1261  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin forks to XT, the price will start declining on: August 17, 2015, 10:31:14 PM
Ok, I am purely a hodler here so be gentle with me......

What is wrong with everyone going over to XT?

My limited understanding is that In years to come 1mb block size won't do if it heads towards mass adoption and transactions increase dramatically.

Why stay at 1mb? What's the good thing about staying at 1mb blocks and staying with core?

Again, I just hold my bitcoins so explain in a simple way please.
1262  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 16, 2015, 01:37:30 PM
Can somebody explain this to me like I'm a 5 year old:

XT is supposed to make bitcoin futureproof, but how is it going to achieve that, when it can be spammed up to ~1.15gb / day, meaning that it'll take just 100 days for a determined attacker to increase the blockchain to +115gb, and around a year to take it up half a terabyte. Is this "futureproofing" or ensuring that the future of bitcoin is one where it dies out of bloat and where no-one wants to download it?

Increasing the fees within the 1mb limit is a far more acceptable strategy. If that means bitcoin not doing microtransactions (at least in the traditional / on-chain way), so be it. Gold coins weren't used for microtransactions either, they had silver and copper coins for that.

I am glad you have asked. Although I think I may need more of a 2 year old explanation with colourful pictures
1263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which alt coin? on: August 16, 2015, 01:35:02 PM
Yeah I think you could be right.
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which alt coin? on: August 16, 2015, 01:02:19 PM
I have been holding btc for quite a while now and I have a fairly decent amount. If I want to diversify and invest in an alt purely for profit in let's say 5 years which should I read up on?

Please give your favourite alt coin and why.

Also speculate as to where to hope to see this coin in 5 years.

Thanks

Russell.

What's the reason for the bullishness after a small drop? Am I missing something?

I am not wealthy at all and I own 1 btc many times over and I didn't start until the price was about the same as it is now in 2013. Sell some of your useless junk at home and get onboard.

If you don't hold at least 1btc and you are in this forum reading all this you'll kick yourself later on for not doing it sooner.

I understand in some countries 1btc $267 is a lot of money but if you earn this in a day (which is achievable where I live) then there is no excuse.
Seriously!!!!  1 bitcoin in a day!!!!
Wow, how do you do that.
It took me so much time to get 1 bitcoin and you are saying of getting it in one day.!!!!!
How Huh
he meant earning 1btc in a day in the country he is staying by real day job and not just by the means of online earning , .... yes that's very possible if you have a good job

Yes, earning the equivalent in my currency of 1btc per day at the current price it is now is very possible here. I am self employed and can earn this without too much difficulty.

Obviously our cost of living is much higher so earnings need to be higher.

I know in some other countries they don't earn as much but their cost of living is much lower. Harder to buy btc in that case.

1268  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think 1 Bitcoin will be worth in 2020? on: August 14, 2015, 10:43:47 PM
The way things are going between $200-$400 wouldn't be too surprising. (Only saying this as it's been boring for so long.)
1269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 14, 2015, 06:28:51 PM
Are we going under?? Huh

I guess so  Sad

under what?

i see the same value in the orderbooks and the same giant green thing on Finex when Chartbuddy posts

Under three digits, yes...

And then your Mum woke you up from your wet dream & told you it was time for school Smiley

Hehe.  I believe that there must be a way to shake weak hands.  Hope you sold already.  😊

Never sold a single satoshi, it's sink or swim for me. I'm a long term HODLER, we'll see in many years time if I've made a good decision. I'm certainly not an owner of a pair of 'weak hands' Grin

Exactly my situation too. Steel hands
1270  Economy / Speculation / Re: The panic selling has begun on: August 14, 2015, 03:31:38 PM
I don't think ask has the slightest clue what is happening. Same as everyone else.

He fooled a few. Even me.
1271  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's Long Tail on: August 13, 2015, 07:16:51 PM
I think you should not say "we" like you are a fellow bitcoin enthusiast.  You are a troll, remember?

So, because I'm not a rah-rah cheerleader for bitcoin, I must be a troll??? Even for your dim brain, I expected more.

The sheep herd mentality in this forum is simply astounding. No dissenting voices allowed. How fascistic!

Well you posted this recently ..........

As a noob, you are a lunch meat to the early adopters, whales and manipulators in the market. Since it sounds like you've bought some coins, you have my sympathy. Now, sell your coins and try to recoup as much as you can, while you can. Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme. If you stick around, your coins will become worthless. Btc has lost 80% of its value since Dec'2013. Recently, some of the early adopters, whales and schemers tried to stop the decline but they have largely failed. The longer you hold your coins, the more you will lose. Don't be their bag holder. They have lured in countless others with false promises. Their words have proven to be false; "To Da Moon!", "1 BTC to be worth 1 Million $!!!", etc... All pump'n dump, putrid hyped up marketing. Don't be holding their bag.

not a troll??

1272  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 13, 2015, 05:42:00 PM
I have bought in on pumped up Alt coins during a Huge Pump in my noob days.

Never again.

Mye eye spy some serious mooning. The next few hours are CRITICAL.

I hope so. Could do with some mid week excitement. Would it be because of the yuan?
1274  Other / Off-topic / Re: DO YOU HAVE 1 BITCOIN? on: August 10, 2015, 10:16:27 PM
I struggle with the concept of people here only owning dust too
1275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling the bottom on: August 08, 2015, 10:27:38 PM
Bottom is reached. Can go down to 270, but nothing below. Will go up next week again. Mark my words.

Words marked.

Direction seems a little SSE for now.

Go two steps back,  and check again Smiley

Yep checked

This makes me not want to sell for a very long time!  I'd feel physically sick if I was OP

Me too. Nerves of steel.

I'll either be rich or lose my investment and have wasted countless hours on this forum looking at stupid train, bear, rocket and coyote smashing himself up pics

Well yeah there is that.......
I don't really want to think about the money I've invested in bitcoin. It's gone now. We all invest for the hope of a better life one day. I'd rather to quote 50 Cent - 'Get Rich Or Die Trying'
Wink Wink

Seriously though, nobody ever became wealthy by playing it safe. Who wants to stick their savings in a crappy fiat banking system with awfully low interest rates. Even if bitcoin doesn't 'go to the moon' we should be looking to at lesst double our investment as a result of the halving next summer if not the halving 4 years after that.

I think we are pretty like minded and we both know doubling our investment is not good enough in the end. Even 10 x would be disappointing. Personally I'd like to buy up property one day with my stash. 10 years? I can wait.
