Most trades are probably skimming the waves and only making a small percentage off each individual trade, therefore lowering the fees for this type of trading will encourage more people to participate. This way someone can provide more liquidity to the market, because they do not have to wait until their position moves x percent to cover fees before making a trade, they can trade more frequently.
1105  Economy / Speculation / Re: You know what happened last time when money supply got slashed in half on: March 09, 2016, 04:37:33 AM
I'll include it anyway for good measure. I even drew the block 210,000 line this time to put this in perspective.

1106  Economy / Speculation / Re: You know what happened last time when money supply got slashed in half on: March 09, 2016, 04:29:34 AM

Yes, and if you expand the first chart to include a couple of more months we get an even better idea of what to expect:

We haven't been back to $12 since. And if I would have expanded even further out to November 2013, we all know what happened then.

1107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Faster Mist Wallet Sync? on: March 07, 2016, 10:57:29 PM
Sorry I cannot help you as I use the geth CLI. That too takes time to sync.

I have tried Geth as well but I am facing the same issues as you mate. If there were something similar like a bootstrap.dat (like in Bitcoin) where you could download and place on the appdata directory, then it would really speed things up. Is there any way to download blockchain files? (chaindata directory)  Smiley

Not that I am aware of, unless you had a friend offer one up. It took me about 2-3 hours from scratch to download everything and get up and running. I recently had to reinstall a Bitcoin wallet and the download took close to two days, so to me this was a breeze (A bit paranoid with security so I don't trust bootstrap files). Of course a lot of it will depend on your connection speed, but now that the Ethereum blockchain data files are close to 10 GB, it will take a while.
1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH being dumped now! on: March 07, 2016, 10:07:23 PM
At this moment, there's an epic BUY wall on Poloniex just waiting to eat the sell side alive.  Cool
Yup I've been watching this wall of money build up over the evening. The weak hands have been shaken out the tree.

Yes, I think people new to trading do not realize that price does not always go straight up. One thing to keep in mind is that if someone (a whale) wanted to accumulate a lot of coins, you can't just go and buy them up at once and be done with it. As we seen 2 days ago, the sell orders were getting thin and the price kept rising, not a good thing if you want to buy loads of Eth cheaply. Best thing is to let the price settle back down, and hope that people become spooked and start putting up asks at lower and lower prices, which is what is happening now. The amount of Eth for sale on the order-books has increased and the ask prices have fallen.

If this was a true dump or someone cashing out as many imply, you would know it. Just look at other coins history's, or even BTC and the end of the 1200 pump, and when you see a vertical plunge down to 50% or more in value in one go you will know it is for real and someone or someones are cashing out.
1109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is in an artificial bubble on: March 07, 2016, 12:30:53 AM
Yes, everyone knoves that it's a bubble. What I am saying is that it's totally artificial. I realised it looking at coinmarketcap charts.
Almost all of the trading volume goes trought Poloniex and Kraken. On poloniex there's almost ONLY eth/btc volume, no eth/usd volume at all. Kraken actually has eth/usd volume but much smaller than eth/btc.
For me it means than NO FIAT MONEY is flowing in ethereum market cap, it's only that a few btc whales are shorting bitcoin to make money on ethereum pump and then to buy more btc with the profit.
AAAnd, one more time noobs will be fooled.

This is probably due to the fact that Poloniex does not trade in fiat currencies, only in crytpocurrencies. They offer USDT (Tether) which is not fiat, and if you have to exchange to tether to trade most people would probably just as soon exchange into BTC to begin with.

While Kraken does offer trading in fiat, keep in mind that there are withdrawal limits in place for how much fiat you can withdrawal daily based upon your level of verification. There are no limits on withdrawing cryptocurrencies once you are verified to Tier 2. So for people who trade in large amounts (where most of the volume comes from), there are benefits for keeping the funds in crypto.
1110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH being dumped now! on: March 07, 2016, 12:23:49 AM
Doesn't look much different that it did this time yesterday to me. Also the little "dump" as you call it looks exactly like the little corrections we have seen every few days since the run-up began. Contrary to popular belief, a straight up trend or a continual diagonal does not make a healthy rise. Occasional drops due to profit taking help to stabilize the trend longer term.
1111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Changed my mind: Litecoin is, indeed, DEAD. Sold my last 10,000 LTC. on: March 07, 2016, 12:01:44 AM
Litecoin may indeed be dead, but I am holding on to the few hundred I have left for one final pump. I am hoping if BTC catches a rise due to the halving, that LTC will follow it up some. If it gets anywhere near $10 again I think I will be cashing out the rest too, as I think a lot of other people are thinking the same thing. It is hard to keep the faith after years of stagnate movement.
1112  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin has 1st downward difficulty adjustment since June '15, Hashrate Stabile on: March 06, 2016, 06:47:51 AM
Could it be some form of preparedness for the upcoming block reward halving? I was reading an article somewhere where there was a concern there might be a sudden shutdown of mining power after the halving as the reduced reward would not offset the expenses for many miners, assuming the price does not rise enough to compensate. If this were to occur too suddenly, we would end up in a situation with difficulty too high for efficient solving of blocks, and thus drag out the time between blocks to unacceptable levels. Or maybe some miners are already being squeezed by the increased difficulty and the falling price and were thinking of shutting down during the halving anyway, are just getting an early start.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Pump & Dump Scam on: March 05, 2016, 08:09:49 PM
The price rose just now. I thought it would be around 0.02 to consolidate for a few weeks. But it is 0.025 now.

The price is 0.031 now. It is rising too fast. It seems there is no consolidation is required for the Ethereum coin.

I am long-term bullish on Eth, but agree the rise is too fast. We are going to see another 50% drop here sooner or later, just keep that in mind. Meaning if you already sold to take profit, or are considering to sell, don't be tempted to buy back in right away. Also for those just joining, it would be best to wait until after the correction.

Looking at the last big correction (Jan 11-17) we saw a 50% drop in the days following the dump, so I would expect the same to hold true this time. This would mean with Eth currently trading at 30-32 range we are potentially looking at a drop down into 0.015 - 16 or so. A good re-entry point would probably be anything under 0.020 as I believe it will reclaim 0.030's again a week or so after bottoming. Of course this outlook will need to adjust depending on high high the current trend rises before topping out, but it is what I am basically planning my strategy around.
1114  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: March 05, 2016, 07:15:42 PM
Has the cryptsy chat been disabled?

Are you being Facetious?

No, I have not logged in for sometime. DickShock banned me for posting the cost of rent for the condo Horus was living in payed by Cryptsy.

Out of curiosity, how much was the cost of rent? Not that it matters now, but I want to see where some of my money went. Smiley
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ETHEREUM][EXPANSE] DwarfPool - stable pool with PPS system. on: March 05, 2016, 07:09:50 PM
Yes, the personal wallet stats website is down on Ethereum. Any word on when it will return?

I also seen EXP mining was offline for a few hours yesterday. I hope everything is going alright, a status update or some communication would be appreciated.
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kicking Myself I Didn't Invest More In Ethereum on: March 04, 2016, 09:00:12 PM
I bought (mined more accurately) about the right amount of Ethereum to be happy. Sure it is nice to dream and talk about what if's, but it is not very productive. No one knew how high Eth would go in such a short time, and just as with any alt coin if you had bought more, it could have just as easily went down.

I think if the developers deliver what they promise, and if all the companies interested turn out to be more than just casual mentions in a press release, then there is plenty of up left for Eth. You might be "kicking yourself" again 6 months or a year from now if Eth would hit $50, $100 or even higher.

Plus, nothing goes straight up forever, I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities to buy in again, maybe not at $0.50, but certainly less than $10.
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ethereum reach a billion market cap this year? on: March 03, 2016, 03:19:04 PM
Yes, $10 now equating to over $750 million market-cap. It shot up over $100 million in 24 hours, so yes I now think 1 Billion is easily reachable.
1118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you call someone with 1000BTC? on: March 02, 2016, 08:38:56 PM
I would probably just ask them what they prefer to be called, say if his name is William he might like to be called Bill or Billy. I don't know what having a certain amount of anything has to do with what they are called.
1119  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is different between Bitcointalk and Signature campaigns ??? on: March 02, 2016, 07:58:04 PM
Bitcointalk is a forum about discussion and promoting Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies, which are known as alts. In the beginning there were no signature campaigns, so your question above would have likely resulted in one or two responses and that would be the end of it.

Now that the forum allows signature campaigns, you are sure to get pages of responses on even the most trivial subject, as many people take advantage of these easy threads to increase their posting counts. I myself participate in a signature campaign, and the irony of what I am writing is not lost on me, but I also realize that this is the reality we now live in. You just need to learn to live with it and try to sort through the useful responses and ignore the mostly redundant ones.
1120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: pool on: March 02, 2016, 07:48:36 PM
It has been explained pretty thoroughly already, but in essence using a pool gives you a slightly smaller but consistent, predictable, and for the most part reliable stream of revenue. You can calculate your costs and income from the pool earnings and be fairly confident you will make the return expected.

Solo mining, while giving you the maximum amount of income will be very inconsistent, unpredictable, and probably fairly unreliable. This of course depends on which coins you are mining, but for popular ones such as Bitcoin, you may go a long time before solving a block. This was recognized very early in Bitcoin mining, where miners began to trade a bit of their profits in order to "pool" their resources with other like minded miners and smooth out their incomes.

As far as losing you BTC gambling, no you won't get banned as there is nothing to ban you from. You would simply lose your coins and would need to acquire more if you wanted to continue to be involved with Bitcoin.
