1401  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is 90% jobless rate possible when robots are used everywhere? on: August 02, 2011, 09:58:06 PM
When the overlords don't have a use for us, we will be tossed out.

no offense, but this statement makes me think that there is no way we can have a rational discussion.  i could be wrong, but it reeks of NWO/illuminati talk.
1402  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is 90% jobless rate possible when robots are used everywhere? on: August 02, 2011, 09:02:44 PM
robots need R&D, programmers, and people to watch and maintain them. they also still have to be marketed, transported, and installed at the businesses/factories they operate in.

i think lower level jobs (unskilled labor) will see losses, but skilled jobs (engineers, programmers, repair techs, etc) will see an increase as robot labor becomes more ubiquitous.

i dont think humans can ever be pulled from the equation in any significant amount.
1403  Economy / Lending / Re: I need a loan. on: August 02, 2011, 04:24:08 AM

No, I posted in this thread in my long standing effort to clean up the cesspool that Bitcoin's perceived as by the public at large - mostly due to the loudmouths on this forum.

yeah, man. you're a real fucking hero.  i can see how your posts in this thread have contributed to a more positive image for bitcoins.

you should congratulate yourself for a job well done, you've single-handedly cleaned up bicoins image with your insulting and condescending posts. where would we be without you?

1406  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Bitcoin Dating thread!! on: August 01, 2011, 06:58:06 AM
You really don't see what you're (apparently unintentionally) implying with that statement, in the context it was in? Roll Eyes

nope, why dont you enlighten me?

to be honest...all i see is a prick that posted in this thread for the sole purpose of insulting the people of this forum. you can play it off any way you want, but we both know you posted in this thread for no other reason than to fuck with people.

That's my whole point, and where this thread and forum has a tendency to take a turn to misogyny.
...
The hordes of women looking to join this idiot circus?

for fucks sake, you cant call the members of this forum an "idiot circus" then pretend to take the high ground.  Roll Eyes
1407  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Bitcoin Dating thread!! on: August 01, 2011, 06:47:06 AM
what in the fuck are you talking about? whos lying? she has assets that i dont ask or care about and so do i. we are both aware of this fact, so whats your issue? no one is deceiving anyone. your entire post is a bunch of word salad amounting to nothing.

Uh huh - the language you used earlier in the thread suggested nothing of the sort.

no? my OP:

Quote from: evolve
as a married man, i have to agree with that.....smart men hide some of their assets

my assets are hidden. as are hers. neither knows exactly how much the other is holding.  i think been extremely clear about that fact.

apparently, that fact offends your delicate sensibilities, and thats fine....but i still fail to see the point of coming on here for sole reason of insulting everyone that posted on this thread.

so explain to me exactly how this is mysogynistic..... would her assets constitute misandry?

If she has the same attitude about you as you're putting out in this thread, yes. The attitude that you have to lie to your partner in order to maintain any semblance of "fair" because she's a woman is rather misogynistic.

for fucks sake, this is exactly what im talking about. you storm into the thread playing the white knight, but there is no ones honor to defend. you are getting all worked up over imaginary bullshit.

here's a clue, women dont need a pretentious prick like you to defend thier honor. do yourself (and everyone else) a favor and drop the "sensitive 90's guy" act, its fucking pathetic.

You're coming off as a limp-dick woman-hating asshole, and to an outsider you represent the majority of this forum's opinion about women.

and you come off as a weak-minded, feckless, no-dick loser that has nothing better to do than post in a thread for the sheer purpose of insulting people.

1410  Economy / Economics / Re: Silver undervalued or gold overvalued? on: July 31, 2011, 06:50:18 AM
but shouldnt the euro have sunk lower faster than usd, particularly since it is supporting multiple failing economies?

why? i want to here from anyone that feels that precious medals are undervalued....i seriously would love to be able to justify buying in right now, but the market seems waaaaay overvalued to me.

I believe that precious metals are currently undervalued.  More to the point, I believe that the US dollar is currently overvalued (which is the same thing).

The bull market in commodities in general, and PMs in particular, is driven by fundamentals relating to the US dollar, specifically US monetary policy.  The fundamentals have not changed.  If anything, they are accelerating.

As long as the Fed continues injecting liquidity (read: inflation) into the economy through quantitative easing, bailouts, and other programs, whilst simultaneously keeping interest rates artificially low, the USD is going to continue to undergo currency devaluation.

The bull market in PMs in the 70s correlated very strongly to the stagflation of the period.  The bull market in PMs only ended when they brought Volcker in as Fed chairman who raised interest rates to 20%.  I don't see the current bull market in precious metals ending until/unless we see a similar rise in interest rates.

this may be a stupid question (i am certainly not an economist)... but,  if USD is overvalued, then why is the exchange rate with the euro roughly the same as it was a few years ago? (it was @ 1.5 USD>Euro and it now exchanges @ 1.4) wouldnt an overvalued dollar trade at a better rate (ie 1 usd>1 euro) especially with the euro supporting the failing economies of greece, ireland, etc?

or am i completely missing something here?
1412  Economy / Economics / Re: Silver undervalued or gold overvalued? on: July 31, 2011, 06:12:37 AM
The poll is missing an option:

Silver is seriously undervalued while gold is slightly undervalued.

In my opinion, this is the correct scenario.

why? i want to hear from anyone that feels that precious medals are undervalued....i seriously would love to be able to justify buying in right now, but the market seems waaaaay overvalued to me.
1413  Economy / Economics / Re: Silver undervalued or gold overvalued? on: July 31, 2011, 03:09:31 AM
i think both are overvalued as is platinum and palladium. as much as id love to buy into precious metals, i think they are in a bubble right now...prices got driven up during and after the housing/banking crash from a influx of new investors...

1414  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Bitcoin Dating thread!! on: July 30, 2011, 05:04:20 PM

So let's ask your wife what she thinks of your hidden assets, and she'll be cool with it - that's what you're saying?

considering we each have our own assets outside our joint accounts, yes.  she has her 401k and csp, i have a stock portfolio and btc. niether of us knows or cares how much the other is holding.

so explain to me exactly how this is mysogynistic..... would her assets constitute misandry?

I'll enjoy my 11 year marriage with a wife who's not a sponge and legitimately deserves half of everything we've built in the last decade.

and im sure she enjoys carrying your testicles around in her purse.  Smiley

I pity the woman who ends up with any of the misogynistic assholes in this thread.

*sigh*  really? you cant be serious.

after 10+ years of happy marriage, i highly doubt my wife agrees with you.  yes, i have a contingency plan (id imagine she does as well) its not misogyny to have a contingency plan, its smart; you cant feed yourself or your children off of hope and dreams.

keep doing the white knight thing though...seems to be working out for you so far Roll Eyes

I would prefer to marry a woman who has never heard of bitcoin.

When the inevitable divorce comes, she will have no idea what the hell a bitcoin is, and know much less how to take half of them!

as a married man, i have to agree with that.....
I bet she doesn't lurk here Grin

nope Cheesy she isnt even remotely interested in btc...cant say ive pushed the issue much either Smiley

be 100% honest about electricity costs and wear and tear costs on the computer, and offer to pay for those costs with your profits (and live up to that offer)

1420  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Aricie: Announcing a new trading bots platform on: July 29, 2011, 06:38:18 PM
OK I've got a problem now.
The server's IP was banned by Mt Gox because someone's entered a wrong password.
I should have foreseen this coming.

I'll check with MtGox to get the IP unbanned.
I'll re-enable verbose logging so that we can investigate ourself on which account has a problem; til now, I haven't logged the bot dumps, only in each users recent history.
I should precise that the password is dumped with another run of encryption, so we won't see it going through.
That will probably slow the site a bit though by generating heavy Data access.

Now here's a few remarks to get started again:

- The bot uses the legacy API, what's needed as credentials is your regular Mt Gox account username and password. Hopefully the API is here to stay for a while, I'll switch to recent API when I'm back.
- Please check your credentials for those who enabled their bots and did not see any new open order on their Mt Gox account.
Edit: the bots won't not issue unavailable orders. If your account is empty, don't expect to see any order coming.

-Sorry for the others, your account is probably left with orders, no need to worry as those positions should be fine, yet you may still want to clean your account until the IP address is removed from ban list.

Cheers

does this mean no new orders will be made by my bot until the servers IP is unbanned?
