Interesting coin. If we use it for storing torrent-files, it will be decentralized network to store info for another decentralized network, brilliant! Seriously, it can be a great foundation for saving info and motivating people to support the network. The only problem is big blockchain, but it could be really stored on servers (hosted by some users), and other users won't hold the whole blockchain on their local computers.

I got several blocks on ~2.3 GH/s, 1 orphan and 5 mined. And after it I got nothing during last hours.

The default RPC port is 8212, the default p2p networking port is, uh I forgot again already. I put it into firewall on a remote server and promptly forgot it.
Look in protocol.h
...Ok found it in there:
const int DEF_PROT=8112; const int DEF_RPCPORT=8212; const int DEF_TESTNET_PORT=8312; const int DEF_TESTNET_RPCPORT=18312;
Weirdly the server still has only 8 connections, 8 is how many you get if you only do outgoing connections. I wonder if there are only 8 nodes out there or maybe I mucked up the firewall setting or that is not the right port afterall or what...
Hmm now only 6 connections. I guess there just aren't many people awake and setting up nodes yet...
-MarkM-
thanks a lot, I'll setup my VPS-es to add a bit more servers to network
|
|
|
Did you open an incoming port? I opened incoming on one of my servers and got 8 connections so far, so maybe none of thoe nodes have incoming ports open themselves and needed my open port to find a place to meet at?
-MarkM-
what port do I need to open? for connecting to network and for mining with external miner

It seems that no one buys Blakecoin, I tried to sell some BLC at different prices, and no one was not interested in buying. I think it's because of pool\block explorer absence
|
|
|
I don't think anyone's buying, I've been trying to sell some. Heck, I'll sell 3000 for 2 btc
yep, seems that no one buys - I tried to sell few BLC for several weeks, but no result at any price. Seems that no one is interested in the coin now

Does anyone see something like that?
1. Some forum member PMs you with claiming "I sent you some XXXcoin, please send me equivalent in YYYcoin" 2. You don't understand what happens 3. This forum member tells you "we decided to trade, don't you remember?" 4. See p.2 5. This forum member sends you screenshot from another forum (i.e. bitsharetalk) where someone with the same nick as yours offers trading, saying "my nick is the same as on bitcointalk, I don't want to post, only to trade" 6. You are messed up - who is scammer?
I got into this situation and want to warn community! If any 'newbie member' on any forum with the same nick existing on bitcointalk (full, senior, etc) says that he wants to trade with you - please ask him to send these messages via bitcointalk. Otherwise you can been scammed.
My reputation here is clean, I created several giveaways, traded with forum members, etc. So imagine that not me, but i.e. someone with nick "SunnyKing" registers on another forum and wants to trade with you. Don't allow scammers to use you!

Guys, what about pool? So much time after release - and no pool, it discourages many people (me too) from solomining it b\c of very low block rate
|
|
|
BLC still not on cryptsy it's really annoying
|
|
|
edited3: price updated and decreased twice b\c of BTC price jump

Is there a google docs exchange? Do I have enough trust to set one up?
There is no gdocs exchange alive, so you can set it up, as I think.

Ok, sounds great. Are you still developing the Quark miner also?
Yes, Smelter is in the work. With current rate and approaching end of Quark generation there is no much sense to improve Quark kernel, next release will come with minor kernel tweaks, reduced royalty rate and improved (I hope) host code. I'm hunting for Primecoin and want everything to be ready for release when that thing finally start work Back to the topic - Blakecoin will not be put into Smelter or be included sometime very, very later w/o mining royalty. Potential conflict of interest and lack of time XPM needs a good miner. Guess the problem with it is sieving is too fast with the current one. Blakecoin really needs a mining pool to offset the high diff, then mining will be better then solo. You might as well include Blakecoin with Smelter, just put an announcement that it has royalty fees in it. yp - pool will help the coin. That's interesting: usually first pool appears faster than gpu\fpga miner for new hashing algorithms (correct me if I'm wrong )

Personally I'd price blakecoins a bit higher than OP priced them at, but perhaps I'm just using pipedream math.
I'm close to setting price 4+ BTC / 1000 BLC, due to its difficulty (soooo hard to find a block ) Yeah Figures people won't buy at > 4BTC/1000BLC, but I wouldn't want to sell under that either... Ah well, market is undeveloped. I suppose that very soon it will be ~1 block per 24 hours with 5*7950
