121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: April 15, 2017, 11:41:47 AM
Almost bought Msi 1080 ti card yesterday (for zec).
Two developments stopped me:
1. msi 1080 ti card is actually 2.5in in width. I measured it's size on the H97 mobo and it is probably would interfere with the front slot when in 16XPCIE slot according to my guesstimate. Maybe I could have can hanged it on a riser....oh, well, it is sold out at newegg now.
2. AMD RX 500 series will be released on Tue. Assuming even $250 price, they should mine zec at 330-350 h/s ea without any bios tweaks PLUS maybe 28-30 in eth. So, two cards will cost only $500 but perform as a $750 1080ti card (at least in zec).

FREAKING wise decision ...

but my birdies told me, 5xx series will be LIMITED in qty

yes guys, i have some shipping/courier issues sorted out. Shipping is much faster, easier & convenient for me now.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: April 12, 2017, 10:43:41 PM
hey OP, your stuff is ready, will arrange a pickup.

some may know that i've been EXTREMELY bz, sincere apologies from my side for the long delay.

hope you don't mind if i "spam" your thread Tongue *DEL as appropriate if it's too spammy*

since you are on nvidia, here are some pix . . . for everyone's viewing pleasure

nicely sleeved just for you mate !

a bunch of them being modded & to be delivered to "someone" here in the thread heh

area51 test station before delivered.

unboxing ... tbh i was really tired but well i went ahead unboxed & started to build this nice PC for 1 of my friend. Lovin' the NVMe SSD, i'm planning to get 1 for myself too. this mobo has 6 slots but not sure if it will work for all 6 gpu but from experience MSI boards are pretty friendly & should work.

1080 is really a HUGE & HEAVY gpu but tbh, i'm starting to like it by just looking at it haha, most likely for my desktop (below) this RYZEN CPU is AMAZING, no regrets getting it. too wide & tall so i made it round.

twins ? AMD vs Nvidia ? we go side by side & top & bottom (1st power up & it lights up !)

been a very long night, sun is rising at this part of the world very soon time to get some rest. unfortunately i still do not have the opportunity to test out the AWESOME power of a 1080 as i have to pack the nice pc & get it shipped out ASAP. maybe someday but i do get the idea while following your thread.

**hey . . . ketchupman . . . long time no see**
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Bounty for Gigabyte G1 4GB RX470 on: April 12, 2017, 10:16:48 PM
LoL ... you can go faster my dear countrymen (OP)

just do your homework & test

just don't really get it, lowest power & fastest speed .. just go as high as possible, if power is really a concern then you shouldn't be mining.

do the math, low power does NOT mean 1 is saving power. hashrates from dual mining vs power used & work out the profitability, i think my math tells me max + dual mining is ahead. ah by looking at your gpuz you will have more of a temp issue instead of power imo.

btw, there's no more or just few left of this GPU in local market, well, i do have a bunch of them.

simple rule of thumb, you want more hash from gpu, give it more power = more work, less power less work.

just find the balance.

i'd assume the power consumption is NOT accurate from you. go get a killawatt of even better a clamp meter n go clamp then come back n ask.

yeah, REALLY pisses me OFF too !

it's OK if asked nicely with permission to use or copy something similar is ok BUT always ASK !

i think i'll apply for some copyright/patent stuff GrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrR

@ OP, now i think you "feel" or know why sometimes i don't really post too much yeah like our earlier pm exchanges.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: April 03, 2017, 07:55:10 PM

129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: March 28, 2017, 04:56:55 PM
sorry guys, been really busy & some unscheduled urgent appointments showed up. i'm around though. those who pm'ed me, i did reply & will deal with shipping by this coming friday. apologies.

OP i solved the HighPitch  solution for you hahaha ... psu is cooler, less load + better efficiency too.

single 1200w platinum server psu is not enough for your power hungry multiple gpu setup? well the capt got a dual solution! *ordered a small batch of customized dual c13 cables*

running your miner in a hot environment? hot psu? fans are screeching? no problem cooling solution is here too...**i'm running & testing 2 sets now without the extra fan, it's cool & quiet

some stock arrived, SOLD OUT ! 100 risers, gonna order another batch, this time round 50 shorter usb cables & another 50 regular 60cm ones. rigs will me much cleaner !

after some drilling then continue with lots of screwing

more work to be done, enjoy folks.

as for multiple gpus setup more than the regular 7, i won't really recommend to most people due to :

1) you will need NOT only custom BIOS but probably some mods in WIN too but for more than 8 it has to be linux for sure

2) for the 16 or even 32 gpu setup, it's amazing development but still no pix & it's a meh for me tbh.
YES there are some indicator on the boards if a GPU hangs & the mining continues, good job, -wd 0 can do that as of now too but nevertheless the operator still have to RESTART the mining software in order to get all gpus up & running = longer startup time for DAG generation = more gpus will be down = more downtime. what we actually want to know is more towards which gpu is down & which is the one that needs to be adjusted ie in WattTool or in any other software or parameters.

3) Extensions are good for up to 2 gpu or probably even 3 on a single extension BUT either BIOS or WIN limit will hit ya (WIN will be something like NOT enough resources)

4) then it could be fleet of psu's that an operator will need to run & or to figure out the cables & wiring mess, sorry folks & yes i am NOT a fan of messy cables.

5) the boards will be quite BIG in size to fit all gpus = a new design for a rig/rack to fit all of them. say to fit all 16 gpus side by side with a decent amount of spacing between them for adequate cooling the width has to be a minimum 130cm or more.

6) i'd really like the no risers idea & the capability to run many gpus at 1 time but as the old saying goes, do not keep all your eggs in 1 basket.

KISS is sometimes the BEST solution to most problems.

OP i did NOT buy all the mobos HAHAHA.

**again, i DO NOT intend to be the "bad guy" here with regards to the 16 gpu setup but it's just my personal opinions i hope it's being viewed & taken as a constructive criticism**

@op, that's the past. Wait till u see my "nextgen" rigs & I bet ya it's really a 1 of a kind.as u know I'm tied up with rigs production & hosting for local community here but work is already in progress.

So far 1500's are working well for me.

Just be little patient I have the solution for hp "high pitch" ...

Stay tuned.

I saw mention of PICO in this thread, something about it is a type of PSU or something that connects to PSU and motherboard? Will someone explain this a bit more?

A pico PSU is a small PCB that plugs directly into the Motherboard 24pin slot, and can power a basic system. It usually also has one plug for Molex and One for Sata to also power an HDD/SSD, but a very small total Power capacity, usually 120-150W. It's not needed for people like you and me who have regular 1000/1300W PSU's for their system.
Now, 2k or 4k server PSU's were originally designed for use with ASIC's and only have 6 pin GPU out ports and no 24pin output for motherboards or molex sata power etc. They are used in conjugation with low capacity regular PSU's (450W) to run the system off of. The picoPSU that Finksy is making would connect directly to one of the 6 pin cables from the 2k/4k power supplies, and thus eliminate the need for small PSU's to run the system, and upto 2/4 systems can be entirely powered by a 2k/4k server PSU.

@OP, if you are willing ONLY, i can ship 1 or 2 to you it's on the house but you pay for shipping & a favor, if you can help me to do a review as you are an expert in it.

my version of picos. or any other stuff that you wish to test or review.

not a fan of messy wiring . . .

not really a mining rigs manufacturer but i do custom build for my customers, atm only local market.
Not the first time I tell this, but you have one of the sexiest gpu rigs. Keep improving (not sure if it is possible) and sharing with the community.

much thx Smiley

yes there are rooms for improvements & newer revisions are being worked on as i type.
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: March 23, 2017, 11:01:10 AM
well, still a wiser decision for those who knows & especially enjoying building rigs, build your own rig instead of buying a ready made 1 like panda & at the end of the road, can't do much with that rig tbh, for regualr rigs, gpu can be always sold, most parts are under a much longer warranty too.

overall building your own rig is way cheaper too.

pros n cons, i;d still stick with building my own rigs.

nice ! but . . . 1 gpu goes down, whole rig goes down = lotsa downtime, the initial startup & DAG generation must be loooong. good for enthusiast but imo, it's NOT good or recommended for a newbie. try dual mining & what see it spits out. i won't even goto PSU topic, the amount of mess of cables (heh, except my rigs but still need LOTS of work) & i think 1 of the worse would be to figure out which gpu or hardware is the 1 causing all the issue or the entire rig to fail.

sorry for the -ve points but that's what i think & i hope you take it as constructive -ve points.

nevertheless, HURRY up & share the secret sauce & an awesome job done !

Well the point of this project is to have a cheaper/easier entry into muti-gpu mining that never existed before. This will REDUCE downtime/cost and increase ease of setup, since no risers = no USB cords or riser power cords. Sucks I have to keep rebooting this dev system otherwise I could prob show off a 100+ hour continuous mining with no GPU fails with these boards. I don't even need to mention the benefits for a larger farm.

Of course if a GPU does go down its just a matter of rebooting (about 2-3 min from reboot to full hashing with 16 GPUs, on eth, faster with Zcash or other algos)

no risers & cords (but i'm sure still some are needed to power the board right) will be great but still need to purchase a magical board to fit all 16 gpus in right ? as you mentioned it's cheaper compared to risers, this is really interesting then ! i hope its not too big (enough spacing for cooling) or too small (not enough space for cooling) but i'm sure you have done your homework & tests.

just a quick question that just came thru my head, on a regular setup, if a riser fails we can just replace with a riser & that should solve the problem, what if 1 of the slots out of 16 on the board fails, will it affect others ?

let's see how it all turns out when you decide to release it to the public in terms of practicability, costs, shipping and so on.

i hope it all goes well & if it fits in well for me, i will definitely be ordering a piece to play with or probably try to work with you to be 1 of your reseller/dealer/distributor/partner at this part of the world if you wish too.

i hope there's enough copper (i think minimum would be 2oz & up) on the pcb, 16 of rx's does really suck up quite a bit of juice.

show us some pix of it, a little preview.

much thx for the great work & share especially with this 1 of a kind setup. good work do keep up the great job !
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: March 23, 2017, 04:14:00 AM
RX 480 G1 Gaming is crap in my opinion, have 15 of this and every card is hot as ****. Ref card is cooler. I burned by touching this card...

yeah same , i had some of these sold them , you can get them stable but you have to lower mem by alot around 1825 max or so so they only get 26 mhs

also they are bad undervolters as well, i cant get them to 100mv undervolt , max is -65 undervolt , junk cards

ref 480 is still the best imo, or the saphire nitros at least  they run cool

picture tells a thousand words, well it might work well for me but may not for others & vice versa ... so far i'm happy with them. if it does not work well for me, i won't be getting over 200 of them ... GPU 0 & 1 are the GB G1's, GPU 2 is a nitro+ 480 8gb running 3 monitors with various stuffs running in the background.

how did i manage to get them to work at those speeds? like i said it's not difficult, just try with various settings just like any other gpus, maybe OP can share with his tests on the GB G1's that he has.

happy mining to all, back to work.
