1241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: dumb question - I can't get an answer from either Apple or Google on: March 22, 2013, 02:53:37 AM
Would I be violating their rules if I took Bitcoins though the app?

I can't speak for the Google Play Store, but I'm an iOS developer and I can guarantee you won't get an app that takes Bitcoins into the app store.  Apple made blockchain.info remove their wallet feature, and they will not let you take payment in any form except through the Apple authorized methods.

So sorry man, you're out of luck when it comes to the iOS app store.

False. The blockchain.info iphone wallet is still working. I have it on my 5

Shhhhhh.

No, really it is against the rules.
1242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bodybuilding.com Misc forum about Bitcoin on: March 21, 2013, 11:21:25 PM
I was lurking the forum and was surprised to see someone posting about bitcoins on the bodybuilding forum. There seems to be a lot of guys that have no idea what bitcoin is.

Wow, this thread is 7 pages long!
1243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what happen in cyprus that led to their troubles? on: March 21, 2013, 11:19:15 PM
Sorry, it is not some grand conspiracy theory or overspending like in the USA or complex financial instruments.  This was a simple case of lax lending standards and doubling down at the worst time by private companies.  While the government is also in debt, this is not the primary problem right now.

The problem was the BANKS lent money too easily.   To make things worse they bought GREEK government bonds when they where 'cheap'.  OOPS.  When Greece collapsed, that was it.   Now the BANKS not the government does not have enough money to cover deposits.  So in effect this is where deposit insurance should come into play.  But there is not enough money there because the mistakes were HUGE.

If anything what should happens is all of the banks should be taken over by the government the same way that banks are taken over in the US by the FDIC.  The government should make the depositors whole but anyone who OWNED the banks or the banks stocks should be TOTALLY SOL.  The banks are bankrupt!   If needed, bank assets should be sold off to pay depositors or depositors should now own the banks DEBT FREE and the banks debts (not deposit debts) discharged in bankruptcy.

1244  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Intact & Running 6000 M/K Hash plus GPU Farm on: March 21, 2013, 01:48:51 AM

I understand your points that you might not choose the same parts I would, and I understand a lot of you do this as a hobby. But there are folks who do this as a business and pay others to set things up. We're in the group that took this on as a business. We were thrilled when we caught the Litecoin spike and had it pay off pretty fast. Unfortunately we only few a few thousand invested and only made a few thousand. So I guess we have to keep our day jobs...

I am sure a lot of you guys can build a system from parts. That involves sweat equity and setup. So of course you would buy parts, that would be the only sensible thing to do; however, there are also buyers who don't have the time/energy/patience to figure out/experiment/build their own. So they are probably shopping for a system, not for parts. I am offering a rolling system, completely intact and income generating. Soup to nuts, plug it in and go prices to produce an ROI measured in days not years.

I understand the used parts market and the discount components trade at, I am just staying out of it for the time being. GPU's have one price, GPU's mining coins have a different price.

I have a few weeks so we will see where things go before I need to travel. If I don't get in touch with somebody who wants to hit the ground running with a delivered rolling system, then what I will probably part out the cards and craigslist the other stuff.

If you want parts, absolutely go buy parts... if you need a running system, I have a running system and will delivery, training, and post-sales support to get you making money right away.

Matauc12 I have the feeling your probably the guy that doesn't need my help getting any of this stuff setup and rolling Wink

If I decide to part it out, I will let everybody here know!

I just heard my fan speeds change, so I am going to go see if Coinotron just went down again...

Thanks for the feedback everybody.

Planman

From experience:

If you have the boxes to the equipment and it is clean; motherboards, power supplies and video cards will go for the most on eBay.  It is a hassle but that is where top dollar is.

HERE on Bitcointalk, parted is where you will sell them.  I have seen whole farms sell but only at a huge DISCOUNT.  Very few people here will want this intact, and if they did they would probably pay 50% to 75% the price of new.

It would be fun to see how many Bitcoin autos you could get lined up in one location.

We could all go driving around town and make a Bitcoin auto chain  Grin

I know that those ASICs are just starting to ship out, but at this price it would be smarter to buy an ASIC than to put that $1,500 in MtGox.

1248  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 20, 2013, 10:34:13 PM
Only 36482 BTC on gox left before $100.

Not expecting this soon or anything but quite interesting.

The concert is happening in an alternative universe and is on scheduled.   Of course in that universe I am the Governor of TX and just have declared bitcoin as the official state currency.
1250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cypriot bank deposits hit in €10bn bailout on: March 20, 2013, 01:23:09 PM
ALL banks are still closed there.  Can you imagine?  Going on four days with no end in sight.  They are now in a catch-22, if they open the banks without taking the money, everyone goes in and takes money out leaving banks insolvent well before everyone gets their money.  Not that it is a good idea, but now the only choice is to take that 10% out of the deposits as 100% of 0 is still 0.

“We have a technology problem regarding customers’ balance information,” Chase said in a statement.

This is the single worst corporate ass-covering this month.

I thought that normally the PR spiel is "we are currently working to fix the issue and expect your accounts to be back to normal by XX time" I didn't see any re-assuring PR stuff like that in the article paraphrased on that report.

Is this a coincidence or are they trying to create a run on banks??

I just don't get it.  I can imagine even the TALK of doing this is causing bank withdrawals  throughout Europe.
1252  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Intact & Running 6000 M/K Hash plus GPU Farm on: March 20, 2013, 02:02:10 AM
I am currently moderately interested. That could be bumped to very serious by providing PSU info and amount of pcie slots used/unused. And a price ballpark that could confirm this could be advantageous vs the 1.8khs/$ I can get with new and current hardware.

Just curious, what configuration produces this 1.8 khs/$ rate after you buy the GPU, motherboard, memory, processor, power supply, hard drives, riser cables, case/frame, networking equipment, KVM equipment, and invest the time to set it all up? I could see 1.8 if you are only buying the GPU, for example a 79xx series card...

What have I missed?

Thx,

Planman

Hard drives are not necessary mining.  Case and frame are often free or a simple plastic shelf.  KVM not necessary.  Time and setup is really hobby for most of us, we would re-setup any gear our own way anyhow and not even think about it.  Really it is about hardware cost for the needed items.  Even purchasing new 6000m/h would be less then $4800 using 12 new 7950's with moderate clocks
1253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Required" upgrade for Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoind versions 0.7.2 and older on: March 19, 2013, 10:06:08 PM
http://bitcoin.org/may15.html

I don't like the language used. No one can "require" me to do this. I understand why I should and I will but the wording seems wrong to me. Opinions?

Worry less about wording and more about upgrading?
+1

The language is clear.  If you don't like it, don't upgrade.  It is required because it is not a protocol change but a BUG FIX.  If you do not upgrade, the bug will be quite evident for you.
1254  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rockso = BTCGUY = Scammer on: March 19, 2013, 05:04:19 AM
I get it now. Because I don't type like this all the time and both me and btcguy use lazy grammar we are the same person. Is that right? Well, have you noticed how nasty and vulgar btcguy is? Have you noticed I'm not like that at all? I haven't cursed at anybody. Btcguy is very aggressive. I'm not. I'm calm and cool all the way. No matter how many people come at me I will never be like him. But I guess that fun fact won't help me convince you guys I'm not btcguy cause no matter what I say or do haters are gonna hate. Right? I guess it's all part of my brilliant plan to throw you guys off. Right?

Maybe you are on meds now.
1255  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: i have a feeling these guys are scammers - BEWARE on: March 19, 2013, 04:46:22 AM
i think this whole forum needs dr phil to come in and explain the difference between feelings and evidence.

Agreed.  You need to be schooled.

you dont have to treat others like a jerk just cause somebody else treated you like a jerk either.

i think your comments are irrelevant too. your words are no more or less important than mine. if you only have a suspicion and no evidence you should not accuse others.

Evidence is posted.

Same EXACT table.  Same EXACT Floor. Same location.  Same handwriting.
