1221  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin Conference New York..Who is signed up? on: April 03, 2014, 03:17:59 AM
There are many more people going from here than I thought.
Hope to see you there too.

I shall be attending too; have a press pass for BTC Geek and hopefully interview some people. Feel free to reach out if you're attending too, would be happy to meet the people involved in anything related to Bitcoin!

I am sure there are plenty of people here among the 4000 or so people who've registered for at least one thing!

1224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] ---NEM stake complaint, questions etc.--- on: March 30, 2014, 06:36:00 PM
Any reason I am not included in the list of stakeholders? I can't see my name there. I was an early contributor to the project. My donation was here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422129.msg4656829#msg4656829

Srsly have you guys flocked together to annoy me  Grin?

You are also on the list. Please use CTRL+F and notice the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.
Hah thanks and thanks for your snark. Maybe, if you take money from the community, the least you could do is put this on the OP to make your unintuitive setup clear to everyone instead of expecting everyone to wade through hundreds of pages?

We are asking people to participate. You can always take your money back if you don't feel like you can contribute.
I want to contribute and have the resources to do so, but it doesn't feel like the creators appreciate it or wants to make it easier for those in the crypto-community who have been there long and genuinely want to contribute something.

1226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SwagGucciCoin (SGC): 2nd Generation Cryptocurrency. IPO STARTED on: March 30, 2014, 04:21:57 AM

As this is the beginning advertising of a newly made second gen. alt coin, we will be releasing the IPO at 3/30/2014 5:00pm Eastern and it will end in 2 weeks, on 4/6/2014 7:pm Eastern, I've been working on this coin full-time since early Febuary, while also have a few hired freelance programmers working for me, and in the means of adding a SwagGucciCoin Marketing Team.

Glad to know 3/30/2014 - 4/6/2014 is 2 weeks Smiley

1228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alts are so cheap, are you buying or selling? on: March 30, 2014, 02:10:43 AM
A promising coin is one that seems like there might be some chance its blockchain can and will actually be secured.

Namecoin for example might have promise if there is any chance that merged mining will become more widespread as margins on mining get tighter. At some point with profit from mining being harder and harder to make, the extra percent or fraction of a percent that one can get by merging could become pretty much the only profit miners are likely to make, at least those who don't have the cheapest electricity on the planet. So maybe merged mined coins, or some of them anyway, might someday have hash rates closer to those of bitcoin. That is more promise than any other coins so far it seems.

Basically some day it might happen that very few bitcoin miners are able to eke out any profit at all except by merging, since only mining bitcoins would not counter the profitability edge that people with slightly cheaper electricity have.

Even then though that would only make up for a rather small difference in electricity cost, unless some of the merged coins also enjoy a price increase relative to bitcoins so they contribute a larger percentage to a merged miner's income.

Thus I am buying I0Coins, DeVCoins, and even - although the question of whether pools will continue to merge them once they are not being minted anymore is a worry - IXCoin, and plan to start also buying NaMeCoin when I have enough bitcoins on the exchange to start into buying that relatively more expensive coin; and am of course merging all eight merged mined coins in my mining.

I would probably also be buying GRouPcoin, CoiLedCoin and GeistGeld if they were on any exchanges. (Though I can of course by dGRP from users of my Open Transactions server.)

What do you think of proof of stake coins and their methodology in securing their blockchains?

1230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Denial is fading, fear is approaching on: March 30, 2014, 01:53:45 AM
By analogy, today feels a lot like when this was posted. I like to look back and reflect on people's attitudes then. Then, as now, there was no real bad news to go with the sell offs... just people giving up on Bitcoin.

Hm. As you can see above, I was around for that one. Feels different to me this time, but I could be wrong of course. 380-400 might well be the bottom, but I don't see the bear market as over yet.
I am curious. How did you come to this conclusion?
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I bet 98% of you do not realize this - READ on: March 30, 2014, 01:52:12 AM
Another shill/scam post. Think it's the duo that keeps shilling for the scamcoin "Goldcoin".
Where does the op or the post he linked to say Goldcoin?
1232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next dogecoin rise? on: March 30, 2014, 01:17:38 AM
sold at 137, $900 profit.

Lucky you for selling at the exact high spot. Tell me, how did you arrive at this sell point? Did you have an order already to go or did you somehow know it wasn't going higher, pump/dump?

I'm stuck holding a bag. I should have realized the exact high spot was when I started getting greedy and wondering if it would go higher. I'm selling ext time I get that feeling.
If you're trading, have you considered a strategy that doesn't involve your feelings?
1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Survey for Bitcoin users on financial/news habits on: March 29, 2014, 01:28:08 PM
I took the survey ... it was a bit strange. For example, you've classified sites as 'Visited' and 'Not Visited'. Maybe all I read is the economist and followed a link to forbes from there. Now I have visited both these sites, but it makes no sense to equate them on the same footing. Same with Twitter. It seems like I'd primarily be on Twitter and follow links to most things you posted.

1237  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: March 11, 2014, 02:00:12 AM
If Bitcoin ever hits 50k per coin, which it probably will, then 648 bitcoins would be worth...

648x50k = 32.4 million

Not too shabby...

1k, 50k, not much of a jump.

Same as 24 to 1200, somewhat.
Not really.

1239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Invictus Innovations ProtoShares Cheat Sheet | CPU Mining on: March 05, 2014, 07:20:43 PM
If I send pts to the AGS address now,
do I still get bts in the future?
who can tell me
You won't anymore, no.
1240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Invictus Innovations ProtoShares Cheat Sheet | CPU Mining on: March 01, 2014, 06:24:09 PM
I can't understand one thing - what will happen if you'll spend the coins after the snap will taken? Or we will not be able to use PTS after the snapshot?

You will receive BTS for PTS you're holding at the time of the snapshot. If you spend  the PTS later, you'll still receive the BTS you had at the time of the snapshot. That's the meaning of 'snapshot'.

PTS will continue to function as before, the snapshot does not have any impact on it.
This.
Also, remember to keep your wallet.dat or your private keys even after you spend your PTS after the snapshot. That's the only way you'll get credited for the BTS owed to you.

Thanks, guys. By the way, why the hell donations are still active here: http://www1.agsexplorer.com/ They supposed to finish the process after 28th, so the plans were changed?
AGS donations will continue till 200 days from 1st Jan, so they won't close. These will be used for the future products that Invictus has planned. This snapshot was just for Bitshares, not other future projects.
