About time to introduce new legislation around the world that criminalizes ISPs for routing malicious bandwidth.
That's the thing with DDOS: it's just a device requesting a website. It's not easy to know if it's a human or an infected device doing it.
1263  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: START mining the testnet on: March 22, 2024, 11:03:15 AM
I see the reward is very low but I think the testnet coins should be worth  at least 1% of the mainnet price
But even BCH and other forked coin doesn't even have 1% of BTC price.
It's like saying I think my made-up Bitcoin Loyce Vision should have 1% of Bitcoin's price. It means nothing.
1264  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitcoindata.science | sponsored by BC.Game on: March 22, 2024, 10:39:13 AM
I know some of the IP which are attacking, but they are many from all over the world...
That's typical for a DDOS. It must be far too cheap by now, to attack basically any site that makes something nice.
1265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #2 on: March 22, 2024, 09:05:38 AM
6.13%.
I wanted to check reality to see how often this occurred (start with Bitcoin block data available in CSV format, and download time.txt), but there is no accurate data on block times. In some cases the block time moves backwards.
1266  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: March 22, 2024, 08:13:31 AM
if someone is interesed in that i develop a program to verify the signature:
If you add a posting bot to it, I could use LoyceBot to quote and verify the posts Smiley
I had a posting bot years ago, but it stopped working. I tried several times after that, but never could get a reliable system to post.
1267  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: START mining the testnet on: March 22, 2024, 08:02:20 AM
you need an ASIC if you don't want to wait for the 20 minute difficulty reset to 1.
I tried it for about a week, and never hit a block. CPU mining loses from ASIC even if the difficulty is reset to 1.

To answer your PM: let's see if "Show All" on long topics still works. If it works, click https://loyce.club/showall/2064991.html in about 30 minutes.

Update: It only got the first page. I'll look into this later. Fixed Smiley
1270  Other / Meta / Re: "Show All" on long topics on: March 21, 2024, 01:52:08 PM
Bump! Let's see if this still works Smiley
1271  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has anyone heard of PKEK Crypto Exchange? There's nothing online about it=Weird. on: March 21, 2024, 01:50:57 PM
It could also be a trafficked slave.
I've read that too indeed. This isn't just an innocent scam, it's most likely a network of organized crime.
1272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Indexing new node has slowed to a crawl on: March 21, 2024, 09:14:28 AM
Thank you for the replies.  I am running a PC with 8gb ram and and an i7 processor and 400 Mbps internet connection.  I have an attached Samsung T7 2tb external drive to run a full node, not pruned.  It just seemed like it was indexing faster and faster than all of a sudden barely moving.  If it's still downloading the blockchain regardless of speed, does that mean there was no corruption in the blockchain that is downloaded so far?
There are 2 things I would improve: get more RAM, and don't use an external drive. It's very easy to accidentally disconnect the USB cable, and that will lead to file corruption. Chainstate when fully synced is 11 GB, that doesn't fit your RAM which will lead to terabytes of data written to your disk.

Adding RAM will improve your overall computing experience, and is not very expensive anyway.

Don't worry about it. If your blood has yet to return to your brain, that's on me. Wink I really did outdo myself last week, didn't I?
Considering I'm getting older, maybe we should take 2 weeks next time.
1274  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has anyone heard of PKEK Crypto Exchange? There's nothing online about it=Weird. on: March 21, 2024, 08:25:29 AM
The "friend" is a hot Singaporean girl living in LA.
Lol. I guess you learned a valuable life lesson. It's a textbook scam.

Quote
She texted me & I played along.
Playing along to keep a scammer busy is one thing. Sending them money is not "playing along", that is getting scammed!

Quote
She told me her rich uncle had a staff that could predict a window when BTC would go up or down.
It's amazing how gullible people are.

Quote
I decided to play along & put a couple hundred $ worth of ETH on the platform.
You decided to get scammed?

Quote
the balance was up to $50k!!! I was able to withdraw $300, $200 & $1100.
Being able to withdraw only 2% didn't ring a bell?

Quote
I probably put a couple $1000 worth of BTC & ETH in the system. I never put any real cash in the game!!!
You couldn't be more wrong. Bitcoin is real money!

Quote
As described in a reply, I had to deposit more crypto $ using my primary IP address so they could run the review, otherwise, they might freeze the account.
When I first saw your topic, I thought you were asking about this scam before sending them money, but apparently you fell all the way in already.

Quote
I'm not locked out or anything. But here is the weird part. Maybe you all can find the angle they are trying to play.
It's easy: not your keys, not your coins. You have access to an account made by a scammer, that means nothing.

Quote
-So where is the angle? If she send me the $250K in ETH how can that backfire on me?
-Why would she encourage me to make moe fake $$? She knows I'm not putting any more in.
You're a horny fool who fell right into their trap from the beginning. Of course they try to shake you for more money and they will try to bleed you dry to the very last satoshi you own.

Quote
It's a very weird scam when someone is saying "please please take my $250K in ETH".
A random victim has a very small chance of falling for their trap, You've proven to be a great victim who plays along willingly, and you've proven to easily send your money. That $250k doesn't exist, a number in a scammer's app means nothing. It's just to make you more greedy so you'll risk even more money.

Quote
Now you see why I wanted to get some advice...
I'll give you some advice: delete that app, wipe the phone, take your losses, lick your wounds, and forget about this "hot girl". You know the one you're chatting to is an ugly dude, right? You may have seen pictures of a girl, and they may even have hired her for a video chat, but come on, let reality sink in!

If it helps: I may have archived posts that were deleted later from the topic you're looking for.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Image loading...
I can walk fine again, but it turns out my mental capacity hasn't recovered yet. I wanted to right-click "quote", and write this from a new Window. But what I did, was right-click "delete", which resulted in your post being deleted without asking for confirmation Sad Sad Sad Sorry Foxpup, this was unintentional Sad
Thanks again for your flawless timing!

Thanks again for your flawless timing! I'm sorry to be late [various reasons involved through time...]
(...^Also hoping nobody senses the impersonation here...)
We had visitors, and I couldn't just pull out and demonstrate my time machine in front of them. So I ended up 3 hours late.

Update: I've removed the self-mod from this topic. It gets derailed anyway, and I'm okay with that. I don't want to be able to make this mistake again, so I dare to drink alcohol again Smiley And I hadn't even had any yet.
1277  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can someone make a testnet BTC exe? on: March 20, 2024, 09:54:40 AM
i mean one that is dedicated to the testnet only the testnet.
The whole point of testnet is to test things that you can use in the real wallet later. Since it's open source, you can strip out anything related to the real wallet, but it's kinda pointless to do.
1278  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM REPORT | Heisenberg63 on: March 20, 2024, 09:48:57 AM
I think the threat should be closed
You can click "lock" (bottom-left) yourself.

as resolution with a partial refund is given.
Why did you change your negative feedback to positive while saying it's neutral?
1279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Mar 2024] Fees are lower, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: March 20, 2024, 09:16:14 AM
Looking at my situation, I have a bunch of UTXOs that are .0004 BTC and up, so my fears of everything turning to dust are not as dire as I thought.
Before I opened this topic, it would have been dust:
Not so long ago, more than 600 Satoshis/byte was needed to have any chance at a fast confirmation.
If that happens again, you'll just have to wait it out.

I am thinking of holding out waiting for something like a fee rate of 6 sats and just get it done. There are 3 UTXOs that are below .0004, one is .00008, I'll make sure I don't burn it.
As long as you're not in a hurry, that works. I'm still waiting for lower transaction fees myself.

Exchanges tend to overcharge their customers, so it's not like they care about being thrifty.
Many companies overcharge their customers, but wasting money still costs them money.

Consolidations are going to take a while. I noticed bc1qwkpdjeatdwrpv4vu4mj84ee6vkn96vdz2drfsn is filling many blocks consolidating 0.000049999 BTC inputs at 7.28 sat/vbyte. The transactions all have >1000 inputs, weigh about 75 kvbytes, and send 0.05 BTC. The address received 8.6 BTC in total, so that makes about 170 large consolidation transactions (assuming all inputs are the same size, it's hard to see that many inputs on a block explorer).
How did this address get all those inputs? It came from transactions like this one, which paid $20 at 199 sat/vbyte for something that looks like Ordinal dust spam. Maybe the 4999 sats were a payment for some "service" related to the Ordinals? I don't know, but someone no doubt earned a lot of money from this.
1280  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has anyone heard of PKEK Crypto Exchange? There's nothing online about it=Weird. on: March 20, 2024, 06:11:46 AM
I met someone who seemed to know a lot about crypto that suggested I install an app to connect me to a crypto exchange
This sounds a lot like a common scam. Someone recommends something, you get fake profits after depositing, in a few months it will show you "have" $80k, and if you want to withdraw you'll have to deposit $8k first "to pay taxes". It's a scam. Don't fall for that, there are enough reputable exchanges out there.
Note: I know nothing about PKEK. But I see no reason for any Newbie to use an unknown exchange, it's not worth the risk.

Quote
I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of it.
When in doubt: don't install it, and don't use it.
