So, I pay 9% of $300,000+ a year and you pay 9% of whatever McDonald's is paying these days?

if you make 6 figures, 9% of your income has way less of an impact on your life than 9% from someone struggling to make ends meet on minimum wage. flat tax overwhelmingly favors the wealthy.

personally, im happy with a progressive tax system like we have now (only i would raise them back to clinton era levels).

not gonna be a popular opinion on this board, but there it is.

1127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning: How many of you Bears have ever been a victim of a Short Squeeze? on: October 22, 2011, 12:33:12 AM

I have no sympathy for anyone who loses all their money when the site suddenly goes down

basically, you just said that if someone gets scammed, they deserve it.

If my posts SAVE some money from being thrown into a black hole then good.

and then you backpedaled....but yeah, keep pretending that you are posting to help people.

for the record, there are entire threads here warning of the dangers of margin and over-leveraging (and even the potential dangers of using bitcoinica), so cut the bs.  helping people make informed decisions is great....just do it without being a pompous disingenuous asshole

in other words, you are a colossal douchebag that wishes ill on complete strangers for no reason. got it.

1129  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats your strategy; long, short, or cashed out? on: October 21, 2011, 05:50:31 AM
Interesting that there are very few voters shorting the market.  Is that because the only site that supports shorting is Bitcoinica?

Im surprised as well.  I think that a lot of people feel that we are at (or close to) the bottom and dont want to take the gamble.  Frankly, im not that confident that $2.xx is the bottom, so im hedging my bets...
1130  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many people here shorting bitcoins got screwed by the rally today? on: October 21, 2011, 04:23:10 AM
why so hostile towards shorting?  if you dont get over-leveraged, theres not an issue with margin calls... and a short position acts as a hedge if BTC crashes, minimizing losses.

1131  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many people here shorting bitcoins got screwed by the rally today? on: October 21, 2011, 03:31:31 AM
no margin call on my short yet.
1132  Economy / Speculation / Whats your strategy; long, short, or cashed out? on: October 20, 2011, 06:31:08 PM
Im holding a long position and hedging it with a short....depending on the next few weeks i may go 100% short....

what about you guys?

why not buy at 1,5€ and wait for it to go up ... ?

because it may not ever?

look man. you said this was your savings AND your retirement money....cash out, put the money in proper investments.

seriously man, dont fuck up your retirement...

if you still want to mess with btc, do it with a smaller amount that you can afford to (and dont care if you) lose.

1135  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price will you buy some speculative bitcoins on: October 19, 2011, 04:53:50 PM
are there any tradebots that could be recommended for total trading newb such as myself, that could be easily setup with mtgox and other bitcoin exchanges?

i use  https://dnnbitcoin.aricie.com/Default.aspx?tabid=58  its free, open source, and works well.

1136  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price will you buy some speculative bitcoins on: October 19, 2011, 04:44:54 PM
bitcoins are not gambling . bitcoins are a currency, just like USD, EUR. i've been converting my income to BTC then buying food with it to support the bitcoin economy but i don't know how much longer i can keep this up

they certainly are a gamble, at least until some assemblence of price stability happens (which is why you are holding that bag of $30 btc).

but hey, i gave you good advice on how to recoup some of your losses...its up to you whether you choose to take it
1137  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price will you buy some speculative bitcoins on: October 19, 2011, 04:24:18 PM
i hate this omg i bought so many bitcoins at $30 i have literally nothign now, i took out of my 401k, i took out of my savings just to fund this

please tell me you are joking. please.

fucking a man, cashing out a 401k for bitcoins? that's crazy.

get a good tradebot or (slightly more risky) open up accounts at a couple exchanges, and take advantage of arbitrage, check http://nyse-group.de/bitcoin-arbitrage for opportunities.

doing one or both, you should be able to recoup some of your losses..

bitcoins are a gamble.....never gamble what you cant afford to lose.

1138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Apple AAPL topping on: October 19, 2011, 05:54:11 AM
apple has a TON of cash reserve, a super popular line of products (with a great profit margin and a rabid fanbase), and a market cap that rivals exxon.

the stock still looks great to me...

going through the trouble of collecting the personal info and posting a thread specifically to fuck with a child is fucked up. period.

...even if he posted the information first....

he is a teenager who (like every other teenager) is making stupid decisions based on youthful ignorance....adults exploiting that ignorance for the sole purpose of antagonizing him is sick.

i shouldnt need to explain that.
